Matthew Alan Edwards #4266215. Published by Matthew Alan Edwards (A0.898552). Now offering 25% off my SMP price at MatthewAlanEdwards.com/op-7 !Canzona alla terza Verbum supernum prodiens was composed late one night after I was inspired by the chant melody as found in the Hymnal 1982, hymn 63. Rather than compose on the computer as I usually do, I wrote by hand as I determined the best four-part canonic treatment for each of the phrases of the chant. Composing this was akin to assembling a puzzle, both in mindset (this note fits best here) and addictive quality (need to finish this now!). Originally conceived as a short organ piece, I quickly chose to add the English text from the Hymnal 1982 then text directly from the Liber Usualis, a Catholic book of Gregorian chants commonly used until the reforms of the Second Vatican Council (Vatican II). This piece is similar in style to an Italian Renaissance canzona or early German Baroque kanon. It should be performed with performance practice of those eras in mind, including lifts after dotted notes, metric accents, and minimal vibrato, especially at cadences. Lines that end in a melisma should be performed by singing the final vowel and placing the consonant at the release of the final melisma note. The first verse may be sung in unison or as a solo as printed below. The verses may be sung in alternatum (odd verses, printed below: solo chant, even verses: choir). For a complete translation of the six Latin verses, refer to the next page. In the music’s text, I have retained all accent marks as found in the Liber Usualis. These should help inform text stress. The last two verses are suitable as a Communion anthem. This SSA Latin version was adapted from the original SATB version for the women of the Hillcrest High School choral program under the direction of Dr. Khristina Motley in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It reduces the original four-voice setting to three voices without sacrificing any canonic entrances. This SSA version is also suitable for performance by an advanced middle school choral ensemble or for TTB men. Also available as an organ solo or in English. SATB Latin/English versions coming soon!

Piano - intermediate to difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53321 Op. 12. Composed by Edward Elgar. Edited by Robert Schafer and Wilhelm Ohmen. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. Op. 12. 5 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53321. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53321). ‘Salut d’amour’ is one of Edward Elgar’s best-known works. He composed the short duo for violin and piano in 1888 as an engagement present for his piano student Caroline Alice Roberts, whom he then married the following year. The dedication ‘à Carice’ was derived from her initials. Since Alice spoke German very well, Elgar originally chose the title ‘Liebesgruß’. The publishers Schott, to whom he sold all rights for a one-off fee of just two guineas in 1888, changed the title to the French ‘Salut d’amour’ in order to exploit the sales potential. The present piano version (plate number 24787-2) was created by Elgar himself and was published by Schott in 1889 along with the editions for violin and piano and for small chamber orchestra. Later, without Elgar’s involvement, the piece was arranged and published for all possible instrumental combinations. Elgar was naturally annoyed that he did not benefit financially himself from this success and in a letter to Novello & Co. In 1897 wrote: ‘[Salut d’amour] which unfortunately I sold some years ago for a nominal sum, now sells well – I understand 3000 copies were sold in the month of January alone.’.

Elgar finished the piece in July 1888, when he was romantically involved with Caroline Alice Roberts, and he called it Liebesgruss ('Love's Greeting') because of Miss Roberts' fluency in German. This arrangement for string quartet (Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello) can be also used as music for wedding events.

Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799603 Composed by Frederic Chopin. Arranged by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. Romantic Period. 7 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #3123257. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.799603). This is my own arrangement of one of my favorite Chopin waltzes for the piano. As the Duo del Mare, violinist Amy Schlicher and I performed this arrangement aboard the ms Zaandam cruise liner, where it proved very popular. Because Amy and I did not have extra time or venues in which to rehearse, I intentionally made this arrangement very accessible (so that we could play it well without rehearsal or an intermediate-level duo could master it with some practice). This waltz would make a great encore or showpiece on your next program.About the Arranger:Praised as a sensitive pianist and outstanding accompanist who delivers powerful interpretations, Nicole Elyse DiPaolo is a versatile pianist, composer, and scholar currently based in Bloomington, Indiana. She holds a B.Mus in Music Theory from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where she studied piano under Michele Cooker and Louis Nagel; she also studied composition with Bright Sheng and basso continuo/harpsichord accompaniment with Edward Parmentier. In 2006 and 2007, Nicole appeared as a concerto soloist with the Ambassador Chamber Players, featuring works of J. S. Bach and Mozart alongside two performances of her own Piano Trio in C minor. Following her graduation from Michigan, Nicole completed an MM in Music Theory from Indiana University-Bloomington, where she has recently become a PhD candidate in the same field; her dissertation research will explore relationships between selected early partimenti (instructional sketches used by Italian composition teachers) and George Frideric Handel’s compositional techniques. Currently, Nicole is a sought-after private instructor of piano, music theory, and composition on the IU campus, where she is also an active mostly-vocal accompanist. Nicole continues to enjoy musical partnerships with students of nearly every current IU voice department faculty member (and she unashamedly absorbs and borrows teaching/coaching/performing tips from all these professors). In addition, she has taken French and German diction courses with Prof. Gary Arvin. Notable recent engagements include the 2016 and 2017 National Society of Arts and Letters Vocal Competitions (multiple entrants); the Opera Night at North benefit concert with students of IU's top-ranked opera program (among them Accidental Tenor Andrew Lunsford); and two long-term cruise ship performing contracts with violinist Amy Schlicher as the Duo del Mare. When not working on one of her many concurrent musical projects, Nicole might be found maintaining The Collaborative Pianists’ Community on Facebook, cuddling the nearest dog, looking for opportunities to maintain her Spanish and Italian language skills, and raising and releasing monarch butterflies. To learn more about Nicole’s many and varied performing, teaching, research, and publishing pursuits, please visit her website at http://ndipaolo.musicaneo.com .

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955861 Composed by Rudolf Sieczynski. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. 20th Century,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. 7 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6487467. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955861). Vienna is among the most sung about cities in Europe, particularly during the interwar period. Austrian composer Rudolf Sieczynski composed this nostalgic waltz Wien, Du Stadt Meiner Träume (Vienna, City of My Dreams) paying homage the city of his birth. He describes Vienna as if it were a woman, wooing a man with her divine beauty. This song was popularized by the Austrian tenor Richard Tauber in 1935, and is featured in the soundtrack of Stanley Kubrick’s 1999 film Eyes Wide Shut. This arrangement is for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment. It uses both the original German lyrics, and Edward Lockton’s English text. Performance time: 2:43+- Heaven, Vienna mine, laughter and music and stars that shine; Wonderful city where I belong, Of her I sing my song.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956899 Composed by Charles Gonoud, Edward Elgar, Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Richard Wagner. Arranged by Woods Only. Christian,Film/TV,Romantic Period,Wedding,World. 62 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #6476473. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.956899). This collection brings the most well-known and appropriate music for wedding ceremonies, arranged for woodwind quintet, where you can find music from beginner to professional levels of performance. They can be performed not only specifically in marriage ceremonies, but also in serenades, concerts, recitals and others. I. Ave Maria, Charles Gonoud/BACH The piece is composed of a melody by French Romantic composer Charles Gounod specially designed to overlap with Prelude No. Although published in instrumental versions and equipped for various texts during Gounod's lifetime, the claim that he never actually wrote it seems to be literally true. The version of Bach's prelude used by Gounod has the addition of a bar found only in the manuscript of Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke and the printed edition of Nikolaus Simrock which was based on it, but not in the other Bach manuscripts or the printed work of the scholar Bischoff or G. II. Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Tchaikovsky The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is a dance for a ballerina. Tchaikovsky introduced the celesta to Russian music lovers on 19 March 1892 when the Nutcracker Suite was performed for the Russian Musical Society in St. Petersburg. It is heard in other parts of Act 2 of The Nutcracker besides the Sugar Plum Fairy's dance. The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is one of the ballet's best known musical numbers. The complete Nutcracker has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960s and is now performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Major American ballet companies generate around 40% of their annual ticket revenues from performances of The Nutcracker. III. Salut d'amour, Elgar It was not published by Schott & Co., a German publisher, with offices in Mainz, London, Paris and Brussels, until a year later, and the first editions were for violin and piano, piano solo, cello and piano, and for small orchestra. As a violin-and-piano piece Salut d'Amour had been recorded for The Gramophone & Typewriter Ltd (predecessor to The Gramophone Company) as early as 1901 by Jacques Jacobs, leader/director of the Trocadero Restaurant orchestra. IV. Nuptial March, Wagner It is a bridal march played at the entrance of many Western wedding ceremonies. In English-speaking countries, it is generally known as Here Comes the Bride or Wedding March, but wedding march refers to any piece in march tempo accompanying the entrance or exit of the bride, notably Felix Mendelssohn's Wedding March. Wagner's piece was made popular when it was used as the processional at the wedding of Victoria the Princess Royal to Prince Frederick William of Prussia in 1858. Unlike the current tradition of it being played at the beginning of the ceremony, the work is performed after the wedding of Lohengrin and Elsa in the opera. V. Wedding March, Mendelssohn Felix Mendelssohn's Wedding March in C major, written in 1842, is one of the best known of the pieces from his suite of incidental music. The first known instance of Mendelssohn's Wedding March being used at a wedding was when Dorothy Carew wed Tom Daniel at St Peter's Church, Tiverton, England, on 2 June 1847 when it was performed by organist Samuel Reay. However, it did not become popular at weddings until it was selected by Victoria, The Princess Royal for her marriage to Prince Frederick William of Prussia on 25 January 1858. The bride was the daughter of Queen Victoria, who loved Mendelssohn's music and for whom Mendelssohn often played while on his visits to Britain.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.535388 Composed by Carson Cooman. Baroque,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 82 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3043975. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.535388). I. SinfoniaII. To Mary on the vigil of her AssumptionIII. A Votive SongIV. The Heliotrope-the mind of man turned to GodAscensions (2009) for SATB chorus, traverso, baroque violin, viola da gamba, and organ was commissioned by and isdedicated to the Cornell University Chamber Singers, Holland J. Jancaitis, director. The work is a cantata consisting of an instrumental sinfonia followed by choral settings of three poems by neo-Latin poetJakob Balde, S.J. (1604–68), hailed as the Horace of Germany and considered one of the greatest Latin poets of any era.In the case of the three poems selected, Balde’s vivid imagery and mastery of Latin poetics are put in service of religiousexpression. The poems are filled with countless allusions to the classical poetic tradition; notably, he creates a strongcorrelation between the Virgin Mary of his Christian tradition (Balde was a Jesuit priest) and the goddesses invoked inclassical Latin poetry. Thus, Balde uses the older forms to express something that was, for him, contemporary andrelevant. (An analogue to this use of language is the idea of creating new music to be played on period instruments.)The opening sinfonia begins with an ascending pattern of triads, which returns throughout the work. The forwardmomentum is interrupted several times before the movement settles tonally. The first choral movement employs abouncy momentum to set the celebratory poem on the Virgin’s assumption. The second movement is a prayerful song onthe acceptance of death; it is spare and meditative, unfolding as a series of sectional canons over several drones. The finalmovement returns to the celebratory spirit of the opening; this time, instead of the Virgin’s journey, the poem describesthe speaker’s journey and compares a purposeful sea voyage to a directed life.Balde’s poems are provided in their original Latin and in two translations. One is a free translation in rhyming poeticEnglish created by James J. Mertz, S.J., longtime professor at Loyola University. The other is a newly-created literaltranslation by Edward J. Vodoklys, S.J., Senior Lecturer in Classics at the College of the Holy Cross.Carson P. Cooman, January 2009, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USAPERFORMANCE NOTES: The composer prefers a classically-informed Italianate pronunciation of the Latin(church Latin is acceptable). (It is important that V always be pronounced as V, not as the W soundoften used by classical Latinists.)The work is conceived for a chamber choir, as a larger choir would not balance the timbres of the baroqueinstruments. It is suggested that 16–24 singers be employed (no fewer than 12).As with much early repertoire, dynamic and expressive markings are kept to a minimum. It is expected thatdirector and performers will inflect lines expressively and naturally. The organ part is notated for a small portatiforgan with pull-down pedal (with no independent pedal stops). If played on a larger instrument, this smallerregistration plan should be kept in mind so as to create balance with the instruments and choir.
