Thierry Vaillot, guitariste, pianiste et compositeur, est responsable entre autres des classes d?harmonie de l?école Jazz à Tours et d?ateliers de musique d?Europe de l?Est et de Jazz manouche. Il s?occupe aussi de la coordination de la phase préparatoire du DEM jazz de cette école. Par ailleurs, il intervient au Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood dans le cadre d?ateliers autour de la musique des Balkans. Musicien de jazz à l?origine, il multiplie les projets métissant le jazz et les musiques des balkans, indiennes et méditerranéennes. Les grandes étapes de la guitare sont aussi étudiées dans un ordre quasi-chronologique. Il n'est pas obligatoire d'aborder cette méthode dans l'ordre d'apparition des chapitres. Nous avons essayé de garder une logique de présentation des accords tout au long de l'ouvrage : les accords simples apparaissent en début de méthode, les plus complexes plutôt vers la ?n. Les exemples musicaux de Ma première Guitare jazz peuvent être joués à la guitare électrique ou acoustique. Certains chapitres nécessitent le jeu au médiator, d'autres le jeu aux doigts.
