Press Music for the Harp Everyone enjoys Celtic Folk Songs and Folk Hymns but not all realize that often they can be one and the same. A hymn text has often found its home in a folk song and a secular text sometimes finds a home in a hymn tune. This collection has a little of both. All but one of the tunes in this collection are of Celtic origin. The exception, “Amazing Grace,” is a folk hymn of unknown origin that has all the markings of a Celtic Tune, including a pentatonic harmonic foundation.
For the harpists who also like to understand the history of a tune or even sing along, a variety of texts along with information about the tune and the lyrics can be found in the back of this book in the “Notes on the Tunes.”
Titles: Ad Hyd y nos, Annie Laurie, Auld Lang Syne, Bunessan, Brother James' Air, Down By the Salley Gardens, Greensleeves, Iona Boat Song, Rorate (Rorate Coeli Desuper), Londonderry Air, New Britain, O Waly Waly, Slane, Scots W' Hae, The Ash Grove, Royal Oak, The Twenty-Ninth of May, St. Denio, Skye Boat Song, The Bard of Armagh, The Streets of Laredo, The Caledonian Hunt's Delight, St. Columba, The Road and the Miles to Dundee, The Rowan Tree, Ye Banks and Braes O' Bonnie Doon
One of the nicest things about this book is that each song has a short but lovely introduction! Celtic Echoes

Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797336). Playing in a harp ensemble is bliss! Continuing in the tradition of Nancy Hurrell’s other ensemble books, these arrangements for mixed level groups are fun for everyone. The tunes are from Scotland and Ireland, and include a duet, and three-part and four-part ensembles. There are also seven great solos. In addition to the usual toe-tapping Scottish reels, the arrangements use melodic patterns to suggest ripples in the sea (Aran Boat Song), fluttering wings (The Butterfly), and jingling coins (Little Donald of the Sweets). There’s a wonderful range of styles from ancient harmonies to traditional Carolan to jazzy reels. These arrangements have multi-level parts so everyone can join in and play together. Solos are Loch Gamhna, Cliffs of Moher,The Birken Tree, Captain Campbell, Eilean Beag Donn a’Chuain, Little Brown Island in the Ocean (D. Morrison), The High Reel, George Brabazon, Second Air (Turlough O’Carolan). Duet Arrangements are Latha a’ Siubhal Slèibhe Dhomh, One Day as I was Travelling the Mountains.Three Part Ensembles are Domhnall Beag an t-Siucair, Little Donald of the Sweets, Cha Bhi Mi ’Gad Thà ladh, I Will Not Rock You to Sleep, The Butterfly, Miss Murphy (Turlough O’Carolan), The Aran Boat Song. Small Ensemble Dulcimer,Flute,Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.963940 Arranged by Reba Lunsford. Celtic,Folk. Score and parts. 35 pages. Reba Lunsford #4844841. Published by Reba Lunsford (A0.963940). Three delightful ensemble arrangements, consisting of one familiar Celtic tune plus two excellent Celtic medleys. Hammered Dulcimer parts are suitable for any C instrument. Solo lap harp versions of each piece are also included. The medley The Fiddler Dance the Light/Mor A Cheannaich swept the ensemble division of the Gulf Coast Harpers Celtic Contest a few years back. Hammered dulcimer/C Instrument carries the melody, trading off lead with harp while the flute plays countermelody. The lap harp version has left-hand melody with right hand descant. Song of the Water Kelpie has a dreamy setting with harmonies in the harp parts gradually expanding fuller and then tapering back, like ocean waves coming in and receding. It has right-hand harmonics in the opening measures. Hammered dulcimer plays in unison with the harp. Flute begins with a slow trill-like ornament, then plays almost canon style with the other two instruments through the middle section. The title selection, Lament for Limerick/Lochaber No More/Irish Lamentation Waltz is played mostly in unison among all three instruments. The full harp part can also be played solo. The left-hand of the harp part is mostly arpeggiated runs with some tenth dotted half note chords in between. An explanation of strathspey playing style and lyrics to Lochaber No More are also included.Table of Contents:Fiddler Dance the Light/Mor A Cheannaich, Song of the Water Kelpie, Lament for Limerick/Lochaber No More/Irish Lamentation Waltz
