Cello,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844351 Composed by Lyrics: Charles Wesley, Music: Thomas Campbell, published 1738, and published 1825. Arranged by Dan Cutchen. Christian,Gospel,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and part. 15 pages. Dan Cutchen Music #4281895. Published by Dan Cutchen Music (A0.844351). This arrangement of And Can It Be That I Should Gain? is for cello solo and piano.A theme and variation treatment is used. For a piano background Mp3 track, search for: Cello - And Can It Be? Piano Accompaniment, Dan CutchenTime: approximately 6:00And Can It Be That I Should Gain? is a Christian hymn written by Charles Wesley. And Can It Be was written in 1738 to celebrate Wesley's conversion, which he regarded as having taken place on May 21 of that year. This beautiful hymn has been popular and enduring. And Can It Be That I Should Gain is perhaps one of the most joyfully poignant hymns penned by Charles Wesley (1707-1788). On Whitsunday (Pentecost), May 21, 1738, three days before his brother John experienced his heart strangely warmed,’ Charles was convalescing in the home of John Bray, a poor mechanic, when he heard a voice saying, In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, arise, and believe, and thou shalt be healed of all thy infirmities. The voice was most likely Mr. Bray’s sister who felt commanded to say these words in a dream.Anglican hymn writer Timothy Dudley-Smith, notes that the following then happened:Charles got out of bed and opening his Bible read from the Psalms: He have put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God, followed by the first verse of Isaiah 40, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. He wrote in his journal, I have found myself at peace with God, and rejoiced in the hope of love Christ (Dudley-Smith, 1987, 1).The statement from Mr. Bray’s sister sparked within Charles a conviction like he had never felt before. Moved and convicted in spirit, Charles wrestled with these words until he came to rest in his faith, knowing that it is by faith we are saved (Ephesians 2:8).Soon after this conversion experience, he wrote two hymns in celebration of the amazing love he had come to know: And Can It Be that I Should Gain and Where Shall My Wondering Soul Begin? (United Methodist Hymnal, 342)There has been some debate as to which hymn was written first, but most current scholarship accepts the latter as the first hymn written by Charles after his conversion experience. No matter its place in the chronology of Wesley's output, And Can It Be has been and remains one of his most remarkable hymns, expressing like no other the rapturous joy of receiving salvation. And Can It Be That I Should Gain. SAB choir, Piano (With Optional Accompaniment MP3) - Digital Download SKU: LX.15-3865H (December 1914). Arranged by Douglas E. Wagner. Educational, Holidays & Seasonal, Concert, General. Octavo. 12 pages. Heritage Music Press #e15/3865H. Published by Heritage Music Press (LX.15-3865H). Inspired by the ceasefire that occured in December of 1914 during World War I, this piece lives in that moment where for a brief moment, the world was at peace. Eyewitness accounts tell us that carols, such as Franz Gruber’s “Stille Nacht†(“Silent Nightâ€) were sung (which is feautured in this piece), seasonal greetings in several languages rang out across the trenches, and simple gifts of food and memorabilia were exchanged. In that one brief and beautiful moment, the human spirit triumphed. Fighting ceased, and the world was at peace. An optional reading may be read before the performing that communicates this context to your audience.

