J. S. Bach's Partita C Minor BWV 1013 for solo Treble Recorder. Originally written for traverse Flute this edition is transposed up a minor third.

Johann Sebastian Bach's Partita in A minor for solo Flute actually entitled 'Solo pour la flûte traversière' is one of the undisputed gems of the Flute repertoire. The work is extant in only one copy as autograph material of the composer has not survived. This raises a number of questions and problems which the present edition faces again not only in the preface and notes on interpretation but also in the musical text itself. Due to the meticulous examination and assessment of all text details the transition to the repetition of the second part in the Allemande for example is structured differently than in most establishededitions. The practical performance notes examine the musical text on the basis of practical sources of contemporaries of Bach as well as in accordance with the principles of musical rhetoric.

The Partita was virtually unknown until 1917 when the manuscript (call number: Mus. Ms. Bach P 968) was acquired by the then Royal Library in Berlin from the heirs of the former Thomaskantor and avid Bach collector Wilhelm Rust (1822-1892). For this reason the Partita for Flute BWV 1013 was not included in the pioneering Gesamtausgabe der Bachgesellschaft finished in 1900. In addition it seems possible that Wilhelm Rust intentionally withheld the piece from publication despite the fact that he had generously supported the Bachgesellschaft edition in its early stages. Today the Partita is well known though it is worth remembering that this piece is one of the latestadditions to the canon of Bach's works.- Urtext of the New Bach Edition

Sonate Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach en la mineur pour flûte solo quasi constitue une contrepartie de la partita de son père Johann Sebastian dans la même tonalité. Créé en 1747, mais non publié jusqu'en 1763, il annonce le style sentimentale d'une nouvelle ère, par rapport à l'env. 30 ans de plus de travail de son père. L'édition est basé sur la première édition qui est caché parmi les oeuvres pour piano de C. Ph. E. Bach et d'autres compositeurs de l'anthologie 'Musikalisches Mancherley'. Composed as a suite this descriptive work uses four short movements to create varied and distinctive moods. First is a bold Fanfare with rich harmonies followed by the March in a traditional style.
