DIE NEUE GITARRENSCHULE by Heinz Teuchert is one of the most successful methods for classical guitar in German. Since it was first published in 1983, the guitar technique has evolved in many respects so that the need of a revised edition has become more and more evident. Prof. Michael Koch has taken up this mission and now presents the revised method in two volumes: the texts, parts of the playing material, and the appearance of the books have been modernized while preserving Teuchert’s methodical approach and the underlying structure of the method. One of its strengths is the diversity in terms of playing techniques and musical styles not only solo playing but also fingerpicking styles, flamenco techniques, and song accompaniment are taught. The BOOK CD AUDIO ONLINE packs also feature demonstration and play-along recordings of many pieces included in the books.

DIE NEUE GITARRENSCHULE von Heinz Teuchert gilt als Standardwerk unter den deutschsprachigen Lehrbüchern für klassische Gitarre. Seit ihrer Erstveröffentlichung im Jahr 1983 hat sich die Gitarren-Spieltechnik beträchtlich weiterentwickelt, sodass die Notwendigkeit einer Überarbeitung des Schulwerks immer deutlicher zutage trat. Prof. Michael Koch hat sich dieser Aufgabe angenommen und die revidierte Neuausgabe in zwei Bänden vorgelegt: Die Texte, Teile des Spielmaterials sowie das Erscheinungsbild wurden modernisiert, während Teucherts methodischer Ansatz und die grundlegende Struktur des Schulwerks beibehalten wurden.

DIE NEUE GITARRENSCHULE zeichnet sich insbesondere durch ihre Vielseitigkeit aus, was die behandelten Spieltechniken und musikalischen Stilrichtungen angeht: Neben dem Solospiel werden auch das Fingerpicking, der Flamenco und die Liedbegleitung mit Akkorden vermittelt. A man lives in a town in which he can barely hear the music going round in his head for the noise. He purchases a house in the country and numerous tenants move in: the string family, wind players, a pianist, a female harpist, a drummer and a timpanist. They all learn to listen to each other and play together whilmaking music. During the progress of the work, orchestral instruments and the role of the conductor are explained.

This work is based on a children's book by Margret and Rolf Rettich (ED 9307 = Book; ED 9307-50 = Book + CD)A contemporary piece suitable for a young audience. The various soloists and instrumental sections of the orchestra are introduced in characteristic passages. The story linking the musical items is told by a narrator.

György Orbán (born 1947) is among the most frequently performed contemporary Hungarian composers. His style incorporates a characteristic mix of classical, modern, cinematic, and jazz elements. In addition, he claims he ''loves splashing about in tonality,'' which makes his works accessible to the wider public. Owing to his humor and imagination, he finds an easy path to children, as demonstrated by the popularity of his piano works specifically intended for beginners. He composed close to 70 short children s pieces for Ágnes Lakos s four-volume Friendly Piano Tutor (Z. 14749-14756), later published separately as Enchanted Forest (Z. 14742). The New Bell includes 19 piano piecesfor beginners among others, we encounter a baby elephant now and again (perhaps paying a visit from Debussy s Children s Corner?) and we hear the awful clamor of a most outgoing granny s alarm clock as well as the solemn tolling of a new church-bell. The pieces are arranged in order of difficulty and even include a few items for three hands which may be played by a pupil with the teacher or another student.

György Orbán (geb. 1947) ist einer der meistgespielten zeitgenössischen ungarischen Komponisten. In seinem Stil vermischen sich auf charakteristische Weise Elemente der klassischen, zeitgenössischen, Film- und Jazzmusik. Daneben ''plantscht er in der Tonalität'' nach eigener Aussage, so dass seine Werke für ein großes Publikum zugänglich sind. Dank ihres Humors und ihrer Fantasie finden sie auch bei Kindern leichten Zugang: Das beweist die Popularität der ausdrücklich für AnfängerInnen komponierten Klavierwerke. Für die vierbändige Freundliche Klavierschule von Ágnes Lakos (EMBZ14749-14756) komponierte er fast siebzig kleine Klavierstücke, die später unter dem Titel Der Zauberwald (EMBZ14742) auch eigenständig erschienen.

Die neue Glocke enthält 19 neue Stücke für KlavieranfängerInnen: Unter anderem taucht darin ein kleiner Elefant auf (vielleicht trappelte er aus Debussys Children´s Corner hierher?), man erfährt, wie schrecklich der Wecker von der Oma in Partystimmung klingelt - und natürlich auch, wie würdevoll die neue Glocke der Kirche läutet. Die Stücke folgen einander in der Reihenfolge ihrer Schwierigkeit. Unter ihnen sind auch einige Stücke zu drei Händen zu finden, die mit der Lehrkraft oder einer anderen Schülerin bzw. einem anderen Schüler zusammen vorgetragen werden können.