This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. Handbells sold by Rhythm Band or KidsPlay also use this same color scheme (other brands may use different color schemes). Using color coded notes helps beginning musicians learn to read standard sheet music notation. This set of scores is also available (separate purchase) in black and white which will print clearer if you do not have access to a color printer.Notes used for each instrument are as follows: Bells – D E G A B  Boomwhackers® – C D E F G A BThough this sheet music is notated for Handbells and Boomwhackers®, this arrangement is playable by any 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instrument such as a xylophone or glockenspiel (though the color coding may not match).Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure. Lyrics and chord names are provided as well to aid in the learning and teaching of this song. The staves are shown without sharps or flats for simplicity since even though this song is actually written in the key of G major, no sharps or flats are used. The number of ringers and whackers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned one to three notes. For beginners, it is best to assign one note to each person. Instrument assignment suggestions are provided on the last page for 6 to 12 players.Other suggestions and uses: * have both parts played by bells or both parts played using only Boomwhackers®* form a choir using multiple sets of bells and/or Boomwhackers® (this would amplify the sound and allow more people to participate)* use as part of the music education for children at school, home, or church* these colorful, inexpensive instruments can be enjoyed by all ages and add a fun, unique element to activities and programs: senior centers, family reunions, church retreats, home school groups, just to name a few Permission is granted to make up to 10 copies of each score. For more than 10 copies, please purchase additional sets. This arrangement is one of the 10 songs included in the collection Ten Traditional Spirituals for 8-Note Bells and Boomwhackers®.Boomwhackers® is a registered trademark of Rhythm Band Instruments, LLC. Healing Hearts 2
Louis Landon
2015 / Landon Creative
66 minutes
Review by Kathy Parsons
Louis Landon continues to soar on the wings of an amazingly creative period - now going on several years! Healing Hearts 2 is the follow-up to Healing Hearts, which was released the end of 2014 and is nominated for Album of the Year on Whisperings Solo Piano Radio. This is Landon’s second album for 2015 and he’s already working on his first release for 2016! The fourteen tracks on Healing Hearts 2 were gathered from improvisations created during sessions at Landon’s Healing Piano of Sedona (AZ), so the piano solos are very smooth and soothing - probably the most relaxed and relaxing album of Landon’s career. Recorded on a Steinway B grand piano at The Peace Palace in Sedona and mastered by Joe Bongiorno at Piano Haven, also in Sedona, the piano sound is impeccable - very warm and enveloping. Landon told me that this is the best music he never wrote, referring to the fact that the music just flows out of him during these sessions, reflective of each client’s wants and needs at the time of the session.
The full Healing Hearts 2 album is a little more than an hour of quietly uplifting music and works exceptionally well as a relaxing and healing experience. I’d like to mention a few favorite pieces, though. The album begins with “Sisters,” a very gentle piece that expresses the love and special bond that can exist between sisters. Very light and free, it’s a beautiful start. “Free At Last” starts out almost mournfully - dark and searching - gradually becoming livelier and more optimistic. It’s an amazing musical journey and development! “Relax and Enjoy” expresses the warm comfort of just letting go and “being” for awhile - leisurely and contented. “Feeling the Love” is so warm and open that it feels like a musical embrace - melodic yet very free. “All Is Well” is almost ambient, but what a wonderful atmosphere of quiet contentment it creates - a perfect peace. “Transition” is like floating on a cloud - effortless and so peaceful. “Dark Nights” is one of the most beautiful pieces Landon has recorded. It reminds me a little bit of Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” and some of Chopin’s Nocturnes - so poignant and heartfelt that it takes my breath away. The gracefully flowing “Dancer” expresses freedom and elegant movement. “Lullaby” closes this excellent album with a piece so soothing it could melt the tension out of anyone. Gorgeous!
If you are looking for music that will relax and refresh your inner being, you need to look no further than Healing Hearts 2. This is the real deal when it comes to soothing piano music with substance and heart. It is available from louislandon.com, Amazon, iTunes, and CD Baby. Highly recommended!

Louis Landon is a composer and Steinway artist. Formerly of New York and currently living in Sedona, Arizona, Louis has dedicated his life to music. His career has taken him around the world playing a variety of styles with some of the most recognized names in the entertainment industry. He toured nationally and internationally, playing classical music for Mikhail Baryshnikov; jazz fusion with The John Payne Band; Latin music with "Pucho and his Latin Soul Brothers”; pop music with Rupert "Pina Colada Song" Holmes; and rock & roll with John Hall, opening for "Little Feat”.
Louis began playing the piano by ear at 4 years old and began lessons at 5. As a teenager, he played guitar and keyboard in bands and went on to study music at Stony Brook University, Boston Conservatory and Berklee College of Music.
For the past 30 years, through his production company, Landon Music Company, Louis has written and produced music for film, video, and commercials. He recorded his first original album, Love Songs & Jazz, in 1994 and has since released 38 Albums/CDs on the LCI Record label. His latest, entitled Provocative Piano, was released on January 29, 2021. He has just finished up yet another solo piano album, Nighttime Piano for Relaxation and Deep Sleep, with a release date of April 23, 2021.
Louis Landon mission:
To create a more compassionate world by writing, recording and performing music that inspires love, peace, joy and gratitude.
Reviews:
“While some pianists are virtuosos in their playing and others may not be as technically proficient, but have great emotional content in their music, Louis Landon brings it all together with impeccable style and grace. His work covers diverse compositional terrain, incorporating influences of classical, new age, jazz, pop, and more in a mellifluous spectrum of moods and musical colors.” Michaeldiamondmusic.com
"He has a gift for composition that is second to none." Zone Music Reporter
"… indeed meditative and mellow, [he] sacrifices no musical rigor to achieve those ends. With backgrounds in jazz, Latin music, rock, pop, film composing, and classical piano, Louis brings his breadth and depth of experience to bear here. His playing and compositions are sensitive as they are complex and… a diverse range of influences is more than apparent.” Keyboard Magazine

