The earliest manuscript dates from the nineteenth century and the piece only emerged from obscurity through radio play in the 1970s. Now one of the best-loved and ubiquitous classical pieces, the Canon’s repeating chord sequence has inspired countless pop tunes from the Streets of London, to I Should be so Lucky and Don’t Look Back in Anger. This version is arranged and transposed to a suitable key as a Trio for three Flutes. An optional part 4 is included which can be played on any bass instrument to add texture and harmonic context. The original note values have been doubled to make the rhythms easier to read. The linked youtube performance is the Clarinet version of this arrangement. Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, and being a Canon, all but the bass part play the melody. Duet versions of this piece can also be found by browsing from the link below. The overall performance time is around four and a half minutes. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with stamina, concentration and rhythmic consistency. A short but, adventurous piece that provides the feeling of communion with others and a choral atmosphere of companionship and fellowship. This piece was written for 3 to symbolize the Holy Trinity, however, you can increase the numbers on each part to spark and bring forth a fun challenge. I hope you enjoy this beautiful and technically interesting piece that brings the baroque and old church to the modern world a treat for Church activities, recitals, and most of all worship. Canon (Bb) - Johann Pachelbel - Flute Trio, Keyboard - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download.Johann Pachelbel's celebrated Canon is perhaps the most famous canon ever written. A canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. Pachelbel's Canon was originally scored for three violins arranged in canon, accompanied by a basso continuo playing an ostinato pattern,, repeating the same harmonic progression throughout the entire composition.Regis Bookshar has now arranged this composition for a Flute Trio which play the melody in canon and a Keyboard instrument, either a Piano or Organ, which plays the ostinato pattern. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students and is perfect for concerts, recitals and church services, especially for weddings, but could be performed for any occasion. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (22 pages).Pachelbel's Canon was originally written in the key of D Major but this version has been transposed to the key of Bb Major, making it a little easier for some younger performers. The second of Bach’s four orchestral suites is actually the one he composed last, in Leipzig around 1739, and is probably the last orchestral music of any kind that he wrote. It is basically a solo flute concerto in the form of a dance suite, and an extraordinarily difficult flute concerto at that. A badinerie is a sort of character piece in 18th-century suites, with no particular dance rhythm or meter. This one has a full measure of the light and lively bantering the title implies, which has made it also popular with jazz arrangers. The Duration is approx. 1.32 minutes and the level is Advanced Intermediate.
