Published by Nagamon Publications (A0.1472273). Richard Georg Strauss (11 June 1864 – 8 September 1949) was a German composer and conductor best known for his tone poems and operas. Considered a leading composer of the late Romantic and early modern eras, he has been described as a successor of Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt. Along with Gustav Mahler, he represents the late flowering of German Romanticism, in which pioneering subtleties of orchestration are combined with an advanced harmonic style.Der Rosenkavalier (The Knight of the Rose or The Rose-Bearer), Op. 59, is a comic opera in three acts by Richard Strauss to an original German libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal. It is loosely adapted from Louvet de Couvrai's novel Les amours du chevalier de Faublas and Molière's comedy Monsieur de Pourceaugnac. In 1945 Strauss allowed an orchestral Rosenkavalier Suite to be published, but apparently was not involved in creating it. It is likely that conductor Artur Rodziński arranged it, as he conducted the suite's first performance, in October 1944 by the New York Philharmonic. The suite begins with the opera's orchestral prelude, depicting the Marschallin's and Octavian's night of passion (vividly portrayed by whooping horns and saxophones). Next comes the appearance of Octavian as the Rosenkavalier, depicted in tender music; the sight of him looking so young makes the Marschallin realise that he will soon leave her for a younger woman. There follows the duet between Octavian and Sophie – in which their love for each other becomes ever more obvious, but this is abruptly interrupted by the discordant music associated with Ochs's clumsy arrival. Next the violins tentatively introduce the first waltz, followed by another given out by the solo violin, before the whole orchestra settles into waltz mode. A general pause and a violin solo leads into the nostalgic music where the Marschallin sadly realises she has lost Octavian. Then comes its ecstatic climax. The work closes with a singularly robust waltz, depicting Ochs at his most pompous, and a boisterous coda newly composed for the suite. The PDF contains the Full Score and a full set of parts. Note in particular that material Saint-Saëns assigned to the cor anglais has been reallocated. Most of the scherzo has been cut. The closing bars that remain serve as a brief, sweet introduction before the organ comes crashing in.Metronome marks have been adjusted, and are based on the 1957 recording by Paul Paray and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Recordings vary considerably with regard to tempo, and directors are encouraged to listen widely and experiment.Editorial amendments include modern percussion notation, shorthand piano parts for ease of study, ample cue notes, and well-padded page turns whenever possible.Musically, kindly indulge an added final crescendo in the timpani part, as lifted from Edo de Waart's riveting 1984 recording with the San Francisco Symphony. With acknowledgement and thanks to the teams behind IMSLP, MuseScore and GNU LilyPond. Born in Sydney in 1881, the seventh child of a wealthy family, Kelly was educated at Sydney Grammar School before being sent to England where he attended Eton College and Oxford University. At Eton his musical talents were nurtured under the tutelage of Dr Charles Harford Lloyd. He also developed a passion for rowing, eventually winning a gold medal for England in the 1908 London Olympics. After graduating from Oxford, Kelly began five years of musical study in piano and composition at the Hoch Conservatorium in Frankfurt, Germany. He made his professional debut as a pianist in Sydney in 1911. His London debut followed in 1912. His career was interrupted by the outbreak of the First World War.Elegy for String Orchestra In Memoriam Rupert Brooke was written during his war service in the final year of his life. It is an accomplished and moving work in the English pastoral style of the time, its lush modal string-writing sounding not unlike his famous English near-contemporary Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958). In the Australian context it stands out as a mature and beautiful musical statement by an Australian composer in relation to actual personal experiences of the tragedy of the First World War. As such it's unique in the Australian classical canon, and also part of that wider generational tragedy of what might have been if such an accomplished composer had lived on to create music into his old age. Arranged from the original string orchestra for symphonic wind ensemble and harp. Largo from the New World Symphony for String Orchestra

