My Mother had some sad news to give me. Dad was very ill. My whole life flashed before me. My parents were always 200% supportive of all my artistic endeavors. None of my success would have been possible but for my Dad and Mom. My memories of my Dad and my Mom flooded my mind like a deluge. When I heard the news about how gravely ill he was I thought to myself that so often we give thanks, honor, or show our love when it is too late. Who wants to be that person? I was finally in the unique position to show my gratitude and love to my parents in the most special way that I could - through music from my heart and soul. I got the courage to look deeply within and then I began to write what was to become the first and second songs, respectively Tears from My Eyes: Remember Your Feelings and Tears from My Eyes: Reflection and Contemplation on my Tears from My Eyes: Songs from my Soul album. You will now be able to do just the same for your loved ones with this new music. Your intermediate level to advanced students and even professional musicians should find this to be a welcomed piece to learn and master. It looks deceptively simple but the learning and challenge comes from two smaller sub-ensembles playing together in their own collective units legato con moto while playing together as a whole music ensemble Everyone will enjoy and bathe in the beautiful harmonies that will resonate when the entire music ensemble begins to listen to each while playing together as a group. Your musicians will hone their skills in playing together with just the right balance that this song requires. Your musicians will also hone their skills for subdividing and maintaining an inner beat that is in sync with your conducting because there is no percussion and the notes are freely flowing on and off the down beat yet not sounding heavily syncopated when performed. When will you know when you have achieved the right balance and flow of the music? You will know when, because you will hear it and feel it when it comes into place. But I can help you with all of this with what I have to offer you today. I share with you now the final and 5th movement to Tears from my Eyes - Onward and Upward (for String Orchestra). This particular was created and produced after the Songs from My Soul album was sent for distribution. So, this song has yet to be officially released. All five movements will be released as an album Mourning in the Rain. This 5th movement Onward and Upward has a decisive emotional resolution and conviction in its pathos. The dynamics reflect accordingly ranging from mf to fff indicative of overcoming adversity and grief. Imagine overcoming despair, rising out of grief and depression and finally seeing the light of day - to join the ranks of the living and re-embracing life once again.Contact info: Tito AbeledaVisionary Quest Recordshttps://www.visionaryquestrecordsEmail: tito@visionaryquestrecords.comFollow Tito on Social Media:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/titoabeledaTwitter: https://twitter.com/titoabeleda

Small Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1195919 Composed by Annemieke Lustenhouwer. Contemporary. Score and parts. 80 pages. Annemieke Lustenhouwer #795094. Published by Annemieke Lustenhouwer (A0.1195919). What happens when you close your eyes and you see yourself standing next to Mother Mary when Jesus dies? What do you see and what do you feel? That was what I’ve been asking myself for years when I read the text Stabat Mater. This composition tells about this experience and this questions. Sometimes a motif tells quite literally about this story, like the moment when Jesus is nailed down the cross: first the right hand, then the left hand and finaly with one nail both feet. In the first part of the composition, the viola tells with sforzato accents about this. This Stabat Mater is not only an expression of the pain of the Virgin Mother, but is also a tribute to JS Bach as well. Bach is by some seen as a fith evangelist. Nowadays there are still a lot of people who are affected by how his music tells about biblical stories, like I am. In this Stabat Mater I use the number 5 to express that: the first part is written in 5/4th and the last part Quando corpus et Amen is written with 5 parts in the choir. There can also be found a reworked choral in the choir passages of  O quam tristis et afflicta. It is the choral Wie nahe mir mein Ende from BWV 166.Polyfony is a returning presence in this Stabat Mater. I had an visual idea about this. When I was young I saw in an exhibition a tapestry with all kinds of colours and threads, and everything felt in motion. It was a kind of organized mess, but it was beautiful and felt perfect. I wondered if I could manage to express this idea in music as well. Under one of the polyphonic passages there is a Latin-American dance rhythm to express that motion. I heard that rhythm in my childhood in a rhythmbox of the keyboard of my dad. Another passage has the baroque sarabande-rhythme underneath in the double bass.A lullaby-feeling in some parts of the Stabat Mater tells about another story that got intertwined with this composition. It’s the story of a mother who rocks her terminal dying little son in her arms. I once read that story and it felt connected with the Stabat Mater text for a long time. I decided to express that as well. This composition is dedicated to the Dutch conductor Geert van den Dungen. However I saw many conductors, while playing the oboe and clarinet from a young age, there was nobody who let me think very deeply about music. Geert was the one who changed that for me. I started to study scores and developed a great interest in music analysis and music psychology. Many moments of inspiration and understanding for this Stabat Mater happened on choir rehearsals and concerts where Geert was working. I am very grateful for that.String parts only, see for conductors/ choir score Sheet Music plus and Sheet music direct.

