This four-movement suite was first published in 1918 by Joseph Williams (now part of Stainer & Bell) as In Pixieland for Solo Violin or Flute and Piano. In 1921 string parts were added and then in 1930 optional parts for flute, oboe, clarinet in A or B flat and bassoon became available, making the work ideally suited for school or amateur orchestra. In 1999 the Sir George Dyson Trust decided that the original title was slightly out of tune with the times and it was changed to Woodland Suite. In 2007, the piece was recorded by the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Richard Hickox and issued on the Chandos label (CHAN 10439) alongside a number of Dyson's choral works. The recording has created new interest in this early suite, which is again available for sale in all versions.

Composed by Eugène Bozza in 1947, Short Suite in Trio Form, Op. 67 is a piece for oboe, clarinet and bassoon. This edition features the parts for the three instruments and a full score. This four-movement work is quite difficult and would be perfect for advanced players. A great piece for recitals, it is also really interesting to play for each of the three instruments. The four movements are Allegro moderato, which starts with the oboe, Allegro vivo, Adagio espressivo and Allegro vivo, and the piece lasts approximatively 10 minutes. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prizes for the Violin, conducting and composition, as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas, chamber works and ballets among others.

This work for violin and piano by Martin Bresnick is a play on the words suite and bittersweet. Each of the four movements is based on a Yiddish folk song, which in English translate to On the Road, My Resting Place, Black Cat, and Dona, Dona. Each of the four pieces is primarily based on a Jewish folk song, but re-envisions them in a modern context, akin to Bartok and Kodaly. The composer noted, I found it a very challenging, yet touching way to remain in contact with some part of my own past that I don't usually reveal. The title references the difficult (bitter) and pleasant (sweet) aspects of experiencing the tumultuous history of a people through their folk music. This work for violin and piano by Martin Bresnick is a play on the words suite and bittersweet. This four-movement suite is based on French folk songs and was specifically written for groups that may not be ready for St. Paul's Suite or Capriol Suite, but still want to be able to dig into a substantial piece. In addition to the variety of styles, keys and time signatures, the last movement playfully pays homage to Holst's The Dargason. A fabulous addition to the repertoire!

This series of easy piano music for teaching purposes presents pupils in the lower and lower middle grades with a carefully chosen selection of well-known and lesser-known compositions by important masters. The volumes are deliberately kept small in extent, since it is more stimulating for children to change the teaching material frequently. Carl Maria von Weber (1786-1826) composed three series of piano duets: opus 3, opus 10 and opus 60. The piano pieces opus 3, which he wrote at the age of 15, are, despite the modest demands made on playing technique, among the most inventive and melodically sensitive works for four hands of the post-classical period. Together with the four pieces from opus 3, an andante from opus 10 has been included in this folio. These five pieces have been arranged in a sequence such that in their entirety, the result is a balanced suite - in a formal sense - for four hands. (The scherzo opus 3. No. 3 has therefore been transposed into C major.) Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Autumn 1979.

E ach of these five movements for solo cello uses a different technique to extend the performer's control over various dimensions of the music. The composer writes:
There are five pieces. In the first, second and fifth there are phrase sequences with free pauses between them. There are also notations for just dynamics (sounds free), and for just rhythms (free sounds). The third and fourth pieces are on grids of 6 x 6 and 8 x 8 bars, allowing continuities to be chosen in variously free ways.
The fifth piece, consisting of a series of passages that may be performed in any sequence, may also be played as a cello duo, with the second cellist playing a different sequence.
The Anton of the title is the dedicatee, cellist Anton Lukoszevieze, who gave the world premiere of this suite at St James' Church, Islington, London on September 21, 2018. This performing edition is a facsimile of the composer's autograph manuscript. At moderate tempi, the total duration of the work may be approximately 15 minutes.

When Max Reinhardt was engaged to direct a German language production of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing at the Vienna Volksbühne in 1918, he asked Korngold to compose the incidental music. The production, under the German title Viel Lärmen um Nichts did not open until May 6, 1920 at the Schönbrunn Palace Theater. In the pit, the composer led members of the Vienna Philharmonic, performing no less than 18 pieces of music. In the meantime, due to the tardy premiere of the play, Korngold had already extracted a five-movement orchestral suite which garnered much praise when performed three months before the play's opening night. The five movements included: 1. the Overture; 2. Scene in the Bridal Chamber; 3. Holzapfel und Schlehwein (a mock-serious scene); 4. Intermezzo (Garden Scene); and 5. Hornpipe. When the play moved to Vienna's Burgtheater (more than 80 performances) and later to the Rezidenz Theater in Munich, the music continued to attract much attention. Demand for the music was such that Korngold arranged the suite into versions for violin and piano (four pieces), and for solo piano (three pieces). German composer-arranger Leo Artok (1885-1935) arranged the most popular three items (1. Hornpipe; 2. Garden Scene; and 3. In the Bridal Chamber) for small orchestra, which were then published by Schott in 1926. This newly engraved edition of the Artok arrangement, offered with a new full score for the first time, has been completed by R. Mark Rogers. All editions noted above are available from the publisher. Instrumentation: 1.1.2.1: 2.2.1.0: Timp.Perc(2).Harm: Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set).
