Oper in Funf Akten Version 1756. Par RAMEAU JEAN-PHILIPPE. Richer than ever ? Rameau?s ?Zoroastre? in the version of 1756. Opera in five acts. Rameau?s revised version of his opera ?Zoroastre?, which could be heard and seen between 20 January 1756 and 26 March 1757 at the Académie royale de musique, was favourably received. Also from today?s point of view the work profits dramaturgically from many of the changes and seems altogether richer and more tightly woven than the original of 1749. The subject matter of the libretto, derived from Ancient Persian sources, is timeless: the struggle between good and bad. The good is embodied by the religious reformer Zoroastre, a representative of the supreme light being Orosmade. He is opposed by the ambitious magician Abramane who serves Ariman, the spirit of the dark. The opera includes some of Rameau?s most ecstatic and spiritual musical numbers, such as the episode of sun worship in Act 3 with the sublime ?Hymne à la Lumière?, which, for unknown reasons, was not integrated in the revision of 1756. It is therefore included in Appendix 3 of this Bärenreiter edition. Incidentally, with ?Zoroastre? the prologue, wh ich had been customary since the beginnings of French opera in the 1670s, was abandoned. Instead Rameau was the first to introduce an overture which set the scene for the entire drama and thereby anticipated Gluck?s opera reform by many years. - One of Rameau?s main works for the stage, now available with all its versions - With a straight-forward piano reduction in the vocal score by François Saint-Yves - Available on sale full score (B0A8867-01) and vocal score (BA08867-90) - Performance material available for hire BA08867-72 - Jean-Philippe Rameau - Opera Omnia (OOR) IV/26 / Date parution : 2022-07-30/ Répertoire / Chant et Piano

(+)
Classical Guitar Arrangements from Bizet's Opera Carmen. One might think that it would be impossible to arrange the music of Georges Bizet?s opera, Carmen, for solo classic guitar, but Néstor Ausqui has done it! While the guitar is an intimate and sweet-sounding instrument, it does not have a broad dynamic range; yet, as Dionisio Aguado proclaimed in his Nuevo Método para Guitarra of 1843, the classic guitar?s expansive palette of tone color gives it the ability to emulate ?a miniature orchestra?. These characteristics make the guitar the ideal instrument to reflect both the character and sensuality of the dances that occur throughout Bizet?s Carmen?Aragonaise, Habanera, Seguidillas, and Danse Bohéme?as well as Carmen?s sober ?Chant de la Mort?. Recommended for the advanced guitarist, Carmen Suite is written in standard notation with extensive digitation and occasional drop-D tuning. In Néstor Ausqui?s Carmen Suite, ??the guitar both sings like a human voice and accompanies itself, giving the work an irrefutable guitar identity. The characteristic feeling manifested in Spanish dance is now expressed through the guitar with a full and defined instrumental singularity.? ? Guillermo Rene? Alvarez Musicologist, Professor at the Instituto Superior de Mu?sica, Universidad Nacional del Litoral-Argentina

Glitter and glamour good-looking people a lot of Bling Bling and fast cars ? images like these will cross our minds when we think of the movie world. However reality proves to be different : as a rule a tremendous amount of work will have been done on the set before a film is ready to be shown on the big screen. A visit to an actual movie set inspired John Emerson Blackstone to write a composition bearing the same name. He had both seen a number of characteristic attributes and heard the typical phrases used in film making and he incorporated them into ?On the Movie Set? . In the first part ?The Clapboard? a ?director?s assistant? is supposed to shout ?Quieton the set?? and ?Action!? as is done before a real scene is shot. Subsequently in order to create the right atmosphere the clacking of a ?Clapboard? should be heard. During a romantic scene we should be transported to another world by means of sweet sounds in the background so romantic music is of course heard in the next part ?Love Scene?. At the end of a long working day ?It?s a wrap? is called on the set to inform everyone that the filming on that day is completed. Now there is only one more thing left to dream of : an Oscar..... Perf. Note: The use of the right props will add to the performance and appreciation of ?On the Movie Set?. A red carpet and a glamorous reception should give your audience the feeling they are attending a real ?opening night?!

