The Syncopated Piano Music-This collection showcases the syncopated piano music of Latin American during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It features Latin rhythms which are really African rhythms brought to the Americas by slaves and appliedto the music of the European colonists. These rhythms are varied and complex and so is their history. They've had a widespread and profound influence on the evolution of popular music not only in Latin America but also in theUnited States. The most obvious offshoots are the tango in Argentine and Uruguay and most of the other popular dances of South and Central America as well as ragtime and jazz in the United States. Jelly Roll Morton claimed this'Latin tinge' is the essential element that distinguishes jazz from ragtime. These rhythms are the musical roots of groups like 'The Buena Vista Social Club.' Includes historic tangos written by Ignacio Cervantes - Cuba Manuel Saumell - Cuba Juan Morel Campos - Puerto Rico Jose Quinton - Puerto Rico Ernesto Nazareth -Brazil Tomas Leon - Mexico Sebastian Yradier - Spain Eduardo Sanchez du Fuentas - Cuba Will Tyers - USA Vincente Greco -Argentina Anselmo Rosendo (Mendizabal) - Argentina Angel Villoldo - Argentina Eduardo Arolas - Argentina Juan Maglio - Argentina

Without Jealousy-Per Nørgård's A Tortoise Tango (Without Jealousy) is a work f...(+)
Without Jealousy-Per Nørgård's A Tortoise Tango (Without Jealousy) is a work for Piano Solo composed in 1984.Programme noteA Tortoise´s Tango(1984) ´Light of a Night - Paul with bird (1989) and ´Esperanza - Hermit Crab Tango´(1997) are (the first) three movements of a suite ´Animals in Concert´ for piano. 1. A Tortoise´s Tango - Skildpadde-tango (1984) - dur.: 4´ 2. Light of a Night - Paul meets bird (1989) - dur.: 6´ 3. Hermit Crab Tango Esperanza (1997) - dur.: 5´ The movements can be performed separately. The tortoise as tango dancer must presumably possess certain rhythmic peculiarities which I have chosen to express by letting the tune of the tortoise shuffle broadly tripartite through the strict four partite time of tango. Tortoise Tango was the original title of this piece 'written for Achilles' (the pianist Yvar Mikhashoff) for his so called tango project' including new tangos for piano by composers from all over the world. Esperanza and Tortoise Tango were later arranged for saxophone quartet (by Jesper Nordin) and for bandoneon and small ensemble (by Niels Rosing-Schow ) Per Nørgård

Schmitz: Mini-Tango Tangissimo! It's not only our legs, but our fingers, too, that find the tango rhythm irresistible! Manfred Schmitz proves this in all 34 pieces of his Mini Tango. From the first Tango charlatán to the closing Adios Tango, a South American flair wafts through the pieces ' and their titles, which are also printed in Spanish. In the tangos for piano duet, the two parts are of equal difficulty. Altogether the palette ranges from very easy to medium difficulty. Tangissimo is a rewarding complement to the previous Mini Jazz (DV 31091-93) and Mini Rock (DV 31101 ' 03), both of which are published in three books. Schmitz: Mini-Tango Heft 2 for Piano for six hands With These Minis, It Takes Three to Tango For a long time, there was a little gap in Manfred Schmitz's 'mini' piano series (Mini Jazz, Mini Rock, Mini Tango). Now it's been closed. The 'Mini Tango' now welcomes its six-hand book, which contains a mix of newly written pieces and highlights from the basic book for two and four hands, which were arranged and sometimes considerably expanded. As usual, Schmitz fashions each of the three parts as technically equal in value. Keeping six hands busy, the 'Mini Tango' now brings a new sound quality to group recitals organized by piano teachers. Solo Tango Solo Piano Piano seul [Partition] - Avancé Universal Edition
Gustavo Beytelmann has taken some of the most beautiful tango music ever written...(+)
Gustavo Beytelmann has taken some of the most beautiful tango music ever written and created his own arrangements for solo piano. His collection shows how varied the genre is, from the ragtime-like lilt of El esquinazo to the romantic waltz La loca de amor by Pablo José Vázquez and the energetic El entrerriano by Rosendo Menizabal, as well as a new arrangement of Carlos Gardel's immortal El dia que me quieras.
Beytelmann shows too how technically varied these works can be. Each of the pieces features specific performance techniques such as accents, tempo changes, balance and attack and he advises "Spend some time concentrating on these elements and you will find the works even more enjoyable." These immensely rewarding pieces are equally suited to the concert stage as to the piano lesson.
Gustavo Beytelmann has made a significant contribution to the evolution of the Tango, through his numerous recordings, performances and through his teaching. Born in Argentina, he began his professional career writing music for the cinema, working as pianist and arranger for the record industry and performing with various jazz ensembles. After moving to Paris, Astor Piazzolla invited him to participate in his European tour. He has continued to perform and compose across Europe and the Americas. From 1993 onwards he intensified his work as a composer.
