Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862509 Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 6 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2032067. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862509). A three-part set based on the topography of the keyboard, and its sonic possibilities and implications. The minor triads of C#, D# and G# all have white keys immediately above and below the chords. The Major triads of C and G have black keys immediately ABOVE the lowest and BELOW the highest notes. These two elements, along with the Major triads on the three sharp-key chords, have been combined into a haunting and ethereal setting, with the left-hand accompaniment stating these shapes, and the melody in the treble taking its cue from the scale implied by the chords below. Octaves, triplets, and 16ths are all part of the swirling mist of melody that surrounds the highly stable and uniform accompaniment. Each measure begins with the low octave on the root, and jumps up to state the shape being used, using dom 7ths to transition to the next sound and shape. Chopin and Liszt did not share many musical values, but they DID both utilize the shape and particular formations of various keys to suit their expressive needs. And, so we salute them both here, in this first of three pieces using this time-honored tradition of pianistic, yet evocative composition. MBB.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.984717 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by John M. Honeycutt. Contemporary. Score. 6 pages. Music Innovators Workshop #4359383. Published by Music Innovators Workshop (A0.984717). This piece is notated on a vertically oriented tablature called a key map. Key maps are intended to SHOW you (visually) which keys to play by matching (mapping) the locations of the keys on the keyboard. >>> The group of 12 keys from Middle C up to B form what we call the green Octave Group. (There are 7 of these identical groups on the piano distinguished by their colors and locations.) The key map staff is based on an octave group of the keyboard. For each key map octave group, the 5 vertical lines of the staff stand for the 5 matching black KEYS. >>> Staff lines ARE SPACED to match the horizontal spacing of the black keys on the keyboard The notes for black keys are placed ON these staff lines. The notes for the white keys are placed BETWEEN the lines. >>> The notes of a key map move to the left and right to indicate change in PITCH and down the page to indicate the passing of TIME (rhythm). The vertical length of each note is proportional to the time (in beats) that the sound requires.Series RyC - Rhythm Color Coded. In this series the rhythm is color coded to emphasize visually the rhythmic movements of the sounds. (This addition of color makes no change to the shapes of the notes, which remain TrueScaled to the beats.) White notes are 1 beat or its multiples. YELLOW notes are 1/2 beat, or its multiples. GREEN notes are 1/3 beat, or its multiples. BLUE notes are 1/4 beat or its multiples.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596596 Composed by Juan MarÃa Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards. Score. 12 pages. Juan Maria Solare #5888527. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596596). Three Homages for piano solo1 - Seduce us badly (to Claude Debussy)2 - Ave Verdi (to Giuseppe Verdi) 3 - Schubertango (to Franz Schubert)Three Homagesfor piano solo1) Seduce us badly is an anagram of Claude Debussy. Stephen Porter's project Re-Imagining Debussy required the work to interact in some way with the music or compositional spirit of Debussy. I answered by using some of his technical devices: chords parallelisms, whole-tone scales, brief melodic shapes, central notes and a broad multi-layered texture. 2) Ave VerdiA miniature composed on the death-day of Verdi (27th January 2013). The piece is based on the 7-tone scala enigmatica used by Giuseppe Verdi in his Ave Maria (1889, first from Quattro Pezzi Sacri) and its complement (the missing 5 notes), treated as twelve-tone field. The piece is dedicated to that other Giuseppe: Lupis. The scala enigmatica: [Do - Reb - Mi - Fa# - Sol# - La# - Si] Complement: [Re - Mib - Fa - Sol - La]Original Tone Row: 0 1 4 6 8 10 11 2 3 5 7 9 3) SchubertangoTango music has more to do with Franz Schubert than with any other classical composer. Harmonies and types of melody are extremely similar. Such similarities cease, at the latest, when we come to rhythm. This miniature shows how Schubert's melodies can be flawlessly integrated into the musical language of tango. If one doesn't know the original pieces, you will not even recognize at all that there is a quotation. In the score, the composer kindly tags the sources of the quotations; nevertheless, there is also a hidden quotation (or rather an allusion) that doesn't stem from Schubert: it is the chord progression (not the melody) of a very well known tango of the modern era. Do you find it? The Schubertango was composed in Bremen (Germany) on 28 November 2014 and has a duration of 1 minute. The piece is dedicated to pianist Stephen Porter, in the frame of his project Re-Imagining Schubert, hosted by Vox Novus (New York City) and their cycle Fifteen Minutes of Fame. Juan Maria Solare, born 1966 in Argentina, works currently in Germany as composer, pianist (contemporary & tango) and teaching at the University of Bremen and at the Hochschule fuer Kuenste Bremen. His music has been performed in five continents. Find his music on Spotify, Apple Music, Napster, etc. https://sptfy.com/jmsolare

Piano Solo - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Joseph Dillon Ford. 21st Century, Contemporary Classical, Impressionistic. Score. 22 pages. Published by David Warin Solomons
The pdf file contains the original score (in letter format) followed by the somewhat larger copy with dedication by the composer and fingerings by Valentin Bogolubov who premiered the 3 Chromicons.
