Swedish A Cappella Music Since 1945-This is the first complete survey of Sweden's rich choral music during half a century. Equally suited to music libraries and music institutions and as individual studies for choirs with an interest in Scandinavian music it includes a guide to research a select discography a select bibliography and a list of selected a cappella works relating to the composers interviewed. Dr. Sparks is a Professor of Music at Pacific Lutheran University and is Artistic Director of Choral Arts Northwest a 24-voice chamber choir founded in 1993.

A Christmas Carol (Hungarian folksong)-The piece was written originally for equal voice choir in 1929. A mixed-choir adaptation was made in 1961 at the request of Oxford University Press. This appeared in print in the same year with an English text under the title A Christmas Carol in a collection of Christmas songs as well as in a separate print. The musical material of the mixed-choir version largely follows the original. There is one essential difference in verse 5 beginning at bar 35 (Babe all holy) where the tenor solo appears with a delightful eight-bar countermelody not found in the original. Since this version only appeared in Kodály's lifetime with an English text this has been retained but we havealso provided the original Hungarian text upon which the equal voice version is based. Zoltán Kodály's complete choral works for mixed voices were published in a new extended edition in 2018 (Z. 6725 and Z. 6725A). This volume containing 51 compositions has been edited by the renowned conductor Péter Erdei one of the most devoted interpreters of Kodály's choral works. The new edition takes into consideration the manuscript sources for the compositions housed in the Kodály Archives in Budapest. The publication features new easily-legible music scores edited on uniform principles. For better readability the new edition is printed in a slightly larger format than previous editions.The present publication is an offprint from the renewed edition of Kodály's complete choral works for mixed voices. It has the same format as the volume and has been printed on excellent-quality pale-yellow paper.

At the time I was training as a Primary School teaching assistant and involved in playing the piano for the school's various Christmas musical events and concerts. It was the first time I had written both lyrics and music which both came to me at the same time. I subsequently taught the song to the children in the days which followed which they loved and it was the first time a 'real' composer had written anything for them. A week later it was premiered at the school carol concert with me playing the piano.I have always wanted to write a new and catchy Christmas carol drawing influences from all the familiar ones we know and love every Christmas. I also wanted the melody of the verses and chorus to be catchy and repetitive and would be easy and enjoyable for junior choirs to learn. I have always had a fondness for Latin-American rhythms hence the happy groove which I think add to the appeal!'Born in Cardiff in 1975 and trained in piano and flute at school Jay Mackie studied composition as an undergraduate at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama from 1997-2000 and completed an MMus gaining a distinction in Composition in 2004.At college Jayson received three scholarship prizes for composing where his Wind Quintet was a featured work at the ISCM's World Music Days

Warlock was a treasure of British song-writing he composed and arranged a good deal of Choral music during his lifetime though little was originally conceived for ladies’ choirs. These six songs were completed between 1918 and 1928 a period in which parlour piano was out of fashion due to the technologies that were being introduced yet there was demand for part-songs and this was an opening for Warlock who re-wrote earlier solos.
