The piano cycle Seven Landscapes was written in 1985. The seven pieces - think of the seven colours of the rainbow - have no thematic or stylistic affinity whatsoever, but contrast strongly, and they are not conceived as a cycle either. However, I am convinced that a well thought-out interpretation can keep the tension with the audience and give an impression of coherence. The Azerbaijani composer Franghiz Ali-Zadeh composed her piano solo work “Landscape (Rising)” for the “8th International Adilia Alieva Piano Competition” in Gaillard (France). The world premiere of the work was given during the course of the competition in June 2012 (compulsory piece for the competition participants). “Landscape (Rising)” is dedicated to Adilia Alieva, the jury president of the competition.

'Landscape With Deserted House' is a piece of a dark and very individual character, almost a 'gothic piece'. This original work for equal voices from the composer Guido Lopez Gavilan is a virtuoso composition, full of humor and lyricism. The composer uses onomatopoeic sounds that imitate the guitar and the mandolin, inst ruments that always accompany serenades and love songs. The poem describes a bucolic landscape and the verses alternate with vocal-instrumental interludes which help to build to an extraordinary sonic climax. The colorful harmonies are reminiscent of the impressionist language.
