Au cours de mon enseignement, les générations passant, je me suis rendu compte que les enfants connaissaient de moins en moins les chansons populaires, ancestrales, que nous transmet la tradition. J'ai eu l'idée de m'en servir pour illustrer leçon après leçon, l'évolution de l'apprentissage de la clarinette. D'abord la main gauche jusqu'au sib, puis en ajoutant peu à peu la main droite jusqu'au Sol grave et enfin jusqu'au Mi grave. Les chansons sont présentées dans un ordre de difficulté progressive, aussi bien pour la technique des doigts que par la coordination avec la langue. Les rythmes, en combinaisons binaire/ternaire, ajoutent peu à peu à la difficulté. Les altérations, accidentelles d'abord, sont ensuite indiquées à la clé. Enfin, vers la fin, des doigtés plus complexes donnent encore matière à une évolution raisonnable. Les articulations sont volontairement mélangées afin que l'élève ne s'habitue pas à jouer systématiquement tout lié ! Les tempi indiqués doivent être adaptés aux possibilités de chacun. Ce recueil s'adresse en particulier aux débutants clarinettistes de première et deuxième année, en supplément du travail indispensable de méthode. Paul Simon chose to cover the track after hearing a version of it performed by Jorge Milchberg’s band Urubama.Originally written by Peruvian composer Daniel Alomia Roble Simon personalised the song by adding his own English lyrics. On the Simon & Garfunkel version Robles Milchberg and Simon are all listed in the songwriting credits.This arrangement for SATB choir with piano and optional flute accompaniment is an intriguing piece that draws upon the track’s Andean heritage forhauntingly beautiful harmonies.
