La formation du Trio Polycordes (mandoline, guitare et harpe) et la particularité commune de leur mode de jeu attaque/résonance m'ont évoqué la sonorité des cloches et leurs divers types d'émission. Aussi les cinq parties qui composent cette pièce font référence aux cinq principaux modes de sonneries campanaires : 1. Carillon, 2. Tintement, 3. Tocsin, 4. Volée, 5. Glas. Loin d'être illustrative, l'écriture explore ici les multiples possibilités de ces instruments. Whilst making no claims to be stylistically authentic, this little piece aims to capture the infectious spirit of mariachi, a word whose origins are lost in the mists of time, but which describes not only the performers (on guitars, vihuelas, violins, trumpets and harp) but also the music itself. Their music speaks of love, passion, politics, life in the country and revolutionary heroes but is unerringly uplifting in style and immediately recognisable as the spirit of Mexico. Par COMBIER JEROME. Petite obscurité est composée à partir de l'Offrande Musicale de Jean-Sébastien Bach. Tâche délicate, un peu audacieuse (quoique souvent perpétrée), peut-être impossible, mais qui dit avant tout mon profond attachement à cette musique. Le modèle n'apparaît toutefois jamais ostensiblement, mais toujours de manière voilée, cryptée, déformée, comme une charpente invisible. C'est peut-être avant tout le caractère contrapuntique de la musique qui révèle la filiation et que j'ai souhaité mettre en lumière. Mais les lignes mélodiques qui constituent ces contrepoints sont déformées par des quarts de ton et si intimement unies (canon à la seconde mineure, contrepoint dans le registre aigu, canon dit 'écrevisse') qu'elles finissent par créer entre elles des irisations, des reflets, et par basculer dans le registre du timbre. Elles jalonnent la partition comme autant de salles - obombrées, a giorno - où le temps se fige, mais pour un instant seulement car la musique, loin d'y séjourner reprend son cours. Dans Petite obscurité, il fut question pour moi de ne rompre jamais la fluidité que j'ai souhaité lui donner. Le titre est emprunté aux écrits apocryphes d'Esther Hallam Meynell La petite chronique d'Anna Magdalena Bach : 'Deux chandelles entre nous (je faisais toujours bien attention de les moucher, afin que la fleur de lumière ne soit pas gâtée par une épine d'obscurité), nous travaillions en silence.' / contemporain / Répertoire / Flûte Traversière Clarinette, Guitare, Alto et Vio
