For the Easy Concert Pieces series, the experienced piano teacher Monika Twelsiek compiled pleasant, easy piano pieces for beginners and published them in two volumes in progressive order. The third volume is in preparation.The two volumes are intended to complement a piano tutorial method and are particularly suitable for performance at auditions at music schools, for examinations and for competitions. They offer varied repertoire in a broad selection of pieces from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern eras.Volume 1 (ED 22547) can already be used by beginners, containing pieces in the five-note range and easy pieces spanning a single octave. Other criteria for selection are simple rhythms and very easy chords. Crossing the thumb underneath, playing several parts together and pedal use are not yet required.Volume 2 (ED 22548) contains pieces with an extended range of two octaves. Crossing the thumb under, pedal use, simple polyphony and three- or four-part chords all feature here, as do simple ornaments, cantabile playing and differentiating between melody and accompaniment. / Piano

On November 6th 1929 at the Small Queen's Hall London Edward Elgar recorded five short improvisations at the piano. He used the piano extensively when composing and the recordings present a fascinating insight into the composer's genius referencing his work on the never-completed piano concerto and other themes in five remarkably cohesive and memorable pieces.Although these recordings were eventually released in 1975 there has not until now been a printed transcription of this music available. In this edition Iain Farrington has skilfully transcribed Elgar's playing to reconstruct the five pieces making a significant addition to the Elgar pianorepertoire.

Written for advanced level players and inspired from African rhythms, the three first compositions can be played each after the other or separately. The five pieces are: Balafon Ambira Akadinda Generalife Pretexte The names of these 5 pieces for Marimba, Vol. 4 were given after different African instruments of wooden blades that can be found in various places. While Pretexte is quite jazzy with itsstrong beat, Generalife is more dynamic and should be played with more energy and character. Emmanuel Sejourne (born in 1961) is a French percussionist and composer, who was strongly influenced by Western music and popular music. Carl Nielsen is perhaps the best known Danish composer and this volume contains a collection of Five Pieces For Piano from Opus 3. There is an interesting range of feeling and sentiment in these intimate miniatures.
