Haydn's Symphony Hob. I:89 belongs to a group of symphonies composed between the ?Paris? symphonies (Hob. I:82-87) and their ?London? counterparts (Hob. I: 93-104) the last ones he wrote before his trips to England in 1791-92 and 1794-95.The Symphony in F major is dated 1787 in the autograph score. In this work Haydn borrowed two movements from an earlier piece possibly owing to deadline pressure. The second and fourth movements are arrangements of movements 2 and 3 from his Concerto in F major Hob. VIIh:5 for two ?lire organizzate? and orchestra. The fact that he also arranged movements from his other lire concertos suggests that heregarded them as a sort of musical quarry. This at least allowed him to recycle parts of these works after his patron had probably prohibited him from offering them commercially. This edition continues the collaboration with the Henle publishing company regarding Haydn's large-scale choral works operas and symphonies. It is based on the Henle Complete Edition of the Works of Joseph Haydn. The complete performance material for several Sturm und Drang symphonies and all of the London and Paris symphonies is now available from Bärenreiter.

LOurs-This is the first symphony in the Paris cycle and it was composed in 1786. The nickname The Bear stems from the bagpipe-like theme of the final movement. The composition?s outer movements often described as examples of 'brilliance' and 'splendour' surround the alternating major and minor variations of the slow movement. The simplicity of this movement rings true to Rousseau?s characterisation of 'natural' music.- Large format parts.- Informative Preface (German/English).- Urtext of the Haydn Complete Edition.- Complements the already available Paris symphonies nos. 85 and 87.

Symphony No.8 In G Major
Hob.I: Orchestra: Parts Orchestre Barenreiter
Haydn's Symphony No.8 is the final piece in his triptych on the times of the day...(+)
Haydn's Symphony No.8 is the final piece in his triptych on the times of the day consisting of the symphonies Le Matin Le Midi and Le Soir (Hoboken I:6-8). The cycle originated in 1761 on a commission from Haydn's patron Prince Anton Esterházy. Whether the Prince was hoping for a counterpart to Vivaldi's famous concertos on the four seasons or pursued a different idea can no longer be determined. It was doubtless the purpose of these concertante symphonies to present to a select audience the Prince's chamber ensemble which had been assembled or expanded that spring as well as its new conductor. The pieces are laid out on a large scale full of pomp andsplendour and the scoring at times divided into thirteen separate parts offers virtually every player an opportunity to display his prowess as a soloist. At that time the Esterházy ensemble was made up of six or seven players of the violin or viola (the seventh was actually retained as a flautist) one player each of the violoncello and violone two oboists doubling on flute two horn players and a bassoonist. This listing includes Haydn himself who conducted the ensemble from the first violinist's desk. Contrary to a widely held belief there was no harpsichord. Indeed the only genres that employed a keyboard instrument at that time in the Viennese area were vocal - namely operas cantatas and church music.Urtext from Joseph Haydn WerkeFull score & parts (BA4673) available for sale

KRZYSZTOF) Soli, choeur mixte et accompagnement Soli, chœur mixte et orchestre [Conducteur d'étude / Miniature] Schott
Lieder der Vergänglichkeit for three soloists (SMezBar), mixed choir and orches...(+)
Lieder der Vergänglichkeit for three soloists (SMezBar), mixed choir and orchestra. Par PENDERECKI KRZYSZTOF. The form of this work is not so much based on the classical symphony, but is closer to a song cycle structure which has now grown to include 13 movements for choir and orchestra. The Romantic characteristics and form of the 8th Symphony are both reminiscent of Gustav Mahler’s choral symphonic works and his Lied von der Erde. Krzysztof Penderecki here extends and augments his expressive musical material, for example through cluster techniques and glissandi, possibilities which he has been systematically exploring since the 1950s. He has compiled the texts from poetry by Eichendorff, Rilke, Brecht, Kraus, Hesse, Goethe, Bethge and von Arnim on the theme of ’forests and trees’, which has long been close to his heart as demonstrated by his private arboretum near Luslavice (’my personal Ithaca’) containing over 1500 species of trees./ Répertoire / Solistes, Choeur et Orchestre
