Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.939376 Composed by Adam Grim. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. 111 pages. Adam B. Grim #6196935. Published by Adam B. Grim (A0.939376). Satellite to Planet Nine is a saxophone quartet inspired by the cosmos surrounding planet Earth. The opening movement, Takeoff, is about the mystery and fear surrounding a possibility of another planet - or black hole - yet to be discovered and the beginning of the journey to find it. The second movement, Hymn for the Moon is dedicated to the closest body of natural rock in our solar system. This movement features the tenor saxophone using a mix of disjunct melodies, smooth jazz, and thick chords to produce a movement of both mysticism and peace as the rocket travels by it. Soca for Saturn is the following movement and is inspired by the Trinidadian popular music known as soca. It is the spark of joy and pure energy that holds the astronauts together as they hold their hopes high traveling to a land that might not even exist at all. The fourth movement depicts the first amount of struggle for the team, Solar Flares, which batter and beat at the crew as they try to find a way through. In the movement the mood is instantly changed with the realization that it is too calm, and soon, meet the purest form of heat and energy. Movement five continues the struggle, but this time with hasty success. Arrival continues where the fourth movement leaves off, but finally they see something in the distance – the planet they have been looking for. They prepare for landing, but with their equipment being nearly destroyed from the solar flares it is not smooth landing. In the final movement, New Gravity, the team ventures out into the new world, which is dark and barren. They feel a disturbing presence around them, and as they search further and further into the cold and dusty landscape, they realize what they are up against – survival. Using what they know, they build on their wreckage and create a new home - The Satellite to Planet Nine. 10 Easy Winter Duets for Trumpet and Tenor Saxophone

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.586354 By Tears For Fears. By Nicky Holl, Orzabal, and Rol. Arranged by Jeff Tincher. Contemporary. 41 pages. Jeff Tincher #6689053. Published by Jeff Tincher (A0.586354). This is my favorite Tears For Fears song. In the original key from their The Seeds of Love LP, this song has all the essentials of a great song...various tempo feels, descants, and solos. It is still included in their live shows. This arrangement is classified as intermediate because of these changes. Duration = 8:41. She was born Eunice Waymon in Tryon, North Carolina, my own hometown. I knew little about her while I was growing up. Later I heard she was an activist and the sentiment around town I observed was that there was far from a feeling of pride about who Nina Simone was. If that really was the case (and I have no proof of it) there was a dramatic change with the creation of The Nina Simone Project in 2006. I was still ignorant of this, having lived in Arizona for most of my adult life. But researching Simone led me to an immense feeling of pride for my hometown when I read about the support she had from the white community in the 1940’s. Without that encouragement and financial support, as well as artistic support from a local piano teacher, Muriel Mazzanovich, Mrs. Mazzy, as she was called and who Nina treasured and respected all of her life, Nina Simone would never have reached the world with her unique prodigious musical talent. She was a diva by all counts and her original compositions reflect a balance of words with music that is far superior to what her contemporaries were creating. A bronze sculpture of her by Zenos Frudakis now stands on Main Street in Tryon. How can you be an artist and not reflect the times? Simone asked in an interview. That to me is the definition of an artist. The feminist writer Germaine Greer declared Every generation has to discover Nina Simone. She is evidence that female genius is real. What would Nina Simone say today? I think she’d be mad as hell and screaming about revolution, probably still advocating for the use of violence. I’ve used some of Simone’s energetic and compelling motives in this composition. It is my own tribute to her genius and to how she gave to the world so much even though she was plagued with agonizing physical and mental ailments. That suffering seems to me an undercurrent in each video I have watched of her concerts. What I would give to have been in her presence for one of those concerts! She embodied music as an art form, revering her musical teachers, Bach, especially. That she never achieved her main goal of becoming the first female African-American classical pianist of world stature is perhaps not so sad when you think of how many more people she moved with her talent expressed in jazz and folk popular idioms. But she was prone to violence and many people, even those closest to her, were often fearful of her rage. She was misunderstood for so many years and it was only in the last two decades of her life that her moods were somewhat controlled through use of prescription drugs. The musical life that began for Eunice Waymon when she was seven years old playing the piano and organ for services at St. Luke’s C.M.E. Church (where her mother was the preacher) in Tryon, N.C. traversed many cities in many countries. She died at the age of 70 in 2003 in Carry-le-Rouet, France. 20,000

A Shifting Reef – This movement depicts the Nautilus as an unknown phenomenon that is a threat to navigation. Some mariners thought it was a sea monster and others thought it was a shifting reef. No one could conceive that it was a boat capable of traveling under water. The music is ever changing throughout this movement. It constantly shifts tonality, melodic ideas, and rhythmic placement of motives. Although some ideas repeat, they are transformed by combining them in different patterns with other previously stated ideas. II. A Walk at the Bottom of the Sea Through a Submarine Forest – Circular breathing is used at the beginning and the end of this movement to represent an undersea walk. The musical material appears in reverse at the end representing a return to the Nautilus. The lighter middle section represents walking over a more rocky terrain. The multiphonics symbolize the wonders of the submarine forest. III. The Giant Squids – The giant squids have surrounded the Nautilus and have caused the propeller to jam. In order to free themselves, Captain Nemo, his crew, Professor Aronnax, Conseil, and Ned Land do battle with the squids. This energetic scherzo reflects on the dangers of the battle. Several screams are heard as the squids entangle Ned Land and other crewmembers. The short multiphonics and syncopations represent the men chopping away and the arms of the squid. At the end, the Nautilus finally frees itself after the loss of one life. IV. Trapped Near the South Pole – After discovering the South Pole, the Nautilus is returning to open waters when it is caught between the polar icecap and iceberg that flips over. The tremolos reflect the doom of the Nautilus as only two days of air supply remain. The only means of escape is to chop through the ice below the Nautilus. The staccato notes represent the crew members hacking away at the ice. When that fails, Captain Nemo tries to melt the ice by expelling hot water from the Nautilus. This is represented by the saxophonist blowing air through the saxophone and wiggling the keys. A sense of doom returns that is followed by a final attempt of the Nautilus to crash through the remaining ice. A triumphant ending reflects the success of this attempt. V. The Maelstrom – As Professor Aronnax, Conseil, and Ned Land attempt their escape from the Nautilus, the ship enters the feared maelstrom, a vortex off the coast of Norway where no ship has escaped. The swirling waters are represented by the triplet passages and the escape by the duplet passages. An epilogue using the doom music of the previous movement suggests the end of the Nautilus but a brief return to a slower version of the Shifting Reef motive perhaps suggests otherwise