Par RAMEAU JEAN-PHILIPPE. Richer than ever – Rameau’s “Zoroastre” in the version of 1756. Opera in five acts. Rameau’s revised version of his opera “Zoroastre”, which could be heard and seen between 20 January 1756 and 26 March 1757 at the Académie royale de musique, was favourably received. Also from today’s point of view the work profits dramaturgically from many of the changes and seems altogether richer and more tightly woven than the original of 1749. The opera includes some of Rameau’s most ecstatic and spiritual musical numbers, such as the episode of sun worship in Act 3 with the sublime „Hymne à la Lumière“, which, for unknown reasons, was not integrated in the revision of 1756. It is therefore included in Appendix 3 of this Bärenreiter edition. Incidentally, with “Zoroastre” the prologue, wh ich had been customary since the beginnings of French opera in the 1670s, was abandoned. Instead Rameau was the first to introduce an overture which set the scene for the entire drama and thereby anticipated Gluck’s opera reform by many years. Here we present the instrumental numbers for concert performance. - Based on the first scholarly-critical edition, published as part of “Opera Omnia Rameau” - Instrumental numbers in order of performance, but also grouped by key in the list of contents, enabling them to be combined freely into orchestral suites - Published with performance material on hire / Date parution : 2022-11-08/ Répertoire / Orchestre

for High Voice and Piano-Berlioz composed songs while still a child and in 1819 at the age of sixteen he had a romance published at his own expense. Though he later turned primarily to large-scale forms he never entirely abandoned the art song for he was constantly inspired by poetry. His settings reveal a wealth of luxuriant melody that he viewed with pride to the end of his days. Many of his songs were subsequently scored for full orchestra. This volume contains songs from Berlioz?s early and middle periods. It is based on the scholarly -critical New Berlioz Edition which gathers together all of his songs for the very first time and presents them in a reliable text at the cutting edge ofscholarship. A detailed preface discusses the genesis and transmission of each song and outlines its source materials. Each song is preceded by its words in the original language and in English translation. Thus the volume provides an ideal foundation for rediscovering this romantic repertoire. With the Urtext of the ?New Berlioz EditionFirst scholarly-critical editionDetailed preface (Eng ./ Ger.)English translation to each song

Par VAN NUETEN GUY. Contact by Guy Van Nueten originated from the feeling of being abandoned, such as a person who treks through a barren desert following a great disaster and asks himself if there's any point in carrying on when every day brings just more of the same - still more desert. I suspect that each of us has such a desert within himself, but that it depends on circumstances whether or not we choose to make the journey through it. Contact lays out a path that we can share. This music seems especially romantic to me, in the sense that the sounds have much to say about loneliness. There are moments where this album emphasises its own seriousness, then immediately afterwards invites us todance. Contact sticks out a hand, sometimes two, mostly to show the internal process of the composer - firstly the lack of fire and the abandoned longing for this, followed by the bewilderment that there is something that is still smouldering and that can be fanned into a blazing forest fire to burn away all the pain of desolation. For this reason it is also moving music - because it wants the recognition of the listener, wants us to feel our own desolation while the piano explores further depths and heights. At times a composition is almost carelessly abandoned and another one begun. Whoever looks closely at feelings and is honest with himself and the world is always a little cruel. But finally there is an end to that desert - he sees an oasis and also a beautiful hotel. Upon entering, he sees no-one, not even at the desk, but the reigning play of light and colour is of an otherworldly power. Maybe no other people are needed here and the beauty that prevails is enough. Then sounds of music arise and some people move across to the immense hall where a wing has been set up, behind which a man is sitting, his fingers moving across the keyboard. And only one thing is real: after desolation comes comfort. That person is you and that person is me. And that music is called Contact, directly from the soul of Van Nueten. (+)
For Viola and Piano this is the composer's first opused work. Premiered at the Wigmore Hall in July 1959 by Cecil Aronowitz and Margaret Kitchen.Wood: In 1957 I knew I had newly discovered the music of Schoenberg and hispupils and I knew at once that they were to show me the way forward for my music; as indeed they have ever since. The revelation was primarily an emotional experience for me and however imperfectly their influence wasreceived it was obviously reflected in the all-out chromaticism (new for me then) in the many chains of twelve notes or lesser chromatic formations (which do not here amount to serial working and have only rarely done sosince) in the characteristic harmonic and rhythmic formations the wide and sometimes angular intervals of the melodies and in general the introverted romanticism. Anyway I knew then that this was the sort of music that Ihenceforth would want to write and so I called these Variations my Opus One.The declamatory Introduction leads into the Theme heard on the viola. Six Variations follow of which No.3 is the most violent and No.4 the mostsustainedly lyrical. The recitative-like sixth variation leads into the Finale a more extended movement. The Theme returning on the piano leads to a climax at which there is a citation from Beethoven’s C minor Variations forpiano. Then their characteristics sequence of chords is heard on the piano as an accompaniment to the final statement of my own theme on the viola in the closing bars of the work.

