It is quite modal at times and representative of a medieval tone.It is in Concert D minor and Ternary form, I have set it at early intermediate as the instrumental ranges are around 2 octaves and a dotted crotchet quaver is the most complicated rhythm. On the youtube link there is the full score for you to assess suitability. It is around 4 minutes in length and very suitable for a number of situations. Flute Duet, Clarinet Duet and Violin duet versions available. The Court Jester. For Flute Clarinet and Piano.

Published by Grant Horsley (A0.1384127). The Court Jester is intended as a descriptive piece. The Jester was a member of the household of a nobleman or a monarch employed to entertain guests during royal court. Jesters were also traveling performers who entertained common folk at fairs and town markets, and the discipline continues into the modern day, where jesters perform at historical-themed events. This piece is in ternary form. The outer sections are to represent the general clowning around and playing pranks as a mischievous Jester does. The middle section by contrast is more lyrical to demonstrate a softer side to the personality, however this quickly transcends back to the final section where jokes, pranks and laughs have their way! It should be performed very briskly and lightly to capture the overall feel of the piece. The range in total is two and a half octaves and it is 4.00 minutes in length- Set at Intermediate level. The whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability.Price is for the full score and all parts.A great addition to the repertoire. BEETHOVEN SIX MINUETS FOR WOODWIND QUINTET

Six minuets, each with a Trio in the same key, were composed for piano in 1796 and would have been played for dancing on informal gatherings or for dancing practice for more formal ones. They are arranged for flute, oboe, clarinet in Bb, bassoon and horn in F and today would find a niche at modern social gatherings such as weddings. Players of intermediate standard and above will enjoy them and everyone will recognise No, 2 which became very popular in Beethoven's life time and has remained so ever since.
