100 Studies For Trumpet has been edited by Franz Herbst for Schirmer’s Library Of Musical Classics. It contains a large selection of Etudes for solo Trumpet at Intermediate/Advanced level first published around 1850. Ernst Sachse (1813-1870) was a German composer publisher and virtuosic Trumpeter and Trombonist. He performed as both a soloist and in orchestras in Weimar London Leipzig and Holland. He composed several concertos and concertinos for Bass and Tenor Trombones and also wrote for orchestra and band. Best known today are probably his pedagogical works which are still used in many academies and conservatories.

This collection of solos composed by François Dauverné is unique in that they are among the very first solos ever written for the valved trumpet culled from Collection de VI Solos pour la Trompette Chromatique. The collection comes with a CD that contains piano accompaniments as MP3 files and as printable PDFs as well as printable PDFs of Trumpet in C parts.Dauverné was the first trumpet teacher at the famed Paris Conservatory and maintained that post for thirty-five years. He was also the teacher of such notable students as Jean-Baptiste Arban and Louis Saint-Jacome. As a performer Dauverné was first trumpet in the Paris Opera Orchestra for over thirtyyears. Dauverné is credited for being one of the first individuals to play on the valved trumpet in a public performance and convinced such composers as Berlioz Rossini and Meyerbeer to write for the instrument.This collection of six solos was originally composed for solo trumpet and chamber orchestra. Associate Professor of Trumpet at the University of North Dakota Ronnie Ingle has meticulously transcribed and edited these groundbreaking works for solo trumpet and has made available here for the first time a modern edition for solo trumpet and piano. Par TOMASI HENRI. French composer and conductor, Henri Tomasi (1901-1971) published Variations Gregoriennes Sur Un Salve Regina 1964. As with his other wind compositions, Gregorian Variations for Trumpet and String Orchestra and Organ reduction was well-received by audiences. Tomasi was born in Marseille, but his Father and Mother were originally from La Casinca in Corsica. Despite being pressured in to musical studies by his parents, Tomasi dreamed of becoming a sailor, and during the summer, he stayed with his Grandmother in Corsica where he learnt traditional Corsican songs. However, in1921, he began his studies at the Paris Conservatoire and went on to become a high profile composer and conductor. Tomasi did not forget his Corsican routes, often incorporating themes of the songs he had learnt during the summers with his Grandmother into his compositions. Variations Gregoriennes Sur Un Salve Regina is a highly unusual and modern work based on an old Marian Hymn (a song for the Virgin Mary). The variations exploit tonality, rhythm and structure amongst other aspects.
