From a personal point of view it was written in memory of my childhood best friend Claire who sadly died of cancer aged 10. I think most people will be able to relate to the moods of the three movements and draw from their ownlife experiences in order to create the expression desired.Living Life begins with a pure and innocent piano introduction where life twinkles into being. The performers should aim for a sweetness and pure innocence. At this stage there have been no challenges and trials. Try to see this through theeyes of a child. At bar 71 we should be able to soar with the sheer exuberance and joy of life. Themood begins to take a downward turn via the piano there after bar 91. This is where situations begin to take a turn for the worse with much more agitation and a darker emotion takes over.Troubled Times now takes us onto a road that we would prefer not to be on everything should be quite agitated and restless. I had a strong feeling in this movement that it should show a battle of wills within; trying to stay positive (the sweeter timbral trills) and trying to fight the ever nagging negative thoughts. Performers should feel able to release fully where the score is marked 'desperately' because these are the cries of one who is struggling to keep fighting. At letter E the pianist should play almost with anger with strong stress to accented notes. At letter H the timbral trills stop abruptly and this indicates that the struggle is over if you imagine a heart monitoring machine that suddenly gives out is length monotone indicating the end of life. The rest of the movement relaxesinto the peace of the final movement.Flying Free is similar in feel to Living Life. You will see that the initial theme is reversed. In the first movement we see the theme very introverted probably as we often look inwards in life. In

Par NODA. Maï by Ryo Noda, a Japanese composer, is a unique piece of work for solo Saxophone that is strongly influenced by Japanese music. With some sonority supposed to be quite close to those of a koto and of a shakuhachi, this piece is very technical and complex to play. The story behind this work is about the ghost of a Japanese Samurai. While his wife asks why he let her behind and left to fight in the war, he tries to justify his choices. Most of the work depicts the struggle within the mind of the Samurai, between ending his life and living in the end of his enemies. The screaming altissimo at the end is the climax of his strugglewhich then followed by a 10 second silence that represents his death. Highly melodious, this piece, subtitled ; Sicilianna, is quite challenging (upper intermediate/advanced level) and lasts 7 and a half minutes. The four parts of this piece are: 1. Czardas is a piece for a Saxophone quartet (SATB) by Vittorio Monti. This composition arranged by Armando Ghidoni lasts 5’30 minutes and has a name taken from a Hungarian National Dance. Divided into six distinctive parts this piece is really cheerful and energetic. It requires some really strong technique as some sections are really fast. - Lento cadenza a piacere / Largo Maestoso - Vivace - Lento Maestoso - Vivace - Piu Mosso - Presto Czardas is the most famous piece by Vittorio Monti which was also arranged for other instruments: Violin andGuitar String quartet and accordion among others. It is a really entertaining work to play that will definitely be enjoyed by the audience during a recital. Vittorio Monti is an Italian composer mandolinist and violinist who worked in many gypsy orchestras.

It is, on the contrary, an audio CD which has been recorded for sale as a trio CD under my name. Mixing the recordings at the studio, however, gave us the idea to offer this CD Legal Paradizer also as a play along CD. For this reason I have never taken a pedagogic approach to the musical conception of the pieces performed, which, in my opinion, is exactly what makes these recordings so unique. The structure of none of the pieces is, for instance, as simple as that of the tunes on some other play along CDs. Therefore, I have taken the liberty of adding a short explanationand/or comment on every piece meant to make it easier for you to follow the road map of the tunes. Additionally I have explained some stylistic features to help you interprete the individual pieces. Working with my students has shown me how much fun it can be to also offer groove and funk oriented music on a CD to play along. In most of the pieces you do not necessarily have to follow the changes; you should rather develop simple ideas in time. He taught at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris lodging with Canon Fulbert whoadmired his work. In time he also became tutor to Fulbert's beautiful seventeen-yearoldniece Helo se.Abelard and Helo se began a passionate love affair (Dance of Peter and Helo se) which resulted in a son Astrolabe.For the sake of Abelard's position they married secretly and Canon Fulbert waspresent at their marriage. But Fulbert later reacted furiously to news that Abelard hadsent Helo se to a convent believing that hehad abandoned her in favour of his owncareer. In revenge he had Abelard castrated (Revenge of Canon Fulbert).After his mutilation Abelard became a monk and he and Helo se remained constantcorrespondents for theremainder of his life. He composed a hymnbook for Helo se who by then was Abbess of the convent of the Paraclete. Among the hymns was avisionary poem of the New Jerusalem set to a beautiful melody in the Dorian mode O QuantaQualia.On his death in 1142 his remains were taken to the Paraclete at Helo se's request andher body was later laid to rest in the same tomb.
