Donut Etudes vol. 3: Don’t Step in the Holes!1 Octave Scale Studies in 15+ keys for 4-part ensembles of like or mixed instruments If this is your first exposure to these scale studies, you are in for a treat! Donuts, if you make a mistake! The initial incarnation of these studies were written for trombone quartet and we would play them in the Tennessee Tech Trombone Choir with the challenge that whomever made the first mistake had to buy donuts for the rest of the ensemble. Since then I have brought that version to several clinics and warm up sessions. One time before I got to explain the title, a fellow trombone professor said, Oh, I get it! Don’t step in the holes!I only wish I had thought of that myself... Since we have one of the best donut shops in TN here in Cookeville, treating the studio to sugar coated goodies was always my intent. As with those initial exercises, you can vary these as much as you’d like.· Choose a tempo.· Choose a dynamic.· Choose an articulation/style.One way I like to play these is to have one person be the model, playing the entire scale over and over while everyone else plays the fragmented versions. That helps everyone to keep on track and stay in time. Double or triple up the parts for ensemble cohesion with a larger group.Practice one key, gradually speeding it up to improve fluidity, or choose a variation and take it through all keys, playing version A, B, C, or D then skipping to play the same set in a new key.If you want an additional challenge, play them in different octaves or change the key. Play the F Major set in f minor (all forms), different modes, etc. Players really have to be on their toes to remember if they are playing melodic minor in the ascending or descending form! For jazz players, try swinging them in dorian or mixolydian modes. The variations are endless! If you are using these with transposing instruments, 1) is F Major in Concert Pitch, 2) is Bb Major in Concert pitch, and so on. When you reach a scale that is enharmonic for another key (Db/C#, Gb/F#, or Cb/B), they are presented in both keys for each instrument so Trumpets can play in Eb while the Flutes are playing in C# with similar examples for all keys. All Donut Etudes with the same volume number are compatible so you can play them in mixed quartets or large ensembles with one or more instruments/people on part 1 and a different instrument on part 2, etc. Since the quartets are all identical, conductors/coaches can use any of the scores to tell which part should be playing at what time. Once you have played a scale with one set of parts, everyone can rotate to a different part and play the same scales again!Enjoy! John Meola Lindhorst #988463. Published by John Meola Lindhorst (A0.1405474). John Meola Lindhorst has done it again! Another original Christmas song, destined to become a holiday classic. With poignant lyrics and a hauntingly beautiful melody, this holiday ballad captures the deep emotions felt when you are away from those you love, feelings that are amplified during holidays. Sometimes, just the sound of a familiar voice can set your heart at ease and give you comfort.Lindhorst modelled his composition to reflect the classic standard songs of the 1040’s. The introduction passage tells the story and sets the mood while the lyrics and melody in the heart of the song bring all the feelings alive. Throughout the song a feeling of hope can be felt, as if to say, even the thousands of miles that separate us cannot diminish our love during this special day of the year. Whether you are accompanied by piano, guitar, ukulele, or a rhythm section, this song is sure to have your audience feeling the Aloha. Add this song to your Christmas repertoire and see for yourself. “On December twenty-fifth, here's my special holiday wish, Aloha, Merry Christmas to you.â€. Life Is Good

this is part of my " Compositions that care" and all money this piece takes in, will be donated to a charity for recovery from addition.
When i first herd this song, for me this was painting a picture of someone who was an addict, where they seemed the life of the party , and was having such a good time, however , using to feel a certain way -whether that be normal, happy, to fit in, loved,.. how ever, addiction cripples those persons effected may truly feel lonely and empty .
I debated with myself if this is what cause i wanted to support and hopefully shed some light on, addiction and everything and every person this effects. It was the next day , i had learned a friend and former co-worker had committed suicide after a long struggle with addition. I knew then that this decision was the right one.

