This assessment changed radically during the course of the last century. Through the systematic exploration of his music Telemann once considered purely an instrumental composer has emerged into a highly cultivated culturally well-connected and enormously versatile artistic personality who left an indelible mark on the musical life of his time.Again and again we discover an individual approach in his works that seems to abandon the musical conventions of his day both large and small. The Tafelmusik (Musique de Table) is a collection of chamber pieces for various ensembles arranged into 3 parts and is perhaps Telemann's most celebrated collection of music. Composed in 1733 the Tafelmusik clearly demonstrates Telemann's skill in handling a diversity of musical genres and a variety of instruments.- Urtext of the Telemann Edition

Søren Nils Eichberg's Morpheus - Concerto for Orchestra (2013). Commissioned by The Danish National Symphony Orchestra / DR. Parts are available on hire: hire@ewh.dk Programme note Morpheus in the Greek mythology is the most powerful of the Oneroi the gods of dreams. He is the one who sends us our dreams and he may appear to us within the dreams in disguise. Analogous to the logic of dreams in Morpheus everything is interwoven as chains of associations appear to logically lead us from one line of thought to another. Everything seems strangelyfamiliar. But the logic is treacherous and we already feel it may only be valid within the dream. Nothing that appears similar is actually ever really the same. Half awakening we struggle to hold on to a vanishing world we felt we were on the verge of understanding but which we already know will eventually escape us when we fully awake. Everything remains a mystery until the end. The seven movements/dreamscapes are: Vortex Trees and Walls Escher (Toccata) Crystal Into the Cloud Non-Euclid Arctica

Violin 3 Solo-Concerto in F major for 3 Violins Strings and Basso continuo TWV 53:F1 Tafelmusik IIIf Telemann was regarded by his contemporaries as one of the greatest of all composers his star faced with the overwhelming presence of Bach and Handel paled in the course of the 19th century to the verge of contempt. This assessment changed radically during the course of the last century. Through the systematic exploration of his music Telemann once considered purely an instrumental composer has emerged into a highly cultivated culturally well-connected and enormously versatile artistic personality who left an indelible mark on the musical life of his time. Again andagain we discover an individual approach in his works that seems to abandon the musical conventions of his day both large and small. The Tafelmusik (Musique de Table) is a collection of chamber pieces for various ensembles arranged into 3 parts and is perhaps Telemann's most celebrated collection of music. Composed in 1733 the Tafelmusik clearly demonstrates Telemann's skill in handling a diversity of musical genres and a variety of instruments.- Urtext of the Telemann Edition

or The Slave of Duty-In Gilbert And Sullivan's 'The Pirates of Penzance' our hero is Frederick a young man apprenticed to a pirate king because of a misunderstanding - his nanny misheard his parent's request to apprentice him to a pilot. On the verge of turning his back on the ill-adjusted swashbuckling lifestyle and crew Frederick finds himself torn between his love for Mable his desire to eliminate the scourge of piracy and his sense of duty - the subtitle for the show is 'The Slave of Duty'. Of course the final twist is another identity confusion - just when all seems lost the pirates are bound over to surrender - because they're all orphaned noblemen. They regain their places in the House ofLords. This Vocal score contains all the dialogue and historical notes by Marie Eggold; it is edited by Bryceson Treharne.