Transcribed for String Orchestra the second movement of the New World Symphony is introduced by a harmonic progression of chords in the wind instruments. Beckerman interprets these chords as a musical rendition of the narrative formula Once upon a time. Then a solo cor anglais (English horn) plays the famous main theme in D-flat major accompanied by muted strings. Dvořák was said to have changed the theme from clarinet to cor anglais as it reminded him of the voice of Harry Burleigh. The movement's middle section contains a passage in C♯ minor evoking a nostalgic and desolate mood which eventually leads into a funeral march above pizzicato steps in the basses. It is followed by a quasi-scherzo that incorporates this movement's theme as well as the first movement's main and closing themes. The Largo is concluded with the soft return of the main theme and introductory chords. For more of my original music, great arrangements and all the national anthems of the world, check out my on-line stores: https://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/keithterrett1 http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=keith+terrett Need an anthem fast? She wrote more than 300 pieces, including works for piano solo and four hands, organ pieces, chamber music, mélodies, choral music, a mass, and works for orchestra. Though she did not have the advantage of being born into a family in the upper classes, her talent at piano led her to formal education at the Paris Conservatory where she studied with Ernest Guiraud and César Franck.  Claude Debussy was among her classmates and her music, which was largely published during her lifetime, was praised by Camille Saint-Saëns. Adoro te devote, a text by Thomas Aquinas, is one of the medieval poetic compositions, being used as spoken prayers and also as chanted hymns, which were preserved in the Roman Missal published in 1570 following the Council of Trent (1545–1563); the opus number for this lovely piece by Bonis, expanded from the original SATB to full concert band, is 149, suggesting that it was composed around the turn of the 20th century. James Strauss #5873421. Published by James Strauss (A0.1035228). AntonÃn Emil Titl Was born October 2, 1809 in Pernstein, and died in January 21, 1882 in Vienna was an Austrian composer. Titl had been the military bandmaster in Prague since 1835. In 1840 he was hired as the successor of Heinrich Proch to the theater in Josefstadt, where he stayed until 1846. From 1850 until his retirement in 1870 he worked at the Burgtheater as Kapellmeister. As a composer, Titl created numerous songs and stage music for both of the above theaters. His greatest success was the Singspiel Der Zauberschleier by Franz Xaver Told, which contained the song A Wirtsg'schäft, which was extremely popular at the time, is really not bad.In 1898 the Titlgasse in Vienna-Hietzing was named after him. Titl's Serenade was composed for flute and horn with orchestra or piano accompaniment. With a lilting Bel Canto style in 12/8, its lyric melody features passages of filigree work that will excite and challenge the musician's technical as well as expressive capabilities. The piece is ideal for contest or recital for the intermediate player. This edition for flute, horn and orchestra is based in 2 sources , a set or parts published in 1896 by the French publisher E. GALLET plate n. G.5688 and a manuscript of the parts from Austrian National Library and has been carefully arranged and edited by James Strauss. All the discrepancies between the sources were corrected and for the very first time in a Full Score format. Coleção: Piano Musical II

UpBeat Editions #941763. Published by UpBeat Editions (A0.1357134). The Variations on a theme by Haydn, now also called the St. Anthony Variations is a work in the form of a theme and variations, composed by Johannes Brahms in the summer of 1873 at Tutzing in Bavaria. It consists of a theme in B-flat major based on a “Chorale St. Antoniâ€, eight variations and a finale. It is often said to be the first independent set of variations for orchestra in the history of music. Brahms composed the work on a theme entitled “Chorale St. Antoni†found in a wind ensemble composition. At the time Brahms discovered it, the wind ensemble piece carried an attribution to the composer Joseph Haydn. Brahms titled his own composition accordingly, crediting Haydn for the theme, but publishers in the early nineteenth century often attached the names of famous composers to works by unknown or lesser known composers in order to move inventory. Subsequent research has concluded that the wind piece Brahms used as a source does not fit Haydn’s style. Today the wind ensemble piece remains without clear attribution.A transcription faithful to the original for Concert band.Full set of Score and parts.Further info:www.upbeateditions.comupbeat.editions@gmail.comhttps://www.facebook.com/UpBeatEditions.
