This wonderous little musical piece , from the motion picture The Lorax from the Dr. Seuss movie, depicts of the main character the Lorax speaking for the trees and in many ways advocating for all things, people and groups that can not speak for themselves. And even in the times that we live in, this story still rings true today. And beauty can still be found in sadness, or endings whether the be falling leaves in the park, or even with the events that are said , we grow and learn, being grateful for what we have , and learn to find our voices to speak out for the things that truly matter in life. This music, which is much like a hymnal, especially in the beginning of the piece, is perfect for this message. A message of peace, reflectiveness and hope and courage. As a side note , this piece should be played with lots of thoughtful rubato, and when the meter changes for 4/4(5/4) to 12/8, the beat does not change from quarter to dotted quarter .In the middle, minor section, I really added and improvised my musical skills per chord and melody of the song which makes my arrangement very distinctive, individual and unique. This would be great for a movie themed concert, all by it's self, for a funeral, for Arbor Bay/ Tree ceremony , for fall or autumn music/ themed programs, recitals, etc. Sure to be a well used piece in your collection. Scored for piccolo, flute 1, 2, 3 4, alto and bass flute. Vivace For Violin And Hornfor the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry I was so impressed while listening to some of the wonderful recordings of Elmira Darvarova on the violin and Howard Wall on the Horn. It inspired me to finish a duet that toke birth back in the times when I started playing violin. Now after 40 years I guess it is ready!!! I am very grateful for their inspiration. It is dedicated to - „Elmira and Howard The piece requires high skilled and experienced artists. I have used some interpretation symbols to suggest an interpretation and of course I tried to manipulate the audio file. I did very little Bowing. I prefer to leave it to your own interpretation, creativity, or school demands or preferences. Feel free to experience your own bowing and interpretation. Remember that as an artist you can perform as it pleases you better. The score was written on Finale. The sound file For the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry, was performed with samplers from Garritan and conceived as an audio support for the presentation of the score. There is nothing more quintessentially military than the grand sound of marches at special military events. Hundreds of marches have served their purposes through the many decades of military tradition in the United States of America. This 3.5-minute march was composed for the occasion of the change of command of the 55th Wing—“The Fightin’ 55thâ€â€”under Air Combat Command, located at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. The ceremony took place on June 14, 2019, which was also Flag Day. The new march served as a grateful tribute to the outgoing Commander, Colonel Michael H. Manion, and a welcoming gesture to the new Commander, Colonel Gavin P. Marks. Printed copies of the score were presented to the Commanders before the ceremony, and the march was premiered as the final pre-ceremony musical selection. The opening motifs are strongly reminiscent of the introductory measures of the “Air Force Song†most commonly played by Air Force brass quintets. Keeping in tradition with the form of most marches, the “Trio†section presents new material in a new key (down a fifth), with a contrastingly quiet dynamic. The opening motif of the Trio strain is a mutation, or a paraphrase, of “Anchors Aweighâ€, emphasizing the joint-force nature of the 55th Wing. The melody is repeated with a louder dynamic and a countermelody in the horn, and then is repeated once more with increased excitement in the accompaniment, variety of dynamics, and even a temporary key shift. Straying from the form most used by the “March Kingâ€, John Philip Sousa, Dr. Thrower omitted a fourth or final strain, and instead he modulated the key back to the original B-flat major and brought back the melodic content from the first strain. This form predates Sousa, and was more commonly used in Europe and early America. It smacks of “sonata formâ€, and even the modern formal designation of “recapitulating march†alludes to sonata form. The final recapitulating strain repeats with an obbligato soaring above it in the first trumpet part, now on piccolo trumpet. The march ends with a short coda that brings back the opening motivic allusion to the Air Force Song. Due to the selected formal structure, this march, “The Fightin’ 55thâ€, is much more unified than most typical marches. The very nature of military marches (including America’s beloved “Stars and Stripes Foreverâ€) displays four or even five completely unrelated melodies, or strains, throughout. The incorporation of thematic structure similar to that found in sonata form indeed makes “The Fightin’ 55th†an appropriate and even artistic concert march.

Academy, and served a 26 year career as an officer and a pilot in the U.S. Air Force active duty and reserves. Now I look back and wonder where all the time went. I wrote this song to depict how I feel about getting to play the piano again at the ripe old age of 49 after such a long absence. For 26 years I did not have a piano so I did not think about playing. Then my mother in law gave me her piano and it was like reuniting with a long lost friend. I am grateful for any opportunity I have to play now. It makes me feel like I am 18 years old again with my whole life ahead of me. But then I have to wake up from my dream and get back to reality. (2015 Steinway/SMP Piano Contest).

Many working brass quintets throughout the nation joined a consortium of performances for the fall of 2019—particularly near September 23, as that was the date the expedition ended in Saint Louis, Missouri, where it also began. With the images of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in mind, the compositional process occurred quickly, and a draft of the full-length work was printed for a reading with Offutt Brass one week after it was begun. A final product was to be delivered to the consortium members by the end of April for enough time to bring the work to life in the fall. Within the music itself are several hidden meanings which, though imperceptible upon listening, are significant nonetheless. It will be noted that there is little rest for the players. For the span of 4’40â€, out of nearly 1000 measures of collective music, there is a total of 99 complete measures of rest shared between the performers. Throughout the expedition 33 key personnel participated, three of whom famously ring in the ears of all Americans: Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, and the well-known Shoshone guide, Sacagawea. To acknowledge the arduous nature of this enormous undertaking, what little rest there is in this composition multiplies the number of explorers with the three most famous names.

