O Come, All Ye Faithful (originally spelled in Latin as Adeste Fideles) is a famous Christmas song that has been attributed to various authors. This beautiful hymn was first published by John Francis Wade in his collection Cantus Diversi (1751), with four Latin verses, and music set in the traditional square notation used for medieval liturgical music. Besides John Reading and John Francis Wade, the tune has been attributed to several musicians, from Handel to the German composer Gluck. The Portuguese composer Marcos Portugal or King John IV of Portugal have also been credited. Thomas Arne, whom Wade knew, is another possible composer. This arrangement features an easy-to-play bassoon version, with piano accompaniment and chords, for optional guitar accompaniment. Easy level. Key: G Major. The Word

The Word is a song by English rock band The Beatles, written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and recorded with Lennon on lead vocals. It was first released on their 1965 album Rubber Soul.Musically, the song is founded on a driving funk beat, with few chord changes and a simple melody in the key of D major.(The refrain is a 12 bar blues in D. The main chord is D7(♯9), also used in Drive My Car and Taxman.)John Lennon had felt during his youth that love had been the answer, and had written The Word as his first expression of the concept. He had felt that love was an underlying theme of the universe, and that love was fundamental in many things, which had inspired the lyric In the good and bad books that I have read. The song is credited to Lennon-McCartney, however Lennon had stated that it was mainly mine.It had marked the first time the Beatles had written a song about love as a concept, which would become important in the band's later work.Paul McCartney said of this song, John and I would like to do songs with just one note like 'Long Tall Sally'. We get near it in 'The Word'Arranged here for wind quartet, the flute takes verse 1 and is joined in harmony by the clarinet for verse 2.Verse 3 is taken by the oboe, and all 3 top instruments take the melody, and chordal harmony for verse 4  till the end,The bassoon takes the bass guitar riff throughout. The mp3 starts just before the 4th verse. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.It was written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney. Inspiration for the song came to Lennon from a television commercial for Kellogg's Corn Flakes.Another reference to contemporary television was the lyric It's time for tea and Meet the Wife, referring to the BBC sitcom. Lennon himself was critical of the track. It's a throwaway, a piece of garbage, I always thought, he once said. I always had the TV on very low in the background when I was writing, and it came over, and then I wrote the songThe song is played at 117 beats per minute, has an unusual rhythmic feel, and uses different time signatures. Beats are played in groups of 2, 3 and 4, and time signature changes frequently. Parts with 5/4 and 4/4 bars alternate, with 3/4 transitions. Most of the song uses simple time, where the beats are divided into two, but the middle eight sections use compound time, where the beats are divided into triplets.YouTube vid is my brass quartet arrangement. The American version of the album was released two weeks earlier, on 26 June 1964 by United Artists Records, with a different track listing that included selections from George Martin's film score. In contrast to the Beatles' first two albums, all 13 tracks on A Hard Day's Night were written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, showcasing the development of their songwriting partnership. The album includes the song A Hard Day's Night, with its distinctive opening chord, and Can't Buy Me Love, both transatlantic number-one singles for the band. Several of the songs feature George Harrison playing a Rickenbacker 12-string electric guitar, a sound that was influential on the Byrds and other groups in the folk rock movement. The mp3 excerpt is the verse leading into the instrumental break. Arranged wind quartetNow and Then is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, released on 2 November 2023. Dubbed the last Beatles song, it appeared on a double A-side single, paired with a new stereo remix of the band's first single, Love Me Do (1962), with the two serving as bookends to the band's history. Now and Then is a psychedelic soft rock balladthat John Lennon wrote and recorded around 1977 as a solo home demo but left unfinished. After Lennon's death in 1980, the song was considered as a potential third Beatles reunion single for their 1995–1996 retrospective project The Beatles Anthology, following Free as a Bird and Real Love, both based on two other Lennon demos of the same names.Instead, it was shelved for nearly three decades, until it was completed by his surviving bandmates Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, using overdubs and guitar tracks by George Harrison (who died in 2001) from the abandoned 1995 sessions.Arranged here for wind quartet, the oboe takes most of the melodyThe video is my wind quintet arrangement. Both songs were recorded during the sessions for the band's Rubber Soul album. The single topped charts in Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands and Norway. In the United States, Day Tripper peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and We Can Work It Out held the top position.Day Tripper is a rock song based around an electric guitar riff and drawing on the influence of American soul music. The Beatles included it in their concert set-list until their retirement from live performances in late August 1966. The single was the first example of a double A-side in Britain Its success popularised the format and, in giving equal treatment to two songs, allowed recording artists to show their versatility. The band's use of promotional films to market the single anticipated the modern music video. In the UK, Day Tripper / We Can Work It Out was the seventh highest selling single of the 1960s. As of December 2018, it was the 54th best-selling single of all time in the UK – one of six Beatles singles included in the top sales rankings published by the Official Charts Company.Video is my brass quartet arrangementCheck out my other Beatles Quartets. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Pop,Wedding. 8 pages. RayThompsonMusic #837443. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1242086). Arranged standard wind quartet: fl, ob, clt & bsn.Taken from the album The Beatles known as the White Album.  It was written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney, and performed as a solo piece by McCartney with solo acoustic guitar.McCartney explained on Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road, aired in 2005, that the guitar accompaniment for Blackbird was inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's Bourrée in E minor, a well-known lute piece, often played on the classical guitar. As teenagers, he and George Harrison tried to learn Bourrée as a show off piece. The Bourrée is distinguished by melody and bass notes played simultaneously on the upper and lower strings.McCartney adapted a segment of the Bourrée (reharmonised into the original's relative major key of G) as the opening of Blackbird, and carried the musical idea throughout the song.My arrangement gives the vocal solo to the oboe.Check out my other wind quartet arranagments: All you need is love, Hey Jude, In my Life etc.
