This edition is based on the critical edition of The Barber of Seville edited by Patricia B. Brauner and published in 2008 as part of the series Works of Gioachino Rossini. But who needs a new critical edition of The Barber of Seville? The opera has been performed in theatres throughout the world since 1816 and has never been absent from the repertoire. There are two reasons for a critical new edition: firstly none of the early editions satisfy modern demands for a scholarly-critical edition. And secondly there is a wealth of previously unpublished material relating to this opera of great interest to both scholars and performers.Thusthe famous overture which Rossini had already used in his earlier opera Aureliano in Palmira differs noticeably from earlier editions in many places. Chandons Te Deum HWV 281. Par HAENDEL GEORG FRIEDRICH. Handel composed the 'Te Deum” in B-flat major HWV 281 in 1718 for the future Duke of Chandos, hence its nickname 'Chandos Te Deum”. Here it is called 'Te Deum for Cannons” after the Duke's stately home named Cannons where the first performance took place. The unusual scoring for flute, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, two violins and basso continuo plus a choir (one soprano, three tenors and a bass) probably reflects the musicians which were available at Cannons, bearing in mind that three tenors were used also in 'Acis and Galatea”, the masque which was composed at almost the same time. Though in many respects this 'Te Deum” is reminiscent of the 'Utrecht Te Deum”, its smaller forces tend to give it more the character of chamber music. This edition is based on the Urtext from the 'Halle Handel Edition” (BA 10708), which offers the first complete scholarly text of the music for the 'Te Deum”./ Répertoire / Chant et Piano

All three are for solo voice: soprano in the case of RV 617 and contralto in that of RV 616 and RV 618. The last two settings are scored for two instrumental cori and introduce woodwind instruments respectively a flute and a pair of oboes whereas the instrumentation of the first is confined to strings disposed in a single coro although a solo violin is employed in three movements. RV 617 preserved in a non-autograph source in Brno belongs to Vivaldi's first period of sacred music composition at the Pietà (1713-1717) while RV 616 and RV 618 are works of his maturity dating from the years around 1730. RV 617 is laid out in four movements RV 616 and 618 in six movements. All three works are noteworthy for the tenderness of their expression and skilful writing for both the voice and the instruments. The Introduction and Critical Commentary for these vocal scores prepared by Antonio Frigé are closely based on those of the Critical Editions by Michael Talbot published in 1998 1990 and 1994.