The sound sample is the live performance.
The Three Chromicons were premiered by pianist Valentin Bogolubov at the Société de concerts de St-Bruno, Saint-Bruno, Quebec, Canada, on 27 January 2007. Bogolubov's adventurous, technically demanding program, which also featured the works of Alexander Scriabin and Jean Chatillon, was accompanied by video animation of numerous works of art, four of which were created by the composer (among them, the Chromicon No. 3).
Ford explains the significance of these unique scores:
"In both my earliest chromicons, which I had begun to create by the 1980s, and in those I continue to make today, color is the element that links what is seen to what is heard. Unlike composer Alexander Scriabin, who may have been a true synaesthete as the result of a rare neurological condition enabling him actually to hear colors, my approach to color music has been by way of analogy. Although the tones in a musical scale and the colors of a prism both result from specific vibratory frequencies, scales can be replicated in various octaves while there is no comparable transposition observable in the case of the spectrum. However, the analogy between pitch and hue is implicit in the term "chromatic scale" (the Greek chrôma signifies "color"), and on that basis it is possible to equate the twelve tones of Western music with the hues on a twelvefold color wheel: red, red-orange, orange, yellow-orange, yellow, yellow-green, green, blue-green, blue, blue-violet, violet, and red-violet."
"By placing the pitch names of the chromatic scale in a separate band around the periphery of a such color wheel, much like the numbers on the face of a clock, and by rotating the central color wheel, it is possible for any given pitch to be aligned and associated with any hue. Such an easily constructed device, which I have dubbed the "chromonomicon," is the key necessary to decipher the musical meaning of my chromicons. The chromicon can be thought of as a calligraphic text in which each discrete area of color is a separate letter."
"Although there are literally millions of possible colors, all of them can be categorized as one of the twelve hues shown on the chromonomicon. Instead of being written from left to right or from right to left, the color-letters in a chromicon are arranged concentrically. The shapes of the individual letters, usually painted in watercolor and "illuminated" with metallic paints, colored pencils, and other media, are the result of each artist's creative meditation. The personal meaning of the chromiconic text as a whole emerges during and after this meditation, and may be expressed by a conventional title or accompanying commentary."
"Now, anyone wishing to realize a chromicon is at liberty to follow any path—straight or curvilinear—from the centermost letter to the periphery, constructing a cantus (melody) by notating the musical pitches associated with each contiguous color-letter encountered along the way. The cantus thereafter serves as the structural basis of a new, freely composed work. The individual pitches in the cantus may be moved to any octave, and may be repeated any number of times before proceeding to the next pitch in the sequence. Customarily, once the final tone of the cantus is reached, the entire melody is heard in reverse (retrograde), resulting in a palindrome. That palindrome is itself subject to varied repetition, so that in formal terms, each realization of a chromicon amounts to a 'mirror' theme with variations."
"Chromicon No. 3 travels even further back in collective human memory to the eighteenth century. For all its contemporary melodic and harmonic inflections, the style is pervasively contrapuntal, summoning to mind the polyphonic keyboard textures of Bach and Handel. It eschews the worldly strife and diversions mirrored in the first two chromicons, maintaining a dignified, highly stylized manner throughout, but with its unexpected final cadence on D, there seems to be a fleeting intimation of transcendence."
