(also known as Anna Lyman). Christmas,Concert,Instructional,Renaissance,Sacred. Score and parts. 15 pages. Anne C. Lyman #2863261. Published by Anne C. Lyman (A0.921307). 2016 Holiday Contest Entry! This version of Coventry Carol is a lovely 16th century English carol in D minor, with introduction and ending arranged with an authentic early flavor. The arrangement by Anne C. Lyman, B.Mus. is designed to be performed in 3 voices, or (if the chords are also used), then 4 voices on the ukulele. The tuning is in C, or (GCEA), plus Baritone Ukulele. The arrangement works equally well for high or low G strings. Good for recitals! This arrangement is especially playable, but listeners will still be impressed. I have included both a Tab/Notation version of the conductor’s score, (5 pages), with parts for melody, harmony and baritone ukulele. A melody, notation only version is also included for your convenience. Chords have been added to the first verse, to make it more robust. They should be played on beat one only, rather than on every beat. Sections with no chords are like that deliberately in order to change the texture Where there are four notes in a chord, strum it once. ISBN 9781513477510. 8.75X11.75 inches.John Dowland (1563 – 1626), a contemporary of both William Shakespeare and Queen Elizabeth I, was recognized as one of the greatest musicians of his time, writing songs, ensemble music and solos for the lute.Early music has long been part of the classic guitar repertoire and more recently, it has been adopted with enthusiasm by ukulele players. This book presents sixteen of Dowland's most beautiful lute songs that can be performed by ukulele players, with or without a vocalist. Two versions of each song – one easier and another more advanced—are offered in both standard notation and tablature for soprano, concert, and tenor ukuleles in re-entrant (gCEA) tuning. Various vocal ensemble renditions of the songs, as well as the author’s video performances of each solo arrangement are available online. For vocalists and their audiences, and for all musicians and songwriters to fully connect with the emotion of the songs, Dowland’s sublime lyrics are also included.Song List :
Awake, Sweet Love, Thou Art Return’d
Can She Excuse My Wrongs?
Come Again!
Come Away, Come Sweet Love
Come Heavy Sleep
Fine Knacks for Ladies
Flow My Tears
Flow Not So Fast, Ye Fountains
Go Crystal Tears
His Golden Locks
I Saw My Lady Weep
If My Complaints Could Passions Move
Now, O Now, I Needs Must Part
Shall I Sue?
Sweet, Stay Awhile

Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music (M0.31089MEB). ISBN 9781513477619. 8.75X11.75 inches. This book presents 37 pieces of Renaissance guitar music transcribed for solo fingerstyle ukulele together with the author’s recordings of every transcription. Moreover, a generous introduction provides a brief history of the Renaissance guitar, tips on period ornamentation and musicianship, recommended recordings, and invaluable resources for further research of your own.Throughout Europe, the Renaissance guitar was a popular instrument in the middle of the sixteenth century. Its composers left us a treasure-trove of music, from rustic dances to chansons and elaborate fantasias. Five-hundred years later, this music fits beautifully on the Renaissance guitar’s musical descendant, the ukulele. The Renaissance guitar and the ukulele share an almost identical tuning. As the transcriptions in this book are written in standard notation and tablature, any type of ukulele, from soprano to baritone—as well as the top four strings of the guitar— can be used to play them. Most of the pieces are in standard gCEA or GCEA tuning; the seven pieces in the second section of the book, however, require low-G tuning to render the counterpoint as written. It’s also possible for guitar and baritone uke players to read the tablature provided. The music will sound a perfect 4th lower than the notation, but as there was no standard pitch in the time of the Renaissance guitar, modern players should feel no obligation to play this music at fixed pitch. If you wish to read from the tablature and sound in the same key as the notation for ensemble purposes, guitar and baritone uke players merely need to place a capo at the fifth fret. With a certain sense of historical irony, the music of the Renaissance guitar is here reborn on modern fretted instruments.Song List :

Famous Solos and Duets for the Ukulele presents ukulele music as you have never seen or heard it before. An anthology of pieces selected from the earliest known methods and collections published for the ukulele between 1909 and 1920, Famous Solos and Duets is newly engraved in both standard notation and tablature and contains extensive fingering and performance instructions. Edited, arranged, and performed by ukulele virtuoso and historian John King, this collection makes the original, classic repertoire of this charming little instrument available to the public for the first time in nearly a century. The Preface, informative and thoroughly researched, places the ukulele and its music in historical context, from its early days in Hawai'i, to its widespread popularity on the Mainland. Showcasing pieces which are both challenging and beautiful, Early Solos and Duets features the music of Queen Lili'uokalani, King Kalakaua, Ernest Ka'ai, Henry Kailimai, George Awai, George Kia Nahaolelua, N. B. Bailey and Vadah Olcott Bickford. Also included in Early Solos and Duets are invaluable instructions for the different styles of strumming as played by the "Father of the ukulele," Ernest Ka'ai. The audio contains all 22 pieces expertly performed by Mr. King. Includes access to online audio. The Jewish Ukulele - 10 Traditional Pieces

Published by Carl Thomas Although the Ukulele is not commonly used in traditional Jewish
music, it lends itself perfectly to the pieces you will find in my
ebook, ?The Jewish Ukulele?. I have arranged a number of Jewish
standards, some Klezmer and also an original piece, all for solo
Ukulele. If you have never tried music of this style, this book is the
ideal starting point. The book assumes you already have a grasp
of some basic chord shapes and encourages you to play chords
and melody together, all the way up the neck.
