Danse vive was written in 1939 and had its first performance, as did most works of this time, as mentioned by the composer, in the famous occupation Art Salon at Ulica Nowy wiat 27 in Warsaw, led by Boles aw Woytowicz. Lech Miklaszewski made the first archival recording of the piece for Polish Radio in September 1946. After a long period of obscurity, Danse Vive appeared unexpectedly during the inaugural concert of the VII International Festival of Contemporary Music, Warsaw Autumn, on 21st September 1963. W adys aw K dra, after performing Tadeusz Szeligowskis Piano Concerto with the Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio conducted by Jan Krenz, played Kisielewskis piece as an encore. Mieczys aw Tomaszewski in conversation with Joanna Pruszy ska defines Danse Vive as Toccata 41. Indeed - the free, almost improvised form, the figurative texture and at the same time the uniform lines inlaid with sforzandi syncopated rhythms (although changing time signatures several times) give the composition such a nature. But at the same time Danse Vive can be described as an apotheosis of a Krakowiak, a lively, Galician dance, whose full theme at 44 is shown only once in the piece, after a thickening, figurative outset, not at all reminiscent of folk melodies. [M. G siorowska, Kisielewski, PWM 2011].

Liam shares remarkable stories of human life and of the people and events that have touched him during his years of ministry, along with fascinating perspectives on his own spiritual awakening. These pages reveal a God who does not intrude upon human living but rather is available to enter into the very depth of it and become present to those who wish for “eyes to see, and ears to hearâ€. Liszt was inspired, mainly under the influence of Berlioz's Faust compositions, by the Faust, and much later by the Mephisto themes to write several works. In the first period between 1856-62 he wrote the Faust Symphony and Zwei Episoden aus Lenaus Faust which included Night march and Dance in the village tavern - the latter being also entitled First Mephisto Waltz - these for orchestra, along with versions for piano two and four hands, and for two pianos written simultaneously. The rest of the Mephisto compositions are all late works from between 1880-85: 2nd Mephisto Waltz 1880-1881, 3rd Mephisto Waltz and Mephisto polka 1883, 4th Mephisto Waltz 1885, 5th Mephisto Waltz, subtitled Bagatelle sans tonalité, probably also 1885. The five Mephisto Waltzes and the Mephisto Polka are now published by EMB in one volume (the first such selection world-wide!), as separate edition of the New Liszt Edition, where they appeared in a both critical and practical edition between 1982-84.This publication is printed on high quality, durable paper made from renewable raw materials in an environmentally friendly way.

The Suite on Galician songs was written in 1899 and debuted on 31 October that same year, as part of a series of concerts organised by the Philharmonic Society of Barcelona at the Teatro Lirico, under the direction of Joan Lamote de Grignon. The work is made up of four movements: I. Canto de la manana (‘Morning song'), also known as En la montana (‘In the mountains'), II. Danza Scherzo (Galician folk dance), III. Morrina (‘Homesickness') and IV. La Fiesta (finale). The entire composition is laced with Galician folk melodies, which serve as the pretext for developing a piece that is entirely descriptive and scenic in nature, by means of a meticulous and precise orchestration of great technical and folkloric interest. The work reveals not only Granados' great technical expertise as orchestrator, but also his imagination and intelligence when recreating the most distinctive sounds of traditional Galician folk music. He achieves this effect through a masterful use of instrumentation and experimentation throughout the 23 minute duration of this magnificent suite.
