This work was composed for the twentieth anniversary of the United Nations and requires a large adult chorus of men and women and a smaller children’s choir placed separately with its own conductor and optional organ accompaniment.

The Missa K.257 bears the non-authentic dating 1776 and was presumably composed at the end of 1776 or in the first half of 1777. Like K.262 (246a) it is designated in Leopold Mozart?s handwriting as a Missa longa on the cover page of an early composite manuscript containing the five masses in C major. K.257 is listed there as the last work. The designation ?Missa longa? was intended to point out that this was an extensive full-scale mass. Normally it would have been called a Missa solemnis but Mozart for unknown reasons did not make use of this customary nomenclature.The name ?Credo Mass? is taken from the acclamations of ?Credo? that constantly interrupt thelike-named movement. The Mass is remarkable for its density of invention within the narrowest of confines. Originally written as a solo work this unison setting for treble voices and organ depicts Mary standing at the foot of the cross. In the music the falling phrases represent Mary's weeping – and the rising phrases her grief and great sadness of heart.

Andrew Carter's God Is Love for SATB and Organ.This beautiful anthem set to words by Timothy Rees and the composer celebrates God's all-encompassing love for mankind. The gentle melody introduced in verse 1 by the sopranos prevails throughout and is taken up by all four voices in unison before the piece comes to a triumphant close.

Drop drop slow tears was written for The Arcadian Singers of Oxford University for a recording in 2002. The work is set in a simple three-verse format beginning with upper voices whose melting harmonies are intended to convey dropping tears. The second verse sung by lower voices is more urgent but subsiding to a serene final verse. Bernard of Offida 1604 1694 was a Capuchin monk whose saintly life and devotion to the sick and poor caused him to be beatified by Pope Pius VI on 19 May 1795. St. Bernard?s name day falls on the 11th of September (a Saturday in 1797) and it is generally thought that Haydn combined doing honour to the Capuchin monk with the production of a new Mass for his patron the day thereafter.Apparently later performances in Eisenstadt added horns to double the trumpets in the tuttis and just as in the previous Mass the clarinet parts were enlarged; it is almost certain that the new clarinet parts are either by Haydn or (shall we say) ?supervised? by him. As inthe Mass in Time of War conductors have the choice of two orchestrations: with or without doubling horns and with or without the supplementary clarinet parts.The Heiligmesse has always been one of Haydn?s most admired works.