String Quintet Cello,Double Bass,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1317853 Composed by Patrick Prejean. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical. 215 pages. Patrick Prejean #906523. Published by Patrick Prejean (A0.1317853). These dances where written at the request of the executive director of CityMusic Cleveland. They are based and inspired by North and Sub-Saharan African Dances in addition to a reimagining of fairy tales. There are 8 movements making this the biggest project I've ever composed. This quintet may also be performed as a String Orchestra ensemble. I - There is a story about a man named Alexander Dynis (Deniz) who is believed to have ended up in Ruthenia (modern day Ukraine) as a PoW when the Ottomans invaded the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Not much is known about his early life but we do know is that eventually afterwards he was granted the position of Starosta (town mayor/landlord) of Kozieglowy (Poland) by the Bishop of Krakow. He is the only Black starosta that we know of to this day. His story is interesting and is the basis of this movement and was inspired by the soundtrack of a game called Hellish Quart. II - This movement is a dance of ritual which emphasizes the different pitch intonations of the human voices hence the dissonant harmonies. Imagine walking through the savannah and hearing these voices but you are unsure of their intentions. This dance is heavy and percussive. III - This movement is of a young woman who is kidnapped by the Vikings and dreams of escaping captivity. IV - There are 3 distinct motives for this movement which combine to create a battle - like scene, those being the 6 quarter note triplets, the rhythmic motive, and the driving 16th notes.  V - I wanted to create the sounding of the natural horns of the Ancient and Classical Eras and to combine them with a retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood. Her journey begins upon hearing these horns and prompted to ride out to begin her quest.VI/VII/VIII - These movements where edited from my Death Waltzes for the Living. There are hidden titles for number 6 and 7: Loss of Mind and Hospital. These waltzes are a reimagining of Cinderella's life but instead of her story playing out as we know it, she suffers a psychotic break and is transported into our world and rushed to the hospital. The final movement concludes the piece with a Dance of Death. I have had many close encounters with permanent oblivion and the result of this is what I call Hitchcock Horror harmonic language. These encounters supplimented with the dreams of the unconscious realm create an uneasy dance that ends almost as abruptly as they begin.

Latin • German. On letting go(Concerning the selection of the texts) In the selection of the texts, I have allowed myself to be motivated and inspired by the concept of “letting goâ€. This appears to me to be one of the essential aspects of dying, but also of life itself. We humans cling far too strongly to successful achievements, whether they have to do with material or ideal values, or relationships of all kinds. We cannot and do not want to let go, almost as if our life depended on it. As we will have to practise the art of letting go at the latest during our hour of death, perhaps we could already make a start on this while we are still alive. Tagore describes this farewell with very simple but strikingly vivid imagery: “I will return the key of my doorâ€. I have set this text for tenor solo. Here I imagine, and have correspondingly noted in a certain passage of the score, that the protagonist finds himself as though “in an ocean†of voices in which he is however not drowning, but immersing himself in complete relaxation. The phenomenon of letting go is described even more simply and tersely in Psalm 90, verse 12: “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdomâ€. This cannot be expressed more plainly.I have begun the requiem with a solo boy’s voice singing the beginning of this psalm on a single note, the note A. This in effect says it all. The work comes full circle at the culmination with a repeat of the psalm which subsequently leads into a resplendent “lux aeternaâ€. The intermediate texts of the Requiem which highlight the phenomenon of letting go in the widest spectrum of colours originate on the one hand from the Latin liturgy of the Messa da Requiem (In Paradisum, Libera me, Requiem aeternam, Mors stupebit) and on the other hand from poems by Joseph von Eichendorff, Hermann Hesse, Rabindranath Tagore and Rainer Maria Rilke. All texts have a distinctive positive element in common and view death as being an organic process within the great system of the universe, for example when Hermann Hesse writes: “Entreiß dich, Seele, nun der Zeit, entreiß dich deinen Sorgen und mache dich zum Flug bereit in den ersehnten Morgen†[“Tear yourself way , o soul, from time, tear yourself away from your sorrows and prepare yourself to fly away into the long-awaited morningâ€] and later: “Und die Seele unbewacht will in freien Flügen schweben, um im Zauberkreis der Nacht tief und tausendfach zu leben†[“And the unfettered soul strives to soar in free flight to live in the magic sphere of the night, deep and thousandfoldâ€]. Or Joseph von Eichendorff whose text evokes a distant song in his lines: “Und meine Seele spannte weit ihre Flügel aus. Flog durch die stillen Lande, als flöge sie nach Haus†[“And my soul spread its wings wide. Flew through the still country as if homeward bound.