In seinem wohl bekanntesten Titel Music, einer Ode an die Musik, packte John Miles viele verschiedene musikalische Aspekte und Elemente: Rhythmisch von langsam bis schnell, dynamisch von leise bis laut und in der Instrumentierung zwischen Streichern und Rockband wechselnd, zeigte er in einem Titel, was Musik alles sein kann und damit auch, warum er diese Kunst so liebt. Dieses Arrangement für eine zehnstimmig variable Besetzung erlaubt auch schon weniger erfahrenen Musikern, ihre Liebe zur Musik zu entdecken und zu entfalten.

With Clouds Descending is a fantasy on the powerful Advent hymn Helmsley which is long associated with another Advent hymn - Wesley’s Lo! He Comes with Clouds Descending. The hymn tune is divided into an introduction and three complete verses of Helmsley, which surround a slower central section, whose melody is derived from the last line of the hymn tune. Philip Sparke’s grade 4 arrangement of this majestic piece for Brass Band is equally suitable as a concert opener or a main concert piece.
