Publications Thisnew collection of Thanksgiving and Harvest hymns contains all your favorites,or at least, most of them. It’s probably all you’ll ever need for thanksgivingand harvest festivals and the arrangements can be used for virtually anycombination of stringed instruments. This is an essential title for any stringlibrary or for any string ensembles that are called upon to provide music forschools, Thanksgiving events or churches.
Thearrangements can be used with string quartet, string quintet or string ensembleor performed as solo pieces. There’s also an optional but useful simplifiedkeyboard part intended for less experienced keyboard players. The piano parttoo means that you can use the arrangements as solos, duets or trios. Thesearrangements are intended either as stand-alone pieces that could be used asinterludes in a service, or they could be used to accompany solo, choral orcongregational singing. To make the music accessible to less experienced stringplayers, the range of the notes has been kept fairly low so that many of thearrangements can be played in first position. However, to produce a brighterand richer sound, a few of the more experienced violinists could play an octavehigher. You could also use the arrangements as flute or oboe solo pieces, with thewind instrument playing the 1st violin part. Each hymn has a four-staff scoreand parts are provided for Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello and optional Doublebass. The scores and all the parts are contained in a single PDF file. Becausestring-friendly keys are used, these arrangements are NOT compatible with thosein the wind collection of the same name.
Thefollowing 25 hymns are included: AllCreatures of our God and King (Lasst uns Erfreuen); As the Sun doth Daily Rise(Innocents); All Things Bright and Beautiful (Bright and Beautiful); Bringingin the Sheaves (Sowing in the Morning); Come Ye Thankful People Come (StGeorge’s Windsor); Fair Waved the Golden Corn (Holyrood); Fill your Hearts withJoy and Gladness (Ode to Joy); For the Beauty of the Earth (Dix); For theFruits of His Creation (Ar Hyd y Nos); Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken(Austrian Hymn); Immortal, Invisible (St Denio); Let all Things now Living (AshGrove); Let us with a Gladsome Mind (Monkland); Now Thank we all Our God (Nundanket); Praise and Thanksgiving (Bunessan); Praise God for the Harvest(Stowey); Praise my Soul the King of Heaven (Lauda anima); Praise to the Lordthe Almighty (Lob den herren); Rejoice the Lord is King (Darwall’s 148th);Sing to the Lord of Harvest (Wie lieblich ist der maien); This is my Father’s World(Terra Beata); To thee, O Lord, our Hearts we Raise (Golden Sheaves); We GatherTogether (Kremser); We Plough the Fields and Scatter (Wir pflügen) and PraiseGod from whom all Blessings Flow (Old Hundredth) Music for Four Volume 2, Score (for String Quartet or Mixed Quartet) 70299 - Score Only

Digital The Belgian violinist, Eugene Ysaye (1858-1931), with his impressive blend of virtuosity and poetry, was a great admirer of the young Debussy's music who led the Paris premiere of his only string quartet in December 1893. In September 1892, Debussy was planning an American tour with the financial support of Prince Andre Poniatowski that was to include his 'nearly completed three Scenes au crepuscule', inspired by the Symbolist poetry of his friend Henri de Regnier. He made 'extensive revisions' to them in 1893, even if all that seems to have survived is a series of sketches in Bibliotheque Nationale de France, MS 20632(2), most of which appear to be for violin and orchestra in E or B major. Another related, and more virtuosic, theme emerged in a Parisian sale in June 2006, which opens the main part of the present Nocturne (after a slow introduction).
We also learn from Ernest Chausson in April 1893 that Debussy was composing a work for Ysaye's first American tour in 1894-95, which at one stage was described as a 'concerto'. Then, as Debussy was putting the finishing touches to L'Apres-midi d'un faune in 1894, he told Ysaye he was now working on 'three Nocturnes for solo violin and orchestra which are destined for you', and which undoubtedly derived from his earlier 'Twilight scenes'. The first was to be 'for strings only'. the second for three flutes, four horns, three trumpets and two harps. the third combines all these instruments'. He also informed Ysaye, perhaps with Whistler's Nocturnes in mind, that they were to be like 'a study in grey in painting'. Debussy only abandoned this project in November 1896 after Ysaye told him he would not be able to premiere the Nocturnes in Brussels 'for financial reasons'.
