Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1173888 Composed by Maria Thompson Corley. 20th Century,Classical. Score. 7 pages. Maria Thompson Corley #774042. Published by Maria Thompson Corley (A0.1173888). These four brief, charming pieces were transcribed for nonet and featured in Songs and Stories 115, a PBS Kids Special. The first,The Early Morning March, depicts trudging through the snow to school (I am not a morning person, and grew up in Western Canada. Nuff said). The second, Recess, is about children teasing and chasing each other during recess, then running back into the school at the sound of the bell. The third piece, Teacher Tells a Mythical Tale, has a once upon a time feel, with an aura of mystery. Finally, Skipping Home is about...skipping home. The skipping turns into running when the front door is in sight.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1097949 By Heather Pierson. By Heather Pierson. Contemporary,New Age. Score. 12 pages. Sacred Vessel Recordings (ASCAP) #700868. Published by Sacred Vessel Recordings (ASCAP) (A0.1097949). Late October is a 12 page advanced intermediate level piece in the key of E flat major (though it spends most of its time in A flat lydian). It is from my album 'The Open Road', a collection of 14 of my solo piano compositions. There is nothing quite like fall in New England, and there is also a very poignant beauty to be found in that time after the tourists have all gone home, after the brilliant colors have faded, before the leaves have all fallen to the ground. It is that stark beauty that inspired this piece. Other pieces available in this collection are: Bittersweet, Doc Bradley’s Waltz, Edith, Flight of Fancy, Jasper County, Lullaby, Marble In My Pocket, The Open Road, Prairie Sunset, Skipping Rocks at Shoal Creek, The Storm’s Promise, Sunflowers, and Wheat.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1097957 By Heather Pierson. By Heather Pierson. Contemporary,New Age. Score. 7 pages. Sacred Vessel Recordings (ASCAP) #700880. Published by Sacred Vessel Recordings (ASCAP) (A0.1097957). Wheat is a 7 page advanced intermediate level piece in the key of A flat major. It is from my album 'The Open Road', a collection of 14 of my solo piano compositions. Though I was born in Missouri, I do think of Kansas as my home state - it’s where I spent the first five years of my life. One of the most beautiful sights (there or anywhere, in my opinion) is that of wheat fields holding up the sky for as far as the eye can see, swaying gently like waves upon the ocean. That sight was the inspiration for this piece. Other pieces available in this collection are: Bittersweet, Doc Bradley’s Waltz, Edith, Flight of Fancy, Jasper County, Late October, Lullaby, Marble In My Pocket, The Open Road, Prairie Sunset, Skipping Rocks at Shoal Creek, The Storm’s Promise, and Sunflowers.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1097948 By Heather Pierson. By Heather Pierson. Contemporary,New Age. Score. 6 pages. Sacred Vessel Recordings (ASCAP) #700867. Published by Sacred Vessel Recordings (ASCAP) (A0.1097948). Jasper County is a 6 page advanced intermediate level piece in the key of D major. It is from my album 'The Open Road', a collection of 14 of my solo piano compositions. My hometown of Joplin, Missouri is located within two counties in that state, Jasper and Newton. Though I was born in a hospital in Newton County, Jasper County is the one that borders Galena, Kansas, the town in which I spent the first five years of my life. This is a musical whimsy about this place. Other pieces available in this collection are: Bittersweet, Doc Bradley’s Waltz, Edith, Flight of Fancy, Late October, Lullaby, Marble In My Pocket, The Open Road, Prairie Sunset, Skipping Rocks at Shoal Creek, The Storm’s Promise, Sunflowers, and Wheat.

