Sonáta - Krajina. Par KLEIN GIDEON. The extraordinarily gifted composer and pianist Gideon Klein (1919'1945) was murdered in the Fürstengrube concentration camp at the age of 25. One of the undeniable highlights of his small compositional legacy is his Sonata for Piano. Its three movements were written in reverse order in the Terezín concentration camp in 1943; only a three-measure draft of the intended fourth movement has survived. This first Urtext edition of the piano sonata has been expanded to include the previously unpublished short melodrama 'Landscape' (entitled 'Topol' / 'Poplar' in existing literature) in which the pianist can also take over the recitation part if required. Five Landscapes For Orchestra-This is the Full Score for Nico Muhly's Control: Five Landscapes For Orchestra. Commissioned by Utah Symphony and Thierry Fischer Music Director the work was first performed at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City in December 2015. According to the composer's note Control is a sequence of five episodes that each offer an aural description of some aspect of Utah's landscape space and environment. From the land to the mountains to technology industry and the striking colours of the state Muhly's work is a unique approach to musical representation.

It demonstrates a new archetype in music composition for composers of any genre, as well as composition teachers and anyone interested in ethnomusicology.This book contains a set of 12 etudes for piano and transcriptions for classical guitar. Work for Chamber Ensemble dating from 1989.The composer writes: The Title SHADOWLAND refers on the one hand to a blurred ‘Landscape’ of shadows where small shadows are formed behind other shadows and where the outlines are constantly disintegrating. On the other hand the title refers to the fanciful and unreal landscapes I felt in the music while I was writing it. SHADOWLAND has four movements with proportions 4-7-4-3. These proportions can be found on various levels from the smallest cell to the largest form. The first movement is divided into four parts which have exactly the same proportions as the whole pjece and behind the fastrunning melodies and trills thatdominate the whole movement one can hear in the second third and fourth parts anticipations of the second third and fourth movements respectively. The second movement begins at the edge of silence with almost unperceptible glissandi and indistinct chorales. Gradually the hushed landscape is drowned out by sudden expressive melodic outbursts and ends with violent dance rhythms. The third movement is built up of clouds of staccato tones and is a further development of the pointillistic ideas from CLAIROBSCUR. In th last movement the horn plays a long soloistic melody line which the other instruments imitate and echo. These echoes swamp the horn line from time to time. SHADOWLAND was commissioned by and dedicated to The London Sinfonietta.
