The libretto, by Karl Wilhelm Ramler, recounts the Biblical events from the Resurrection to the Ascension in seven sections. Alternating between recitative, da capo arias and festive choruses, Telemann succeeds in producing a vivid and effective musical interpretation of the libretto.
