The early hits by supergroup Chicago were remarkable for their driving rock style combined with a distinctive and integral use of horns. This 7-minute medley of early hits will introduce a new generation to these iconic hits andbring a touch of nostalgia to your pop, jazz and concert groups.

This little tribute to William Ferris and the William Ferris Chorale consists of two sections the first slow and the second quick. The text is simply the two words of the title the Amen being the first section and (with minimal overlap) the Alleluia the second. In each part the relevant word is gradually built up from its component syllables or sounds and the second section is a gradual progress from a quiet light texture to a blazing final cadence. Commissioned by the William Ferris Chorale for their 20th Anniversary Season and first performed by them on 27 March 1992 at Mount Carmel Church Chicago Illinois conducted by William Ferris.

Best effects are achieved when all songsare performed together as intended but these fifties-inspired numbers are just as successful individually. Performance time is approximately 6 minutes.Grease first opened in 1971 in Chicago but was soon moved to Broadway where the story of the students of Rydell High remains the 15th longest running show. The multiple revivals and adaptations make it a staple on all levels of theatre.The film-adaptation of the same name released in 1978 starring John Travolta Olivia Newton-John Stockard Channing and Jeff Conaway was highly successful both critically and at the box office keeping it the No. 1 highest-grossing musical in the United States to date. With the announcement of a three-hour live television broadcast of Grease in 2016 this score is not only guaranteed to be fun to rehearse and perform but is also more relevant than ever!

In We both reached for the gun, Roxie is accused of killing her violent lover and Flynn’s argument is that they both ‘reached for the gun’ at the same time – Roxie had no choice but to kill him, or she would have died. In the staging, Roxie is portrayed as Billy’s mechanical puppet, which is why the music has a certain mechanical, even clockwork quality to it. This is a patter song, full of long streams of words, so take care not to go too fast.
