Par BEDNALL DAVID. La grêle, Gladdening Light a été rédigé à la demande de Matthew Owens pour le choeur de la cathédrale de Wells et fut créé à la Chandeleur 2006. Le compositeur a longtemps été un admirateur de l'établissement par Charles Wood et donc voulu créer une oeuvre avec une atmosphère totalement différente, particulièrement en mettant l'accent sur la lumière mystique. L'ouverture et la clôture articles utilisent le Chant grégorien pour Chandeleur - un paramètre troped de la dimittis Nunc. Où ces articles psalmodiés se produisent qu'ils devraient être unconducted et chantées avec la liberté et le rythme du plain-chant.