En particulier, le premier mouvement est basé sur l'interaction de la triade de sol majeur Solâ??Siâ??Ré des cordes de guitare à vide 2â??3â??4, le motif ascendant 1 impliquant les notes Miâ??Fa#â??Laâ??Do# (à l'origine sur la première corde), et le motif descendant 2 utilisant les notes Miâ??Doâ??Sibâ??La (à l'origine sur la corde de basse 6). At that time my family and I were staying in our home city of Kharkiv (also known as Kharkov), Ukraine for almost two years. We considered that pandemic period as a disaster, but later have realized that it actually was a rather happy time, because a war came to our homeland just a few months later. Since 2022 a considerable fraction of the 1.5 millions of Kharkiv citizens have left their homes, those who stayed have been living under ceaseless missile attacks, and many have been killed. I would like to dedicate this Sonata to the frontier city of Kharkiv and, most of all, to its citizens suffering from the war.Yet, the music of the Sonata does not have any specific program. Here I will give a brief overview of its main composition elements to facilitate future interpretations.The first and fourth movements of this Sonata are based on the interplay between the twelve-tone principle and the G-major tonal center, natural for the guitar. Namely, the first movement is based on the interaction of the G-major triad Gâ??Bâ??D of the open guitar strings 2â??3â??4, ascending motif 1 involving the notes Eâ??F#â??Aâ??C# (originally on the first string), and descending motif 2 using the notes E-â??Câ??Bbâ??A- (originally, on the bass string 6). These elements supplement each other to almost make up twelve tones (apart from the missing F), and the motifs alternate with ostinato fragments where each note in the G major triad is step-by-step moved by a semitone up or down.The second movement is a Scherzo involving numerous semitones in accented chords and fast passages, as well as chromatic melodic motion in the bass voice. It is almost atonal in some fragments, but has an overall tonal center of A-minor.The third movement is a meditative Adagio based on a theme composed within hexatonic scale Dâ??Eâ??Fâ??G#â??Aâ??B and ostinato chords involving open bass strings Eâ??Aâ??D and semitone Bâ??C.Finally, the fourth movement is based on the complete twelve-tone theme consisting of two phrases including motifs 1 and 2 from the first movement: Gâ??Fâ??Bbâ??Abâ??Câ??Ebâ??D and Eâ??Bâ??C#â??Aâ??F#. This theme is presented in its prime and retrograde forms. There are dialogues between the first string, basses and open middle strings, similar to the first movement. In the culmination, the twelve-tone theme is performed using the parallel motion of the standard guitar G-major chord with open middle strings across twelve positions.The Sonata was premiered and recorded (CD Naxos No. 8.574630) by the prominent Ukrainian guitarist Marko Topchii who has also lived and studied in Kharkiv. I am extremely grateful to him for the brilliant performance of this piece.I am greatly indebted to Productions dâ??Oz for keeping my original notations in places where these do not conform to the publisherâ??s style.

This fanfare was commissioned by Amanda Drinkwater, the director of bands at the time, to be a symbol of heart and identity for the organization – to be performed by the band while marching onto the field, as well as to promote a sense of comradery and unity among all members of the band. I was lucky enough to call Amanda Drinkwater one of my earliest mentors in music, and I will always be grateful for her encouragement and teaching, and for giving me this opportunity. Towards the end of my time in high school, I had gotten very serious about composition and trumpet performance, and was looking ahead to music as my future college major and career. That timing was serendipitous for each of us. Amanda conceived of this project that year, and, knowing of my passion for composing, graciously offered me the opportunity to compose the piece. For me, I was thrilled to accept the opportunity, and it meant a lot. I cherished my experiences in the Marcus Band, and I saw this as my chance to give something back. In that spirit, even though the piece is short, I put my heart into it. This commission was also my first professional engagement as a composer, and that was tremendously exciting.

The first idea for him was to write a variation on Trinity's Alma Mater theme. It began as a mere project for his first piano recital. However, the finished product was an amateur composition that was received well by the audience. Finishing it within a week of time, Loui recalls that it could be further improved if he wishes to revise it heavily. But, Loui claims that it is best for the composition to remain as the first attempt for him to compose. Loui appreciates the guidance of his piano professor, Dr. Irina Voro especially, and appreciates his family for their support. He is also grateful for his girlfriend Samantha Koon for her love and support. .

It’s written in memory of my brother, Tex, who we lost to COVID in 2020. In homage to his passion, dirt track racing, there is a contrasting section of paint-swapping, fender-bending frenzy, which comes to an all too sudden end as did his life. The title has nothing to do with billiards but refers to his long-tenured racing number and logo.The music uses unconventional scales which are actually six-tone pitch sets treated as different key centers. They produce a lush mixture of consonance and dissonance that at turns feel comforting and unsettling.Writing 8 Ball was a cathartic experience to explore my own emotions, cement my brother’s proper place in my memories, and produce a tangible expression of my love for my brother. It was written as an assignment in the 2023 summer composition workshop at Tarrant County College. I’m grateful to my instructor, Dr. Aaron Kline, the music department at TCC, and the musicians of our performing quartet for their part in bringing this music to life.