My completion comes closest to the third Nocturne Debussy planned and to being a rondo with related episodes. The dynamic idea that emerged in 2006, which was scored by Debussy, leads naturally into the 'twilight' theme in B major beginning on solo cello and doublebasses, with the high, haunting three-note idea first heard at the outset floating above on solo violin, exactly as Debussy conceived it. All five of Debussy's themes are harmonized and they vary in length between three and thirteen bars: none of them relate to the orchestral Nocturnes of 1897-99. Rather than develop any of these themes, they are presented in changing harmonic backgrounds in the contemporary manner of L'Apres-midi d'un faune, and the whole work centres on an expansive scalar which joins the various aspects of Debussy's 'twilight' themes together in a new perspective. Composed by Various. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Christian, General Worship, Easter. Piano Reduction, Score, Set of Parts. 81 pages. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (S0.304855). - Piano Reduction,Score,Set of Parts - Christian,General Worship,Easter - Colin Kirkpatrick Publications Thisis an essential collection of twenty-two favorite Easter hymns arranged forstring quartet, string quintet or string orchestra. Designed for school, college or church this useful collection should be in your library! The double bass is optional, because itdoubles the cello part throughout. There?s a piano part too, so you can also use thearrangements as string solos, duets or trios. They are intended either as stand-alonepieces that could be used as interludes in an Easter service, or they could beused to accompany solo, choral or congregational singing. The music has beenset in string-friendly keys and leans towards G major, D major and C major. Thepiano part has been written for with the early intermediate pianist in mind, though some hymns are actually quite easy. In a string orchestra, you canbrighten the sound by instructing a few of the more advanced violin players to playan octave higher in both 1st and 2nd violin parts. Youcan also use the arrangements as flute or oboe solo pieces, the wind instrumentplaying the 1st violin part.
Skillfully arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick, the 22 hymns include: Amazing Grace; And Can it Be? (Sagina); At the Lamb?s High Feast We Sing(Salzburg); Christ the Lord is Risen Again! (Würtemburg); Crown Him with ManyCrowns (Diademata); Jesus Christ is Risen Today (Easter Hymn); Jesus Lives!(St. Albinus); Love?s Redeeming Work is Done (Savannah); Low in the Grave HeLay (Lowry); There is a Green Hill Far Away (Horsley); Near the Cross (Doane); OSacred Head Now Wounded (Passion Chorale); The Day of Resurrection (Ellacombe); The Strife is O'er, the Battle Won (Victory); Rock of Ages (Toplady); Thine bethe Glory (Maccabæus); This Joyful Eastertide (Easter-tide); To God be theGlory! (Doane); When I Survey the Wondrous Cross (Hamburg); When I Survey theWondrous Cross (Rockingham); Were You There When They Crucified my Lord? andYe Choirs of New Jerusalem (St. Fulbert). String Quartet String Quartet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.990228 Composed by Pierre Phalèse. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Renaissance. Score and parts. 17 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #595907. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.990228). Following from the success of the Hits of the Renaissance for Strings, featuring well-known dances from Terpsichore by Michael Praetorius, this arrangement is from another classic book of dances from the same period. Pierre Phalèse (1510-1575) was a Flemish publisher and his First Book of Dances, an extensive collection of dances in four parts, was published in Leuven in 1571. They are attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts, public recitals or end-of-semester events. This arrangement is for virtually any string ensemble and the single PDF file includes a full score and parts for violin 1, violin 2, viola (violin 3), cello and bass (combined), keyboard and simple percussion. Two additional melody parts are provided in the treble and bass clefs and the chords (for optional guitar) are shown in both keyboard and cello-bass parts. In the spirit of the original publication of 1571, you can add to the melody line any other C-pitch instruments that happen to be available. Even the additional of a couple of recorders will enhance the sound. Alternatively, you can do opposite and create a pleasing contrast by omitting instruments for certain sections. The audio demo will give you an idea how this might be achieved. While you can add flute, recorder, oboe, glockenspiel or whatever you want, additional instruments are not essential but can add contrasting tone color. The keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible, the keyboard player should feel free to improvise around the part and the chords shown. A piano is distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The optional percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a tambour or hand-held drum, antique (finger) cymbals, wood-blocks and tambourine. Two or three players can be used and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that.