Flute,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522191 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. Contemporary,Instructional. Score and part. 28 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3130519. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522191). My Flute and Me consists of fourteen short and delightful pieces written especially for absolute beginners up to students at elementary level. The pieces are intended as supplementary material to your usual tutor books. The music can be used with any number of players and the pieces remain in the lower register. Several early pieces use only the notes B, A and G and the key of G major predominates. Six of the pieces use only half notes (minims) and quarter notes (crotchets). The low C, a tricky note for many beginners, has been avoided almost completely. On the one occasion it appears, the note C an octave above is given as optional. Although the pieces are arranged in approximate order of difficulty you can play them in any order you want, depending on the musical needs of the student. Your students are sure to enjoy these pieces, which are both easy on the fingers and easy on the ear! The music is identical to that in the companion book My Recorder and Me. Several pieces have a few measures (bars) rest in the middle not only to give the player a break and add musical contrast but also to give the experience of counting empty bars during the music. When space allows, piano cues appear in the solo part. Some of the later pieces in the book have good performing potential and could be strung together in any order to create a small suite. Every piece has a short piano introduction so that the student can sense the tempo and musical style before playing. The keyboard accompaniments have been kept as simple as possible with the minimum number of notes. Dynamic markings (e.g. piano and mezzo-forte) are used from the start, but phrasing has been omitted from the solo part. This is because the teacher is usually in the best position to suggest phrasing within the physical capabilities of each student. Slurs have been employed sparingly and only when necessary. An MP3 file containing all the play-along piano accompaniments is available as a separate item here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/20679840 The book includes a well-known folk lullaby from Wales and a lively folk song from Thailand which is known by all Thai people because it’s taught in elementary schools throughout the country. The music has been converted into pdf files at 1,200 dpi which will produce professional looking printed copies of high quality. However, the output quality will also depend on your own printer settings and capabilities. The publication consists of a teacher's book (18 pages) and a student's book (8 pages) both contained in the same pdf file. The sample MP3 (click on the “Listen†button above) contains recordings of Starting Tune (No 1); Nice ‘n Easy (No 2); Waltzing Around (No 7) and Donkey Trot (No 12). The composer, Colin Kirkpatrick studied at London’s Royal College of Music. After graduation, he followed a career in music education and composed music as an active sideline. His publishers include Boosey & Hawkes, Novello, Paxton, Schott, Oxford University Press, Belwin Mills and Intrada (Netherlands). His music has been performed and broadcast all over Europe as well as in Japan, Thailand, Australia and the USA. He was a High School Music Director for about fifteen years and then became a Music Education Adviser for local government, with the added responsibility for training teachers and overseeing the instrumental service. He has written articles for magazines in both the UK and the USA and holds MA (Hons) and PhD degrees. High Hopes

Flute Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.762910 By Panic! At the Disco. By Brendon Urie, Ilsey Juber, Jacob Sinclair, Jenny Owen Youngs, Jonas Jeberg, Lauren Pritchard, Samuel Hollander, Tayla Parx, Taylor Parks, and William Lobban Bean. Arranged by Lori Cummings. Contemporary,Instructional,Pop,Rock,Singer/Songwriter. Individual part. 2 pages. Lori Cummings #4625507. Published by Lori Cummings (A0.762910). This arrangement of a popular, high-energy song by Panic at the Disco is written for any treble instrument. The lowest note is D beside Middle C, so would work for a wide range of instruments, including flute, violin, clarinet, saxophone (soprano or alto) or trumpet. It begins with a strong beat with the introduction, then includes the chorus which is repeated throughout the song, one verse, ending with the chorus and then the fun beats of the introduction. The notes cover a wide range, especially in the verse, so this song is more suitable for a skilled player (intermediate level). However the introduction and chorus part would be suitable for elementary level students. This arrangement would also be fun to use in a group setting with older students with handbells, Orff instruments or Boomwhackers. See also my Easy Piano version, which also would be suitable for handbells or Boomwhackers.
