From a series of “American” mass movements Ron Kean has combined the traditional Latin movements with American hymns or folk songs. The “Gloria” follows this pattern partnering an exuberant originalmelody with “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” With festive rhythms and driving percussion this exciting piece is perfect for concert or church. Cruel Sister for three voices (SSA) a traditional ballad arranged by Sarah Dacey. Duration: 4 minutes.Composed: 2010 Also published as part of UYMP's Songspin Songbook ISMN M 57036 603 3. This murder ballad first appeared in broadside in 1656 as The Twa Sisters but is also known as Binnorie and The Singing Bone. The versions vary a great deal for example the Norse version has the authorities bring the family a pipe to identify the murderer. When the older sister plays it blood drips from it and she is condemned to death and pulled apart by horses. My version ends with her unsuccessfully trying to smash the harp in two andthen running into the forests driven mad by the song which will forever pursue her. First performed by Juice Vocal Ensemble on 28th July 2010 at Harrogate Festival St James’ Church Birstwith.

Anthem. Par PURCELL HENRY. The Anthem, in the post-Reformation church music of England was initially the term given to a choral work with an English biblical text. By the end of the 17th century it begins to take on Italian stylistic elements and becomes a cantata for solo voices, choir and orchestra. The anthem 'O sing unto the Lord' presented here, based on words of the 96th Psalm, is a particularly beautiful example of the transformation of the traditional and the modern style into a unified whole.
