Divergence can be defined as drawing apart as lines from a common center. Divergence for the young band is based on that concept with melodic lines that draw apart from a common musical center. Melodic lines pull apart and interact within choirs. Woodwinds diverge from brass providing contrasting and interacting harmonic effects. Divergent lines continue to develop throughout the piece leading to a powerful and exciting conclusion. An excellent selection for concert and festival performance.

Lara Poe's (b. 1993) energetic Divergence (2015-2016) for string quartet was conceived cyclically: the four movements explore drifting in and out of focus between different materials. Ludwig van Beethoven conceived his Seventh Symphony in the summer of 1811 in the Bohemian spa of Teplitz. The fair copy of the score autograph was made the following year. The work was heard for the first time on 8 December 1813 in the auditorium of the Vienna University, when the Seventh was given its first, enthusiastically applauded audition - together with the programmatic symphony Wellington's Victory or the Battle of Victoria op. 91.The present Urtext edition is the first to be based on the evaluation of all the sources transmitted for the work. The score contains the complete Critical Report. Observations deemed particularly important, as well as divergences from established editions, are clearly marked within it.Words are not enough to praise this exemplary edition, resulting from many years of systematic editorial work on the sources. Breitkopf's source-critical, practice-oriented edition by Clive Brown and Peter Hauschild will provide valuable new impulses in the interpretation of Beethoven's music. (Kurt Masur, 2006)This is the first new edition of the 7th Symphony for which all surviving sources have been examined. The examination brought up a number of text-critical problems with respect to divergent readings. (Peter Hauschild).

The present Urtext edition is based on the known surviving primary sources, and also incorporates two further, previously ignored sources, including a copy of the score made presumably in Vienna around 1820.The score contains a summarizing Critical Report in which the annotations and divergences from familiar editions that seem to be particularly important are brought out through bold print. In the separately published study Die Neubewertung der Quellen von Beethovens Funfter Symphonie (Wiesbaden: Breitkopf & Hartel, 1996), there is an extensive discussion of the source dependencies as well as facts on the origin and transmission of the work.Words are not enough to praise this exemplary edition, resulting from many years of systematic editorial work on the sources. The Mozart expert Henrik Wiese edits the central work genre of Viennese classicism according to the current status of international Mozart research. The clean autograph of the Horn Concerto in Eb major K. 447 offers a reliable basis for the present Urtext edition, which deliberately abstains from leveling out certain fine points and smaller divergences made by Mozart at parallel and repeated passages. In the edition for horn and piano, the two solo parts contain two cadenza suggestions for the first movement, as well as lead-ins (also alternative) for measures 22 and 196 in the third movement. The distinguished Mozart specialist Robert D. Levin offers a variety of multiply interrelated motivic and melodic sections from which every horn player can put together his own cadenza.

Written for 3 - 5 octave handbell choir. Level 3. This original tune from the pen of Ron Mallory is a lighthearted romp, suitable for concert or worship use. Dedicated to the composer's son, the lilting, syncopated 6/8 imparts a playful attitude to the piece, which is replete with unexpected harmonic divergences that add to the creative, exploratory feeling. Stopped techniques abound, making the piece as fun to play as it is to hear.

In his Ballades Chopin created a new, typically Romantic, genre of piano music. Works of this type were not known in earlier instrumental music. Volume I of the National Edition contains all four of Chopin's Ballades, Of the variants in musical notation, those designated 'ossia' were marked in this way by Chopin himself or inscribed in his hand in pupils' copies; while those without the indication result from textual divergences in authentic copies or from difficulties in reading the text in an unambiguous way.

The preface shows how closely Franz Beyer succeeded in approximating Mozart: Despite occasional inconsistencies, the organization of the cross-bars follows Mozart's manuscript, since divergences are possibly indicative of a particular articulatory intent.Beyer's Urtext edition follows Mozart's manuscript despite occasional inconsistencies.

Chopin composed his ''Mazurkas'' continuously from 1825 to 1849. The half-utilitarian genre was a point of departure, gradually becoming a form of meditative lyricism - the most personal statement of expression. Chopin's''Mazurkas'' present a number of specific performance problems resulting from such causes as the diversity of individual mazurkas, their collection in opus groups byChopin and his drawing inspiration from dance forms of Polishfolk music. Volume No. 4 contains 43 mazurkas. Of the variants in musical notation, those designated ''ossia'' were marked in this way by Chopin himself or inscribed in his hand in pupils' copies, while those without thisindication result from textual divergences in authentic copies or from difficulties in reading the text in an unambiguous way. The miniature version of the National Edition does not contain source commentary or performance notes.
