Adventure Land was commissioned by Clermont Communauté (which includes the city and suburbs of Clermont-Ferrand) and the CREA (the directors of the local music schools and conservatoires). This work was the opening piece of a show combining orchestra, choir and actors, which was co-written by the author and producer David Bulcourt. The story takes place in the city of Clermont-Ferrand, which an explorer discovers through a series of riddles and adventures. Adventure Land is written in the form of a symphonic march which features a slow and pleasant passage in the middle of the work. The result is a dynamic and playful piece, similar to the style that one might find in cartoons or animated films.

Stephen Albert's Into Eclipse for Tenor and Chamber Orchestra. Full score.'Into Eclipse is based on Ted Hughes' adaptation of Seneca's Oedipus. The five episodes chosen astexts for this musical setting form an abbreviated version in song of this Roman dramatisation of the Oedipus myth.Seneca's play has no external action. As Peter Brook informs us in his introduction to the play '...it takes place nowhere...possibly it was read aloud in the bathhouse to friends.' It therefore seemed possible to take the essential elements of the tale and transform them into a rather complete musical statement that wasnon-theatrical yet dramatic in its own terms. Into Eclipse is thus not a monodrama nor even a solo oratorio but rather a 'Herosong.' It is somewhat in the tradition but not of course in the manner of earlyballadeers and minstrels who often set ancient stories and myths to music and performed these musical narratives for both court and country village.The story is sung from different viewpoints (that of Creon thechorus of citizens and of course Oedipus the king) all encompassed within the bounds of one man's voice and his complement of instruments. There is no concious attempt to 'paint' or emphasise particular words or phrases withinthe text nor was there an effort to musically heighten Seneca's already nightmarish vision with its withering onslaught of bloodthirsty images. A Chorale arranged for 15 Instruments. Full Score for ensemble.Bach's Befichl du deine Wege is a chorale setting (BWV 272) which Hans Abrahamsen has arranged for fifteen instruments. In Hans Albrahamsen's adaptation Bachs chorale gradually ernerges from two melodic fragments both borrowed from the Danish composer Poul Ruders' Four Dances in One Movernent'. In fact both fragments are taken from the last three bars of Ruders' composition. One of Ruders' small melodies is descending the other is ascending. The metamorphosis from Ruders to Bach can be accomplished because both of Ruders' melodic fragments are in fact 'hidden' among the parts of this Bach choraleinasmuch as the composer has transposed it into B minor. In the first verse we hear only the descending Ruders melody. In the secend verse Ruders' second ascending and chrornatically coloured melody is added. In the subsequent verses more and more melodies are added. Thus the piece begins with Poul Ruders' melodic fragment in the foreground. In the course of the next verse Ruders' material gradually recedes into the background and permits Bachs face to ernerge with increasing clarty in the foreground.
