Cheryl Frances-Hoad's The Whole Earth Dances for Piano Quintet (Piano Violin Viola Cello and Double Bass). The Whole Earth Dances was commissioned by The Schubert Ensemble with funds gratefully received from The Schubert Ensemble Trust Spitalfields Festival New Music Commission Fund and The Steel Charitable Trust and was premiered at Spitalfields Music Festival on Monday 13th June 2016. The Whole Earth Dances is dedicated to the memory of the composer's friend talented Stage designer and Visual artist Becs Andrews who passed away in 2016.

Abstract Mirror is a single movement work for string quintet The composer writes: 'After listening to the Schubert Quintet it occurred to me that one of the many virtues of that score is the way the second cello is absorbed effortlessly into the texture. I became fascinated with the reverse highlighting the added sonority of the bass texture.' The title refers not only to the reverse image that a mirror provides but also to the idea of fragmentation refraction and distortion.

A response to Schubert's String Quintet in C (D956) this work highlights the added bass sonority provided by the second cello. It is a single movement work and explores ideas of fragmentation refraction and distortion.

Based on one of the most famous themes in classical literature, this arrangement by Andrew Dabczynski captures the essence of the 'Trout Quintet.' This music will fall under the fingers of the entire orchestra, with solos for all and special features for the basses!
