This Johnny Mercer, Harry Warren tune was premiered by jazz legend Louis Armstrong and nominated for an Academy Award in 1938. The lighted-hearted, innocently flirtatious song has since become an iconic standard. Jay's fantastic arrangement includes the opening verse, some easy scat singing, and plenty of jazz sonorities throughout. Add the rhythm section SoundPax for even more style.

The Dakota (or Sioux) Indians from the American states of North and South Dakota form the central figures in this composition. The work consists of five movements in which the culture and history of these Indians have been portrayed through musical paintings by making use of an old South Dakota Indian melody.

Kafka's ouvre is interspersed with moments of utter anxiety. Moments in which, induced by adrenalin, the blood pressure rises. Blood vessels which seem to constrict, pump enormous quantities of blood the pressure of which might make one believe that the head is going to explode. In The Judgment, an innocent opening story leads to one of the most unusual showdowns in world literature: The beloved father sentences his son to death by drowning; the son immediately obeys since his life, his existence almost explodes, becomes blurred, dissolves at the moment the judgment is pronounced. For me, the 'self' driving him - I imagine this as a high sound in the inner ear - could only be a soprano. This is why the actual 'fall' has turned out to be clear, almost friendly and why Georg only seems to want to breathe a soft and quiet 'Dear parents, I have always loved you' during the fall while no longer keeping the singing tone, shortly before death, almost casually, takes hold of him. Here's a memorable and humorous contrast for your winter concert. A gregarious student or staff member in the guise of âBeethoven returnedâ suddenly appears on your concert stage in this comedy skit for band. The music begins as an innocent Christmas medley, but by the time it's over, âBeethovenâ owns your band, and you, the director, are vanquished from the stage. Of course there are lots of laughs along the way.

This popular work reflects a shift in Mahler's musical development, as he formulated the sophisticated idea of the program. In this case, the poetic idea traces the progress from experience---as represented by the first movement---to the innocent, childlike vision of Paradise.

Drawing on the contrast of darkness against light, this innovative work is menacing at times, seemingly innocent at others, and nearly out of control at its most volatile moments. A static rhythmic pulse forms the backdrop for the entire piece as shadows seem to move throughout darkness in a playful yet deceitful way. An invigorating and unique work!

This tender anthem portrays the true significance of the nativity through the innocent inquisitiveness of a child’s question about the Little Bitty Babe in a Manger. The answer is that He is God’s beloved Son through whom God’s work will be done. (From the cantata Images of Adoration, SATB—65/2061L).

Žibuoklė Martinaitytė tells about the background of Aletheia (2022) for mixed choir (SSSSAAAATTTTBBBB): Aletheia is variously translated from Greek as unconcealedness, revealing or unclosedness. It is uncovering of the Truth - the one we are afraid to face, the truth that can only be expressed directly through the pre-verbal communication. How do you find words for the horrors of the war, for all unimaginable global atrocities? How do you even allow yourself to feel it out? Solely through art, through music that offer a safe space and a formalized framework for processing these accumulated complex emotions and sharing them with others in a moment. This piece has no verbal text and it is based on various combinations of vowels and consonants, thus connecting us on a deeper level through the immediate emotional experience. The war in Ukraine in spring of 2022 had an impact on all of us and shattered my deeply rooted Lithuanian identity. When the freedom is threatened and innocent people are dying, it is hard to make sense out of the reality. Yet there is poetry even in the worst nightmares. I was imagining that the only instrument people have even in situations of destruction, in the midst of the war, is their VOICE. It brought back memories of my youth when Singing revolution was taking place in the Baltic countries. Human voice was the only weapon that people used to express their determination for freedom and independence. Voice is our first and the very last instrument we have in our lifetime. Thinking in these terms brings almost a sacred dimension to the voice as an expression of the life itself - from the very first baby's scream until the last breath and whisper.Duration c. 15'The works of New York -based Lithuanian composer Žibuoklė Martinaitytė (b. 1973) have been lauded as breathtaking and profoundly moving. Her stimulating music bristles with energy and tension and revolves often around the subject of beauty, which she calls both a guiding principle and an aesthetic measure for sonic quality.
