Commissioned by the Richardson (Texas) Community Band, Silver Celebration commemorates 25 years of service by their conductor, George Jones. The work combines elements of traditional march style and also the bravura of epic film scores, resulting in a piece that is both festive and celebratory in nature. The opening is a rousing 6/8 march featuring various sections of the band and exciting cross rhythms, and then contrasted with a beautifully flowing lyric statement. A brief percussion feature leads to the final section, recapping the opening themes with a flourish and dramatic appeal. Duration: 5:00.

This is the last in the trilogy of settings of verses from a collection that Sarah White calls her Widow Poems, written after the sudden death of a lover. Each of the three represents a different stage in the arc of the poet's grief. In this one, written on the first anniversary of the beloved's death, a trace of whimsy has entered White's language and the music masterfully captures this same emotion. Mark Hayes has imagined a delightfully new arrangement for this holiday classic. In a bright shuffle feel, the song has bounce and syncopated rhythms not usually heard. The piece is just perfect for all ages and has a fantastic orchestral track available as well as instrumentation.
