Cette oeuvre réjoint plusieurs de mes oeuvres orchestrales comme Lumen, Lumen II, Ouverture en forme d'étoiles, ma Symphonie #2 'Moz'Art' ou le petit Happy birthday qu'avait créé Felicity Lott et l'Ensemble Orchestral de Paris au théâtre des Champs-Elysées à Paris en 2003. La formation instrumentale, déjà fixée, du concert m'a permis étrangement (mais avec grande joie !) d'utiliser un célesta, un cor, tous les bois, les cordes. L'oeuvre fait des allusions thématiques (mais pas de citations textuelles) à certaines oeuvres majeures de ce compositeur, comme Casse-Noisette ou bien ces dernières symphonies que j'affectionne particulièrement. In 1870, Richard Wagner came up with a rather special birthday present for his wife Cosima. Clouds of Forgetting Clouds of Unknowing (1991-95) contains four different musical textures. In the WhiteSilence (1998) has three. For Lou Harrison (2002) reduces this to just two. In Dark Waves (2007) I finally got to one. When Ifirst heard that piece I began to wonder if I could sustain asimilar sound for a longer span of time. The result is Become Ocean a meditation on the vast deep and mysterious tides of existence.Thetitle is borrowed from a mesostic verse that John Cage wrote in honor of Lou Harrison's birthday. Likening Harrison's music to a river in delta Cage writes: LiStening to it we becOme oceaN. Lifeon this earth first emerged from the sea. And as the polar ice melts and sea level rises we humans find ourselves facing the prospect that once again we may quite literally become ocean.' – John Luther Adams

Par BRITTEN BENJAMIN. Britten began composing his Quatre chansons francaises in June 1928 and had finished the full score by August of that year, before his 15th birthday. The songs reflect the impact of his lessons with Frank Bridge, which had begun in the autumn of 1927, and he dedicated the work, which was among the most ambitious of his compositions at this time, to his parents, on the occasion of their 27th wedding anniversary. The work was composed towards the end of a period of intense compositional activity. It was there that he won the favour of Wilhelmine of Prussia Margravine of Bayreuth a lutenist herself and the sister of Frederick the Great. He composed a variety of music for lute including this Concerto in F Major in three movements: Allegro Andante and Vivace. This edition includes the full orchestral score orchestral parts as well as guitar and lute parts. Victor Van Puijenbroeck has adapted the original solo part and included in the set are parts for both lute (the part has been adaptedfrom lute tablature to modern notation) and guitar (capotasto).
