Ave Maria a été composé vers 1825 par Franz Schubert (1797-1828) quand il avait vingt-huit ans et rempli de dévotion à la Bienheureuse Vierge Marie. Elle a été écrite pour voix et piano et d'abord publié en 1826, Op. 52 n o 6. Les mots les plus couramment utilisées avec la musique de Schubert ne sont pas les mots que le compositeur à l'origine mis en musique. Franz Schubert a effectivement écrit la musique pour un extrait du poème 'La Dame du Lac' par Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832), qui a été traduit en allemand par Adam Storck. Schubert a appelé sa pièce Ellens Gesang dritter (troisième chanson d'Ellen). Dans cet extrait du poème en particulier l'héroïne, Ellen Douglas, est en fuite et prie la Vierge Marie. Les oeuvres de musique de chambre sont parmi les plus réussies de Hindemith oeuvres instrumentales des années 1920. Lors de la première mondiale de 'n o Musique de Chambre. 1 ', le public a même exigé une répétition de la troisième et quatrième mouvements. Mais le titre de la série d'oeuvres composée de sept compositions est tout à fait trompeuse: Les pièces individuelles plutôt ont concertante caractéristiques soliste. #1 est caractérisée par 'instruments', comme une boîte remplie de sable et d'une sirène, ainsi que l'utilisation abondante de la percussion. Alliage (Alloy) II (2008) for Viola and Classical Accordion. Player's score. Programme note: The two instuments of this duo are very different in appearance and in the way of playing as well as toneproduction. At first glance this might call for a music which brings out these differences in the nature ofthe instruments distributing distinct even contrasting musical roles to the two players such as melodyversus accompaniment. But I refrain from this obvious ‘casting’ of the instruments since I have alwaysbeen fascinated by the less evident by transitions and gradual displacement by the intangibleplacesbetween one and the other. I search for this ‘terrain vague’ of fruitfull incertainty and permanent genesis.To arrive here I have in this piece written a music which makes hidden relations and unexplored sonorous paths come forward between the sound worlds of the two instruments. Bringing together the musical substances I look for something deeper than just common sounds: a fresh musical place. And the lively and bright sound world that emerges form this instrumental and textural ’in-between’ I associate toalloys in particular the silvery amalgamations of mercury. The Bohemian composer Jan Krtitel Vanhal/Johann Baptist Vanhal (1739-1813) settled in Vienna around 1763. There he wrote several concertos for various instruments, of which two for viola have survived. Both are evidently not original compositions, but arrangements by Vanhal of some of his own works, a common practice of that time. The Viola Concerto in C major is based on Vanhal's cello concerto in the same key.Our new revised edition makes this Concerto available once again.
