The Hallelujah (Aleluia) is part of the oratorio Messiah, which is the most famous work by the German composer Georg Friedrich Händel. Oratorio is a genre of musical composition basically sung, being widely used, besides the orchestra, vocal solos and choir. It generally narrates biblical themes. The Messiah (HWV 56, 1741) is an oratorio about the life of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. It has 51 movements divided into three parts: the Prophecies about Jesus' birth, the Passion, and the Resurrection. The Hallelujah is the 42nd movement, at the end of the second part, where all the joy over the Messiah's victory over death and sin is demonstrated. Crystal is a three-movement vibraphone and piano duet (Adagio, Moderato, and Presto) centered around the suspended chord, which does not clearly define a major or a minor tonal world. Similar to Marginalia, Crystal relies on tonally ambiguous harmonies such as the second and seventh. It begins and ends with a dissonant, bell-like vibraphone idea, referencing chord clusters often used in Balinese Gamelan.Adagio employs a rhythmic canon between the vibraphone and the left and right hand piano parts. Parallel sevenths and cross-rhythms are the building blocks of this movement.Moderato uses a repeating rhythmic ostinato throughout the movement, which is first introduced by the vibraphone and then taken on by the piano.Presto opens with a folk-like melody in the vibraphone and then leads into a more lyrical, quartal melody. It uses the parallel sevenths and cross-rhythms found in the first movement. The coda basically repeats the piece’s introduction with slightly less dissonant vibraphone chords. Throughout the entire piece, it is never firmly established whether the piece is in major or minor. For more information, visit www.amygordonmusic.com. How To Comp

A great sounding arrangement of A Night in Tunisia arranged for Vibraphone/Marimba & Piano, Vibe players will love this!A jazz solo is written out for you, if you wish you can improvise on the given chord symbols!A Night in Tunisia is a musical composition written by Dizzy Gillespie around 1941–42, while Gillespie was playing with the Benny Carter band. It has become a jazz standard. It is also known as Interlude. Gillespie called the tune Interlude and said some genius decided to call it 'Night in Tunisia'. He said the tune was composed at the piano at Kelly's Stables in New York. He gave Frank Paparelli co-writer credit in compensation for some unrelated transcription work, but Paparelli had nothing to do with the song. A Night in Tunisia was one of the signature pieces of Gillespie's bebop big band, and he also played it with his small groups. In January 2004, The Recording Academy added the 1946 Victor recording by Gillespie to the Grammy Hall of Fame.On the album A Night at Birdland Vol. 1, Art Blakey introduced his 1954 cover version with this statement: At this time we'd like to play a tune [that] was written by the famous Dizzy Gillespie. I feel rather close to this tune because I was right there when he composed it in Texas on the bottom of a garbage can. The audience laughs, but Blakey responds, Seriously. The liner notes say, The Texas department of sanitation can take a low bow.The complex ostinato bass line in the A section is notable for avoiding the standard walking bass pattern of straight quarter notes, and the use of oscillating half-step-up/half-step-down chord changes (using the Sub V, a tritone substitute chord for the dominant chord) gives the song a unique, mysterious feeling. The B section is notable for having an unresolved minor II-V, since the chord progression of the B section is taken from the B section of the standard Alone Together, causing the V chord to lead back into the Sub V of the A section.Like many of Gillespie's tunes, it features a short written introduction and a brief interlude that occurs between solo sections - in this case, a twelve-bar sequence leading into a four-bar break for the next soloist. Wilhelm Killmayer puts a single note at the heart of this composition. But whereas Robert Schumann took it as the starting point of his romanticism, Killmayer doesn’t allow himself the freedom to develop poetic melodies. Just as Schumann deliberately decided to live within the constraints of a mental asylum in Endenich, Killmayer favours the constraints of a very limited tonal space. Recurring seconds in the piano part illustrate the confines in the life of the ill composer. Even the addition of a vibraphone, bongo and conga cannot overcome these boundaries in the end. The only option left is to look inwards for an escape. And when refined tone colours are revealed in a dialogue between piano and glockenspiel, Schumann in Endenich turns into a journey into the consciousness of an enigmatic fellow human being.Schlagzeug I: Glockenspiel, Rührtrommel, hohe Pedalpauke; Schlagzeug II: Glockenspiel, Xylophon, Bongo (mittel), Holzfaß (oder großes Holzbrett mit Resonanz); Schlagzeug III: Vibraphon, Marimbaphon, 2 Congas (mittel-tief), Rührtrommel; Schlagzeug IV: Gong in c, Steinspiel (a''), Bongo (tief), Rührtrommel, Pauke in g; Schlagzeug V: großes Tamtam, Gegenschlaghölzer (yoshigi), Pauke in E und A (cis), Conga (mittel).