Choral Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828670 Composed by Leslie Bricusse. Arranged by Ted Samuels. Contemporary. Score. 16 pages. Theodore A. Samuels #6053843. Published by Theodore A. Samuels (A0.828670). This arrangement was created to commemorate both the 50th anniversary of the 1970 Christmas movie musical SCROOGE & the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven. A more detailed description of this piece & the story & imaginings behind it is included in its covering pages. However, it may be summarized by its subtitle, What If Liszt Played Beethoven While Scrooge & the Londoners Celebrated?  (Franz Liszt was performing in a European concert tour at the same time that Charles Dickens was writing A Christmas Carol in 1843. Liszt's purpose for the tour was to raise money for constructing a statue of Beethoven in his hometown of Bonn, Germany.) The piece begins in the key of Bb for the first 3 verses of the song. The 3rd verse consists of a variation on the melody in the style of Beethoven, perhaps as Liszt might have written & performed it. The key is raised to C major for the final verse, which includes a few quotes from Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, and concludes with some final lines from his Choral Symphony No. 9 as well as The 5th. The full time of performance by piano/keyboard, solo voice and/or choir is approximately 4 minutes, which may be shortened & simplified by skipping the 3rd variation verse as indicated.

English Horn Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.784328 Composed by Joshua Hauser. Instructional. Individual part. 38 pages. Slide Ride #5288645. Published by Slide Ride (A0.784328). 1 Octave Scale Studies in 15+ keys for 4-part ensembles of like or mixed instruments If this is your first exposure to these scale studies, you are in for a treat! Donuts, if you make a mistake! The initial incarnation of these studies were written for trombone quartet and we would play them in the Tennessee Tech Trombone Choir with the challenge that whomever made the first mistake had to buy donuts for the rest of the ensemble. Since then I have brought that version to several clinics and warm up sessions. One time before I got to explain the title, a fellow trombone professor said, Oh, I get it! Don’t step in the holes!I only wish I had thought of that myself... Since we have one of the best donut shops in TN here in Cookeville, treating the studio to sugar coated goodies was always my intent. As with those initial exercises, you can vary these as much as you’d like.· Choose a tempo.· Choose a dynamic.· Choose an articulation/style.One way I like to play these is to have one person be the model, playing the entire scale over and over while everyone else plays the fragmented versions. That helps everyone to keep on track and stay in time. Double or triple up the parts for ensemble cohesion with a larger group.Practice one key, gradually speeding it up to improve fluidity, or choose a variation and take it through all keys, playing version A, B, C, or D then skipping to play the same set in a new key.If you want an additional challenge, play them in different octaves or change the key. Play the F Major set in f minor (all forms), different modes, etc. Players really have to be on their toes to remember if they are playing melodic minor in the ascending or descending form! For jazz players, try swinging them in dorian or mixolydian modes. The variations are endless! If you are using these with transposing instruments, 1) is F Major in Concert Pitch, 2) is Bb Major in Concert pitch, and so on. When you reach a scale that is enharmonic for another key (Db/C#, Gb/F#, or Cb/B), they are presented in both keys for each instrument so Trumpets can play in Eb while the Flutes are playing in C# with similar examples for all keys. All Donut Etudes with the same volume number are compatible so you can play them in mixed quartets or large ensembles with one or more instruments/people on part 1 and a different instrument on part 2, etc. Since the quartets are all identical, conductors/coaches can use any of the scores to tell which part should be playing at what time. Once you have played a scale with one set of parts, everyone can rotate to a different part and play the same scales again!Enjoy!

Don’t step in the holes!  I only wish I had thought of that myself... Since we have one of the best donut shops in TN here in Cookeville, treating the studio to sugar coated goodies was always my intent.  As with those exercises, you can vary these as much as you’d like. • Choose a tempo • Choose a dynamic. • Choose an articulation/style.  One way I like to play these is to have one person be the model, playing the entire scale over and over while everyone else plays the fragmented versions. That helps everyone to keep on track and stay in time. Double or triple up the parts for ensemble cohesion with a larger group.  Practice one key, gradually speeding it up to improve fluidity or choose a variation and take it through all keys, playing version A, B, C, or D then skipping 5 lines to play the same set in a new key.  If you want an additional challenge in terms of range, play them in different octaves to expand the set.  Additionally, you can change the Key. Play them in f minor (all forms), different modes, etc. For jazz players, try swinging them in dorian or mixolydian modes.  The variations are endless!  All Donut Etudes with the same version number are compatible so you can play them in mixed duets with one person on part 1 and a different instrument on part 2.  Enjoy!