(+)
Par PART ARVO. 'In principio' takes its words from the Gospel of John 1:1-14 and puts them into a five-movement form. This work, as in all of Pärt's music, is governed by a strict formal design, with the clarity of the musical structure corresponding to that of the Latin text. The first movement (vv. 1-5) and the fifth (v. 14) are limited to two opposing formal elements: a static, syllabically articulated A-minor chord, and its timbral and tonal opposite, a fanfare-like figure that expands with each new section, growing in loudness and returning to its beginning after traversing all twelve keys. The second movement (vv. 6-8), devoted to John the Baptist, is conceived as a powerfully moving single-voice monody. The central third movement (vv. 9-11) is not only the longest but the one whose message Pärt specially emphasised by repeating the words three times - something he had never done before in his vocal music. He evidently did so to send a signal directly to each and every one of us. The fourth movement (vv. 12-13) seems to begin ex nihilo, growing slowly but with an ineluctable pulse in a mighty procession. The fifth movement (v. 14) constitutes, in combination with the first, the formal and expressive frame of the composition, albeit in mirror reflection. If the chorus in the first movement statically pulsates while the orchestra proceeds dynamically through the circle of keys, these roles are reversed in the fifth movement. Thus, the expanding thrust given to the orchestra in the opening movement is now focused entirely on the text of the chorus. (Wolfgang Sander, translation by J. Bradford Robinson)/ Répertoire / Chœur Mixte [SATB] et Orchestre

(+)
This collection of Rummel's J.S. Bach 'adaptations' for the Piano presents twelve titles from the original twenty-five originally published by J & W Chester between 1922 and 1938, demonstrating a range of styles from the contemplative Liebster Jesu, Wir Sind Hier to the uninhibited Sturze zu Boden. A close friend of Debussy, Rummel belonged to a younger generation of leading composers, leading a trend away from previous Keyboard transcribers, established by Busoni, Liszt, Reger and others who concentrated on adapting Bach's Organ works rather than the Vocal music. <br>This vibrant collection is suitable for intermediate to advanced pianists but will be of interest to all who enjoy Bach's music for Keyboard. <br>Born in Berlin to a diversely creative family, Walter Rummel (1887 - 1953) was surrounded by art and music from an early age. He came from a pedigree of distinguished musicians, his family home a favoured meeting place for musicians and artists alike. His great grandfather, Christian Rummel (1787 - 1849) was director of the court orchestra at Wiesbaden for Duke Wilhelm of Nassau and his maternal grandfather, Samuel Morse (1791 - 1892), the American painter and inventor of the telegraph. / [J.S.
