For the 2nd Epiphany Sunday 1725, Bach composed the cantata O God, what glut of care and pain. It forms part of the annual cycle of chorale cantatas. In the large-scale opening movement, a choral setting full of anguish with expansive orchestral sections, the bass presents the cantus firmus in segments, reinforced by one trombone. This is followed directly by the second chorale verse in a four-part setting in which, however, each chorale line is interrupted by a short recitative (each one sung by a different voice). The bass, who closes the recitative, also sings the following continuo aria which is rich in melismatic passages. The second aria is a duet expanded into a quartet setting by the addition of oboes d'amore and continuo; it leads into the closing chorale containing a wealth of transitions. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3100300.

Mark uses a light samba feel to craft a marvelous setting of this Charlier Parker standard for the little big band format. Perfectly scored tutti ensemble figures are contrasted with feature spots for a duet of alto sax and trumpet. Easy flowing rhythms and modest ranges make this one easy to learn. The Little Big Band Series features arrangements that are: Scored for 6 horns (3 saxes, 2 trumpets, trombone) plus rhythm section; Include additional optional parts for alto, tenor and trombone; Perfect for smaller programs, or additional ensemble opportunities.

Contemporary hymn by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend Keith Getty and Stuart Townend's contemporary hymn gets a stunning new choral treatment from arranger, Lloyd Larson, just in time for the Easter season. This theologically driven anthem builds from the simple affirmation, In Christ alone my hope is found; he is my light, my strength, my song, then traces the birth, death and crowning glory of the resurrected Lord, who bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave rose again, culminating with the final return of Christ. The hint of The Solid Rock that Lloyd drops in at the end is a perfect coda to this powerful presentation. The addition of brass and percussion heightens the dramatic impact and sets this arrangement apart from all the rest. The Brass packet contains a Conductor's Score and parts for: 2 B-flat Trumpets, Trombone, Horn, Tuba, Percussion and Timpani.