SOULS AT REST for ORGAN Playing time: Appx. 2:40 Services: All Saints, All Souls, Autumn, Memorial, any The pedal plays the somber yet peaceful melody in this rather introspective work, with the swell box opening now and then to allow the keyboard to give little dialogues that echo the melody. A dissonant mood in the middle section is reminiscent of our dismay and confusion over the loss of loved ones, but the return of the melody at the end soothes us once more with eternal hope. All Saints and All Souls are beautiful celebrations that are harbingers of the close of the year. As the beginnings of the pre-winter feasts, they are also the earliest to shine light in the darkness as many cemeteries become illuminated by the warm glow of thousands of candles placed in commemoration of the dearly departed. Although I composed this piece under the spiritual influence of those two holy days, the work may be used at any service where a reflective, meditative piece is needed. The registrations I give here are merely suggestions; adapt at will to your instrument and the ambience you wish to create. God bless!

Score and parts. 132 pages. Brad Esbensen Music Services #6092699. Published by Brad Esbensen Music Services (A0.774418). This work was originally composed for choir by Bernadette Debattista and was first performed at the Dawn Service, commemorating the centenary of the Gallipoli landings, in ANZAC Cove on 25 April 2015 by a combined choir from St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace and All Hallows’ School. The sax section requires the following doubles: Clarinet for Alto Saxes 1 and 2, and Tenor Sax 2; Flute for Tenor Sax 1; Bassoon for Bari Sax (although a Bari Sax part with no doubles has been included). There is also an optional part for Eb Sarrusophone! Trumpets require Flugelhorns and Harmon mutes. The recording features excerpts from each of the four movements and a brief description of each follows.1. Distant Shores With its jaunty, march-like feel, one can only imagine what it must have been like as these young men and women travelled to far off places, fired with the thrill of adventure, blind to the trauma and terrors of war. 2.Your Sons Are Our Sons The title for this movement is a paraphrase of a line in a speech given by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in which he speaks of the special bond between Australia and Turkey. This movement features solo space for Piano and Trumpet.3.Reflection This movement features a small vocal group, including some of the singers who were present at the 2015 performance in ANZAC Cove, and a reading of the poem that became the lyrics of the song. 4.Hymn The final movement presents the theme in close to its original form, although extensively re-harmonised. A solo trumpet for most of the movement.I hope you enjoy performing this work.www.bemus.com.au

Shall We Gather at the RiverRobert Lowry, 1864Easy intermediate PIANOFrom the author/composer of How Can I Keep from Singing, Low in The Grave He Lay/Christ Arose, All the Way My Savior Leads Me, We’re Marching to Zion and I Need Thee Every Hour comes this classic hymn of longing for heaven, worship and fellowship by Robert Lowry, 1864.On a ministry visit to a grieving family he was asked, “Pastor, we have parted at the river of death. Will we meet again by the river of life?” Lowry assured her from Revelation 22:1 they they would. Then, later that afternoon he wrote both the words and the music of Shall We Gather at the River. The arrangement may serve as well as an early goal for a progressing piano student as for an intermediate to advanced player this coming Sunday. The intro announces the tune and calls the first line of the chorus to mind. After setting the meditative mood the first stanza is presented in right hand melody with left hand accompaniment that only occasionallyis rhythmically active beyond beat three. Then, the easily playable key change takes the vision to the bank of the “shining river” by way of a brief, flowing left hand figuration. A few easily-managed major seven chords and an expressive dotted eighth note or two later the “melody of peace” concludes with echoes of the intro, bringing both heart and hands to rest. All this from the places you go for the best in downloadable resources:Sheet Music Directsheetmusicdirect.comSheet Music Plussheetmusicplus.comAs well as via Hal Leonard InStore™ retailers. Also…be sure to check out other titles from East of the Altar/Artist of Note, Inc.Thanks, as always to the good folks at ArrangeMe.com, a division of Hal Leonard!