â€]Here a strong romantically tinged occidental resonance can be detected which is however also accompanied by a universal spirit going far beyond all cultures and religions. In the beginning was the sound Long before any sort of word or meaningful phrase was uttered by vocal chords, sounds, vibrations and tones already existed. This brings us back to the music. Both during my years of study and at subsequent periods, I had been an active participant in the world of contemporary music, both as percussionist and also as conductor and composer. My early scores had a somewhat adventurous appearance, filled with an abundance of small black dots: no rhythm could be too complicated, no register too extreme and no harmony too dissonant. I devoted myself intensely to the handling of different parameters which in serial music coexist in total equality: I also studied aleatory principles and so-called minimal music.I subsequently emigrated and took up residence in Spain from where I embarked on numerous travels over the years to India, Africa and South America. I spent repeated periods during this time as a resident in non-European countries. This meant that the currents of contemporary music swept past me vaguely and at a great distance. What I instead absorbed during this period were other completely new cultures in which I attempted to immerse myself as intensively as possible.I learned foreign languages and came into contact with musicians of all classes and styles who had a different cultural heritage than my own: I was intoxicated with the diversity of artistic potential.Nevertheless, the further I distanced myself from my own Western musical heritage, the more this returned insistently in my consciousness. The scene can be imagined of sitting somewhere in the middle of the Brazilian jungle surrounded by the wailing of Indians and out of the blue being provided with the opportunity to hear Beethoven’s late string quartets: this can be a heart-wrenching experience, akin to an identity crisis. This type of experience can also be described as cathartic. Whatever the circumstances, my “renewed†occupation with the “old†country would not permit me to return to the point at which I as an audacious young student had maltreated the musical parameters of so-called contemporary music. A completely different approach would be necessary: an extremely careful approach, inching my way gradually back into the Western world: an approach which would welcome tradition back into the fold, attempt to unfurl the petals and gently infuse this tradition with a breath of contemporary life.Although I am aware that I will not unleash a revolution or scandal with this approach, I am nevertheless confident as, with the musical vocabulary of this Requiem, I am travelling in an orbit in which no ballast or complex structures will be transported or intimated: on the contrary, I have attempted to form the message of the texts in music with the naivety of a “homecomerâ€. Large Ensemble Choir - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.747194 Composed by Christopher R. Brown. Christian,Gospel,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 92 pages. Christopher Brown #4601913. Published by Christopher Brown (A0.747194). About the song: This anthem begins by compelling the listener and the performer to consider the parable of the hidden treasure and the pearl. The second verse reflects on David's superlative description of God's Word in Ps. 19. In his letter to the Philippians, Paul speaks of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ when compared to everything else in this life. The lyrics of this song are intended to echo these Truths, encourage the believer, and testify to the incomparable gift of entering into the Kingdom of God, understanding His Word, and being strengthened and set free to do the good works that He prepared in advance for us to do.Can be performed with piano accompaniment only, OR with additional band members (rhythm chart included), OR with full orchestra. Please Note:You can purchase individual copies of the choral score separately on Sheet Music Plus. String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1153128 By U2. By U2. Arranged by Kyle Pudenz. Celtic,Contemporary,Irish,Pop,Rock. Score and parts. 30 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #753361. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.1153128). One does not simply walk into their local music store to find a string arrangement like this one... Unlike much of what you'll find out in the world of cheap gig music, this was in fact written BY a string player who has played in symphony orchestras, rock bands, and everything in between; who knows what gigging as a quartet looks like, but also what will wow your audiences without requiring weeks of rehearsal to prepare. So leave your days of sight-reading through piano scores behind and give your quartet some firepower with this hard hitting chart, that will surely enable your ensemble to do at least a little justice to this legendarily emotional banger from Ireland's finest! Bono's soaring vocal melodies on this tune offer more than enough material on their own to tug at an audience's heartstrings, but in this chart you'll also find faithful adaptations of the iconic guitar & bass parts (performed by cello & viola) that truly make this song one of a kind. Using extended string techniques like chopping & strum bowing, you'll feel as if you're rocking out with the band... with no need to hire those annoying extra musicians. But as we all know, strings have much more to offer dynamically