The Serenade, Op. 37 was conceived for Cello with Piano accompaniment, but later in life the composer scored the work for the solo instrument with orchestra. The Low Brass world knows Rimsky-Korsakov for his Trombone Concerto for Band. The Serenade has a very similar mood to the slow movement of the Concerto. It's beautiful lilting rhythm combined with a wonderful melody makes this work very worthwhile.Mr. Sauer's arrangement brings a beautiful feel to this 4 minute work, which is appropriate for advanced performers.Part s for Bass and Treble readers are supplied.

Arnold Schoenberg's Six Little Pieces, Opus 19, originally for Piano, were published in 1913 at a time when the composer was reacting to his feelings of the excesses of the Romantic Period. They were composed concurrently with his gigantic work Gurre-Lieder. The first five pieces were written in one day and the last one shortly after the death of Gustav Mahler as a rumored tombeau or memorial. Mr. Sauer has deftly arranged these six short pieces of around 5 minutes in length for advanced performers.Parts are supplied for bass and treble readers.

A rhythmic composition in which the cells quaver / two semiquaver and two semiquaver / quaver are like a leitmotiv until the end of the Piece. The numerous triplets are a wink of Rhapsody in Blues from George Gershwin. My goal was to facilitate the listening, the exchange and the mimicry between the two associated players: no tandem (Temps d'M) without that!

Orange was the popular color of tango dancers at tango's height during the twenties. The melody is as bright as the color, pleasant and is not bereft of ardour. Ideal for a first contact with Tango.

A Jazz waltz (dedicated to my uncle who was so benevolent during my early stages!) that may remind Erik Satie's Gymnopedies or the famous Bluesette from Toots Thielemans.
