An opera in four acts for ensemble chorus and soloists in full score from minimalist composer Philip Glass. It is Glass's first and longest opera taking approximately five hours to complete with no intermission. Given thenature of the music - the lengthy repetition of small elements very gradual development and change recurring patterns - audience members are free to enter and leave as they wish.

Philip Sparke was so inspired and moved by his first visit to New York that he had to capture the moment in one of his compositions. At first a general picture of New York is presented as all the sights and sounds are taken it. Eventually the composer finds himself in Manhattan. Walking along a street music can be heard wafting from one of the jazz-clubs. This musical representation of personal impressions creates an extremely memorable work.

This is the Full Score of Philip Glass's wonderful Violin Concerto No.2 'American Four Seasons' arranged for Violin and Orchestra. The piece was commissioned by Toronto SymphonyOrchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra among others the world premiere was held in Toronto on December 9th 2009 conducted by Peter Oundjian. At this premiere the violinist was Robert McDuffie for whomthe Concerto was composed. During the summer and autumn of 2009 Glass composed this work after many years of exchanges with McDuffie. His idea of creating a work that would be influenced by and an accompaniment toVivaldi's 'The Four Seasons'. Interestingly Glass has provided no indication in the score of where each season falls making it open for interpretation by the performers or the audience.