than simply plodding along mimicking a rock band, so I've taken several select moments in this chart to break away briefly from those driving grooves into more open, contemplative textures, truly allowing this instrumentation to shine in its own unique way. All of that said, maybe rhythmic string playing isn't your thing and you just need a chart that classical string players can read through on a cocktail gig where the buyer clearly doesn't pay attention to the lyrical content of their song requests. If that's the case, I've provided a couple alternate figures at the back of the book that can be used to replace the percussive stuff in the viola part, making it much simpler without sacrificing too much of the energy. OR if you want to go even further, maybe you DO want to hire that band after all so you can just relax and play some melody lines. Lucky for you I have included a rhythm section lead sheet as part of the music packet, so that any auxiliary musicians you want to add in will be able to follow along with ease. If you have absolutely no idea what chopping and strum bowing are, and you'd like to expand your horizons and learn a bit more, I highly recommend this resource: https://strum-bowing-groove-academy.teachable.com?coupon_code=KYLE20&affcode=459429_z8y3atf As mentioned before though, these techniques are not 100% necessary to handle this arrangement, so feel free to experiment on your own and add them in as you feel comfortable. Enjoy this chart, and don't be afraid to do a little head-banging once that groove really locks in! Performance time - approximately 4:05-4:20 depending on how hard you want to push the tempo Questions? Feel free to contact me via my website, www.kylepudenz.com/ or on the 'Insta @theviolinvagabond

An Orchestral Fanfare, written for the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Perth. 2 Flutes (2nd doubling Piccolo), 2 Oboes, 2 Bb Clarinet, 2 Bassoon, 4 French Horns, 2 Trumpets in Bb, 2 Trombones, 1 Tuba, 4 Percussion (Timpani, Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Cymbals), Harp, StringsComposer's notes:2022 was a year that sparked inspiration for me. I am not talking about just one spark either, but a series that beautifully led me to the creation of my piece. After seeing the 2022 MetSO program it was evident that it lightly using the Brass players, and I knew they were feeling a bit underutilised. Which sparked the first idea in my mind to write a piece that would take full advantage of their skills, and heavily use brass instruments. The program coincided with the 45th Anniversay of the Orchestra which started it life as the Karrinyup Symphony Orchestra. Rekindling the orchestra’s relationship with the City of Stirling and returning to the City of Stirling as a rehearsal venue in 2023, was another spark of inspiration which led me towards the piece’s naming… the ‘Karrinyup Fanfare’. The last spark of inspiration was a query inside my mind. The opening of the piece contrasts two somewhat conflicting meanings of the word Karrinyup. During an Aboriginal Studies unit, I discovered that Karrinyup is a Noongar word that translates to “the place where there are spidersâ€. However, this differs from the City of Stirling official meaning of the name Karrinyup on the website. It states the word means “the place where Kangaroos drinkâ€, possibly because it sounds much more pleasant and doesn’t inspire the fear that spiders often do. It was this contrary interpretation of the word ‘Karrinyup’ which provided the final spark of inspiration I needed for this composition. You see, when you listen to the opening, the theme jumps up and down through the horns, and represents the Kangaroo – Yongka. Whilst as the fanfare continues, you will notice the second theme – the crawling strings represent the spider – Kar. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it. May it, and this new year, spark inspiration for you.

String Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955721 Composed by Dorothy Heyward, Du Bose Heyward, George Gershwin, and Ira Gershwin. Arranged by Phil Thrift. Jazz. Score and parts. 13 pages. Phil Thrift #5333957. Published by Phil Thrift (A0.955721). Everyone has heard the very evocative song Summertime from the opera Porgy and Bess many times. I hope you’ll enjoy my interpretation written for solo viola and string quintet: 2 violins, tutti viola, cello, and bass. After the introduction, the soloist is given plenty of space to make the most of the rich sound of the viola’s lowest octave. The accompaniment is thickened marginally when tutti viola and bass join in at letter B. At letter C the soloist repeats the melody but one octave higher, gradually adding more and more decoration as the accompaniment builds and reaches a climax in measure 36. That is followed by a strong statement from the quintet which ebbs away to give the soloist space again to take us into the concluding section (watch out for those 5/4 measures!) with long notes allowing the listener to fully appreciate the sound of the viola and a quasi-cadenza to round off this arrangement. This is a good chance for your viola player to step briefly into the limelight and show us what the viola can do! Although my version follows the original closely, the soloist should not feel constricted to the notes of the written part, should try to achieve a slightly more jazzy style, playing a little behind the time while the accompanying quintet sticks rigidly to the tempo. The quintet parts could be played by a small string orchestra instead of solo instruments.
